nascar ended up with a corrupt race

Upon further review . . .

it wouldn't have been that hard after all.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if they had hit Bowyer with an 80 point penalty instead of just 50, his point total prior to the reset would have dropped to 749, one less than Gordon's 750.

The standings would have been 9th-Logano-751, 10th-Gordon-750, 11th-Bowyer-749.

Having no wins under his belt would have left Bowyer SOL for a wild card spot, as those two spots would still go to Kahne and Newman.

go figure . . .
And don't think for one moment that NASCRAP didn't know they could have played it that way....Their intent was to burn the #24...Fast forward to the time when/if the #24 takes out the #15 later in the chase...Look for record setting fines given to Gordon and maybe a long term suspension...NASCRAP loved Jeff when his "Goldenboy" image was helpful to the sport...Those days are gone...

Clint Bowyer gives awkward, apologetic interview on ESPN

Clint Bowyer stumbled through an uncomfortable interview during a Tuesday afternoon edition of ESPN's SportsCenter, his first public comments since Michael Waltrip Racing was given the largest penalty in NASCAR history.

Bowyer, who largely was unaffected by the penalty despite a suspicious spin that triggered a controversial sequence of events, apologized several times during the interview.

But when pressed on why he was apologizing, Bowyer danced around the question.

"No, let's not dig too much into this," Bowyer said when asked if his apology referred to the spin. "I've dealt with a lot of opinions and a lot of things that happened. I gave my interview after the race as to what happened. We've been penalized with the biggest penalty in NASCAR history and we're going to get through this as a race team."

anyone want to put the time and effort into determining the points outcome had nascar reverted to the last lap prior to the MWR intervention?

Bowyer refuses to admit again. Less discomfort this time, more winking at the camera.

@jeff_gluck
Clint: "We're not in jail, we're not dead and hopefully with any luck, there will be a liquor store open when we get outta here today."

He's sticking to his story. I'm kinda enjoying the brazen lying the more he does it -- Bowyer is basically winking at the camera and saying, "I know I did it. You know I did it. They know I did it. Hell, we all know I did it. But I ain't gonna admit it. Now somebody get me a beer."

FYI: Clint Bowyer will be on SportsCenter one more time -- not a replay -- between 4:10 and 4:30 p.m. ET.

No 100% guarantee theres no caution.. that's the point.

No you're right.. I don't mean to assume but it is entirely possible that could happen with no caution and who knows what would happen if the caution happened 3 laps later.. Newman's pit crew might have done better.. we have no idea.

Not really.

NASCAR has made it clear over the years that they won't change the outcome of a race and aren't about to start now.

Realistically, Bowyer can't admit it because that would give NASCAR grounds to crack on him even harder.

Like an 80 point penalty instead of 50, thereby taking him out of the Chase and putting Gordon in.

That's the main reason they cant do anything about Joey making it in. It really sucks for Truex, I wonder if he knew about the team orders before hand. If he did then he's just as guilty imo.

everyone's barking at bowyer. they ruled on vickers. both following team orders.

mikey the mouth is the one that should be squirming on the hotseat, not clint.

doin what crisis mgt experts suggest......don't hide....get out in front a' issue.

thought craven's indignant "mike wallace/60 min" ambush interview was pathetic....
......but hey...he's just doin his job too.

an helton's comments last nite......on trends.....was pretty coded. "think $300 k was bad....let us catch this team crap happenin again ! " ha!

I really don't want to watch and listen to that corrupt dumbass Wichael Waltrip on race hub whine, weasel and blame everybody else but if I don't I may miss him getting struck by a bolt of lightning.

Thanks for all your work dpk

After listening to his responses I really have little or no respect for Bowyer. I guess he can't man up to it for legal and sponsorship reasons.

When asked what he was apologizing for he says lets not dig too much into this.......

and....as a team...we stand by actions.......we own up to them.

REALLY?....I must have missed that bit.
