NASCAR at LeMans

The way Chad made it sound that this is the test car and they'll be building a new one to actually run in the race. This one will be taken along as a backup

The thread title needs correction....NASCAR isn't at LeMans....****** Chevy is.
 
Even if the entire rest of the field was abducted by aliens, they are not eligible to win the race. Think of the garage 56 cars as the extra cars fielded for Day's of Thunder filming.

Perhaps, but that really means nothing as far as winning a class (doesn't have one) earning points or competing for an overall win. The car simply cannot win the race because it doesn't adhere to the rules of ANY of the competing classes. Even if it were to finish ahead of all the other cars, it would NOT be recognized as the official race winner. The ACO would NEVER EVER NEVER allow that to happen.
 
A few years back they had a 3 wheeled car in the Garage 56 slot. Garage 56 class if you could call it that is a car that has to be approved to the races to start with.

Concept cars intended to test new automotive technologies may participate in the race under the "Garage 56" banner. Such entries are classified in the race results, though are not expected to be competitive as their sole focus is to demonstrate experimental features.[12]

The program debuted in 2012 with the DeltaWing, an unusual rocket-shaped car fielded by All-American Racers and supported by Nissan. The DeltaWing concept showed promise, delivering nearly LMP2-level performance while only consuming 48% of the fuel, but retired after a collision with an LMP1 car six hours into the race.[13]
 
This is a whole lot of fretting over something that isn't likely to happen. Let ACO worry about it when the sun comes up and the car is still on the lead lap.
 
If that car servived 24 hrs at Sebring test, then yeah, that car will more than likely be there in the end of the LeMans 24 race.

Sebring is one of the roughest tracks there is. It will beat your backbone through your a hole.

Yes, being that the GTE winner finished THIRTY laps behind the overall winner (that's losing a lap about every 45 minutes) so it is extremely unlikely to be an issue. 27 cars finished ahead of that winning GTE car.
