NASCAR announces 2019 MENCS rules

Nascar is broadcasting this independently of the networks and supplying their own people? This could be a first, I don't remember this happening before.

Visit NASCAR.com on Thursday — https://www.nascar.com/lasvegastest — to watch the action unfold in real time, with reporter Jonathan Merryman and crew chief Chris Rice hosting a four-hour event that will include live updates from Las Vegas with NASCAR.com’s Jessica Ruffin and a live stream of the cars on track.
Thanks for that information. What Thursday will it be.????? and the Times?????

OR they didn't have it in their contract package. This is the future where Nascar will be
moving to when this contract is up. Put together their own package for sale and be able to control
what fans will get. This way they can make rapid changes according to the polls and volume of interested fans. Right now the networks control such idiotic things like Rutledge that have no value to the race. He is promoting the track.

Very strange they haven't used him for any of the tests this offseason. Would have been nice but I'm sure the 9 team isn't too worried lol.
I thought so too. The last test was a tire test, and I read that a rep/driver for each brand of car was what it was for, and not because Hendrick just didn't show up.

No one wanted the title sponsorship so Nascar has come up with some fuzzy BS to replace it. Nascar may have to go it alone with the next broadcast deal or partner with YouTube or some such service.

Chase Briscoe said on reddit that except for the 25-lap drafting sessions, Xfinity and Cup will both be on track together. Also expects that Xfinity will be quicker down the straights and Cup quicker through the corners.

You've gotta be kidding me. Cup aka "XfiniCup"

All the money, other resources, and cheating overtime pay in Cup -- and a hopeful driver in a Xfinity car (with simple body torqued on) rolls past the "best drivers in the world" on the back straightaway or front stretch...

Same thing for the Roval test.

The new package is already working, drawing interest. Some come to look, some will come to scoff, but they will come. ;)

Good move on NASCAR. Overlooked in all of the no testing BS is the interest is could generate.

Harvick couldn't make it. A blade that big takes Rodney extra time.

Haas Automation machine to run a multi-density transfrom-on-demand flubber blade that can also replicate the code and watermark security is still in development...

Haas has surely developed a spoiler that expands at speed by now:D, they call it the poor Kyle effect. Sure has been fun to listen last year to the whine when the Ferds were winning races. It was louder than the motors. Because OSS. :p

“Anytime that we’ve made a package change we’ve made racing better for a while,” Gordon said. “When we went to low downforce — I remember this going back to Kentucky — we went to low downforce and the groove went to the wall. I mean, we were four lanes wide at Kentucky because our cars didn’t handle well. Anytime we make a change not everybody gets the common solution, so you have differences in the cars. I think when we do that you’ll have cars that are good in certain ways and not good in other ways, and when we have that, we have more passing because different cars have strengths in different places.”
Gordon then referenced the ’18 season finale at Homestead. While Logano came out on top, Gordon noted there were two different strategies at play which produced a great race because it forced Logano and Martin Truex Jr. to pass each other. Logano had a short-run car while Truex had a long-run car.

“I think the new package will put people in different scenarios of how they balance out the pluses and minuses of having all the downforce or taking the drag out of the car, which will put cars in situations where they’re going to pass each other,” Gordon said. “I feel like we’ll have more passing and more opportunity to make an impact on what’s going on.

“Yeah, there’s grumbling about it because there’s always fear of the unknown — I think human beings inherently are fearful of the unknown and this is a change. But for what we can do racing wise, I think there’s an opportunity for this to be really exciting.”

Logano -- Short-run
Truex Jr. -- Long-run
Harvick -- Daytime
KyBu -- Poached Hamlin's prime real estate, then drove from 1st to 4th (and off the podium) on last restart; sitting in Chair 4 next to Almirola when the smoke cleared from Cup Champion Logano's burnout

Looks like Jim is out here fixing what Brian has broken:

Simplifying officiating... I like it, but exactly what would everyone like to see simplified?

Number one? Double Yellow line rule needs to go IMHO. In terms of officiating, so would this mean rules like the uncontrolled tire rule could be dealt with? I like the idea, but I wonder what rules will be implemented or eliminated in this case.

What do the ladies and gentlemen of the forum think? I'm liking the direction Jim is sending the sport in.

Just eliminate the micro managing of each and every piece that goes into a race car.
I think they could eliminate all inspections prior to qualifying. and just check the top 10 cars after qualifying. If they don't pass, they have no time and start the race 1 lap down. After the race take the top 10 cars and inspect them with the top 3 cars going for a major tear down. If they don't pass, you didn't race, get no points at all and lose your entree fee. Every team knows the limits and I am sure if the penalty is great enough they will make sure they don't cross the line.
In the case of the #4 last year, that was deliberate attempt to cheat and there is no excuse.
In a case like that, the #4 car should have never been allowed to run Homestead.
I know even the death penalty will not stop people from killing others, si I would also suggest the Car chief bringing a car to the track knowing they have cheated should have his card removed for a minimum of 5 races first time, 10 races after the second offence and life time after the 3rd offence.
If you think this is to tough then you agree with the cheating.

Simplifying the officiating procedures sounds like the right direction. Specifics will have to emerge to know for sure.

They could start by eliminating the ridiculous machinations they go through with post-race inspection failures and just start outright DQing. That might simplify a lot of the games that get played.

So would you like to see the OSS or strictly use in just post race inspections? One shot and if you do not pass then tough running, you fail?

Or just have post qualifying and race inspection for the top three or have a random car from each manufacturer to inspect to ensure each maker is following suit? Its all interesting to me.

I'll hold off on that until after this year's plate races are run. The new configuration may make this possible. On the other hand, if they're still running around Daytona and Talladega in one big wad, I don't see how the double-yellow rule can be (safely) eliminated.

Qualifying tweaks among several NASCAR competition updates

At both short tracks and intermediate speedways, the first of three rounds will be shortened from 15 minutes to 10. The other rounds will remain 10 minutes for Round 2 and five minutes for the final round.
At every national-series track next season, the down-time intervals between rounds will be trimmed from seven minutes to five.

Triple Truck Challenge?
Drivers who elect to accumulate Monster Energy Series points are not eligible to compete in any Dash 4 Cash or Triple Truck Challenge races, or the final eight races in either the Xfinity Series or the Gander Outdoors Truck Series. In addition, drivers who earn points in the Xfinity Series are ineligible to compete in Triple Truck Challenge races and the championship race for the Gander Outdoors Truck Series.

Getting specific
NASCAR also announced Monday that its three national tours will have dedicated, series-specific officials conducting inspections in 2019.

I guess we'll be finding out what the "Triple Truck Challenge" is shortly.

I still am not on board with knockout qualifying, especially with these cars. JMO.
