nascar ended up with a corrupt race

i'm out. last thought.
this whole mwr thing reminds me a' mcgwire......n.....sosa.....home run race...'98.
fans/reporters all watched mcgwire dev from average guy ta this huge hulk figure........knockin ball
outa park.....big change...yet nobody said squat ! .........home runs were great.
1st time steroid use came out............ban him !!!!!! .....etc .....etc
reporters were tha worst.......tha very ones who watched it daily.....an kept quite.
"we thought he was just drinkin protein " !! right !

same w/ nascar.................................................

I'll say this, nascar promotions are on the ball and taking advantage of the attention. Last night Jr. got in a decent chase plug, and even suggested people should watch.

Ty Norris@Tymwr
I am suspended for being a spotter, not a GM, for making a call to bring teammate to pit road. NO other reason. NO other incident.

Interesting.
But I wonder how long his indefinite suspension ends up being.

like some others on the forum, I am disgusted with all of them including Mike Helton. Nascar didn't have the balls to put Gordon in the chase. the 50 point penalty to Bowyer means little. They should have applied the 50 points to the Chase phase and Gordon should be in and logano out. Not sure I will even watch the Chase.

Geez, I'm tired of all the bleeding for Gordon. The penalty for his Phoenix outburst last year didn't mean anything either. Parking on the track and waiting to wreck 2 cars is far worse than spinning a car. Considering where Kez finished at Homestead, Bowyer lost the chance to put some extra pressure on him and perhaps even win the race and a championship.

All the Jeffry fans say Bowyer deserved it for that light brush on Gordons quarter panel. Well, the sport didn't. Gordon threw a tantrum and disrespected the chase. Bowyer did the same. Right now, there's little difference between the 2. They deserve each other.

Poor Ty is going to miss Bowyer kissing the wall. If Jeff does wreck Bowyer, will Bowyer retaliate? It's possible he does, and ends up taking out some other cars just as Jeff did last year. What if those are HMS cars?

Every year leading up to this 1st Chase race the drivers taking part each head out to a designated track and track area to promote the Chase. Jr. is in New York, Harvick is in Tennessee, Logano heading to New Hampshire, Newman in Phoenix and so on.....

For a list of who's where and what they're doing follow #ChaseAcrossAmerica

NASCAR could only act on Vickers radio traffic. Unless someone confesses the issue is closed and NASCAR acted as it saw fit. I don't think anyone is completely satisfied, I don't think any solution will satisfy everyone.

Exactly, there's no way to satisfy everyone. Done and over at this point.

The irony of the whole thing is that Jeff's tantrum at Phoenix last year ended Bowyer's title hopes and took out Joey Logano in the process. Bowyer's spin at Richmond ended Gordon's title hopes and put Logano in the Chase. What goes around comes around, I guess.

Dear Facebook Fans and the NAPA community,

The actions taken by Michael Waltrip’s Racing team this past weekend leading to the penalties assessed by NASCAR, are very concerning. We are disappointed that a partner associated with our organization would make such a significant error in judgment. In addition, we have launched our own review to determine the future of our partnership with Michael Waltrip’s Racing team. The NAPA AUTO PARTS organization is proud of its long-standing NASCAR relationship. We share a passion with our customers for high quality racing and seek to determine the best course of action for our customers, NASCAR fans, and the NAPA organization.

And more on this.....

In the wake of penalties to Michael Waltrip Racing for manipulating the results of Saturday's race at Richmond International. Raceway, NAPA is reviewing its sponsorship of the team.

The auto parts supplier, which sponsors the No. 56 Toyota of Martin Truex Jr., posted a statement Wednesday morning on its Facebook page that said:

NAPA has been affiliated with team owner Michael Waltrip since entering NASCAR's premier series 12 years ago, winning its debut as his primary sponsor in the 2001 Daytona 500. It moved with Waltrip when he formed his own Sprint Cup team in 2007 and was aligned with Truex's No. 56 when he joined MWR in 2010.

Last August, NAPA and Truex both signed multiyear extensions.

Truex was bounced Monday from a Chase for the Sprint Cup wild card spot when NASCAR docked 50 points from him and teammates Clint Bowyer and Brian Vickers, fined MWR $300,000 and indefinitely suspended general manager Ty Norris.

NASCAR said Norris' command to Vickers to pit late in the race (which helped improve Joey Logano's standing and earned Truex the final wild card) was the primary basis for its decision. Bowyer also spun to trigger a final caution with seven laps remaining that adversely affected the chances for a win by Ryan Newman, who was battling Truex for the wild card.

Newman made the Chase in that slot after Truex's points were stripped.

I'm gonna be the first to say 2013 was Gordon's year to win it all but he was screwed out of it! :owquitit:

I have my fingers crossed and am waiting patiently for FOX to release a statement that Michael Waltrip is no longer under contract with them in any capacity whatsoever and also the same with Toyota.

I'm not looking forward to seeing anyone lose everything. Not even Mikey.

I'm done with this unless sponsors drop out which I doubt.. Mikey being the smooth operator he is. Bring on the chase.

I don't want him to lose everything, just what his Contractee's thinks he deserves to lose and enough to try and make him understand that you have to take responsibility for your own actions. I don't wish Ill will on anyone in this fiasco (well maybe Bowyer) for screwing up but he either has to learn or get a job at Aaron's.

I know you and yes, I know you don't. Somehow, I think these guys now understand the ramifications of last weeks actions. What a difference a week makes.

After what Tony did a couple years ago you never know, but I kinda doubt it. Gordon hasn't made a serious run at the title since 2007, and I don't think this year would have been any different. He was pretty hot going into the Chase a couple years ago, but all but disappeared once it started.

And deservedly so. If Nascar doesn't have the balls, maybe NAPA does.

The NASCRAP brass need some Viagra, because they went limp on this. 2 MAJOR cheating scandals and MWR is still in the chase....If they would have been consistant with the penalties they would be out....In 2000 Michael Kranufuss cheated with fuel and was docked 150 pts...2007 MWR cheats with fuel and was docked 100 pts....This 50 pt penalty in really chickenshyt....

Those 50 pts translate to about 200 pre-2011 pts, but I get what you're saying.

Bowyer should be starting the Chase at 1,950 in my opinion.

I'll bet that announcement got a ton of editing AFTER nascar removed their driver from the chase.
