The stages have made the races even better. I think I saw something recently that said over 80% of fans support stage racing.

Stage racing has saved us from the older drivers who quit racing years ago and just do the Sunday drive for the paycheck.
Truex is so far ahead in points now he has a guarantee to be 1 of 4 at Homestead. Took a lot of races for other teams to do the math.

It takes all kinds to make up the fanbase of any sport. Why worry about how knowledgeable someone is about the sport they root for? What difference does it make?

Not much for the fans BUT when a driver doesn't know the difference between a Start and a Re-start you know there could also be fans that don't know the rules.
