NASCAR Sponsorship News Thread

A lot of our fanbase clearly has no idea how social media works:

We have clowns advertising on NASCAR's Twitter and Facebook pages about how they are "boycotting NASCAR" over this

When they are actually giving them social media engagement, which isn't boycotting. Social media engagement is as good if not better than a TV rating or a ticket sold.

I'm loving all the people that are completely perplexed by a major business not wanting to have "F the President" emblazoned all over it.
No joke, and I am over it. You see, those folks employ the second grade rationalization that they really aren't saying that, so why are they in trouble? It's bull****. I have lived through a few presidents. Some I voted for, some I didn't. Some I liked, some I disliked. Bottom line.....I have ALWAYS referred to the person occupying that office as President ---------......This isn't hard. To slap that **** on a race car is complete crap, and not cute. Brandon Brown has ben leaning into this for some time. One moment he whines about having no sponsorship, the next minute, he distances himself from the message. Another minute, he reveals his political affiliation, but doesn't endorse the war chant. I don't know what the **** the kid stands for, and I don't care much about one time winners who don't drive MY Toyotas. Go back to work kid....it almost worked out for you.

I still doubt politics is at the heart of NASCAR's disapproval. I suspect the name being widely understood to be a substitute for a vulgarity has more to do with it.

I don't think the questionable business model is part of it, or not much. I recall that rip-off after-market auto warranty outfit Rusty Wallace was affiliated with. NASCAR didn't blink at that.

From my understanding, NASCAR's going to roll out a ban on political sponsorship.

The NRA co-sponsorship of the Night Race at Bristol has quietly been dropped.

Quite frankly, if this is enforced equally across the board, I'm all for it. Every single damn thing in this country revolves around politics ever since the rise of Donald Trump. One hint people obviously haven't gotten from the results of Joe Biden's win in the 2020 election is that people are sick and tired of politics, tired of politicians trying to insert themselves in everything to divide us, and just want to enjoy life again.

And, ironically, the very people most outraged about the ban on political sponsorship in NASCAR are the ones who keep saying "keep politics out of sports" and "shut up and dribble." They're the very first ones who want to advertise their political beliefs, then they want to play the damn victim card.

Before someone asks, "How will they decide what's political?"...

Tax-exempt organizations raising funds for political purposes have to file paperwork with the Feds declaring their exemption as covered under specific legal codes. I suspect NASCAR's ban will block organizations registered under particular codes.

Exactly, I may be on the left politically, but those people love playing the victim

That's because they learned the word 'boycott' from the same social media sites where they learned 'censorship'. And just like 'censorship', they didn't actually LEARN what 'boycott' means either.

And for those few who do know what it means, they won't follow through anyway. They're not actually interested in boycotting, they're interested in expressing their unwarranted outrage.

I am sure their are some tax exempt organizations that pay sponsorship dollars to NASCAR teams, but I would think most corporate sponsors would be for profit organizations. For example, Brandon's recently discussed sponsor most likely would not have fallen within the scope of a tax exempt organization. All just my opinion.

I agree, but I've said all along that they're being blocked because of the F-bomb tie-in more than the politics. As far as a political ban, LBGcoin has provided NASCAR convenient cover for something they probably wish they'd done much earlier. Also just my opinions.

And Brandon loses another : Larry's Hard Lemonade

For Immediate Release: Press Release regarding Brandon Brown and NASCAR For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Vic Reynolds I am the Co-Founder and Vice president of the Original Larry’s Hard Lemonade Brewing Company.
Recently, there has been a lot of news regarding Brandonbilt Motorsports. Unfortunately, as of late, the news has been negative. I’d like to address this. First, I’d like to say Brandon Brown is an incredible human being and the Original Larry’s Hard Lemonade Brewing Company has enjoyed a 3-year relationship with his race team.
On October 2nd at Talladega Super Speedway, Brandon Brown won his first race in the number 68 Original Larry’s Hard Lemonade Chevrolet. The race was an extremely important win for Brandon, the Original Larry’s Hard Lemonade Brewing Company, and all the hard-working small businesses who have supported him for the last few years.
Unfortunately, the win was overshadowed politically and instead of becoming a time of celebration, I believe it became a season of pressure for Brandonbilt Motor Sports. Unfortunately, the pressure may have put Brandon’s race team in a position where mistakes may have been made in choosing a new sponsor instead of sticking with the companies that got him to victory lane. And for this reason, I don’t blame Brandon. I truly believe in my heart that if he had the opportunity, he would be with us and this would be a different announcement.
A wise man once told me that all money is not good money. Over the years I’ve learned that you don’t have to be blood to be family. The Original Larry’s Hard Lemonade Brewing Company will continue to build upon its long-standing relationship with NASCAR. With regards to Brandon Brown, he will always be my brother.

Man, the controversy around Brandon Brown just keeps unfolding.

Kind of feel bad for the company, to get dumped for a quasi-legal ponzi scheme? That gotta hurt.
Supposedly, the owners of that ponzi scheme had millions to give up front.

Vic Reynolds, the owner of Larry's, video was pretty good and straight-forward. Team got drawn into the potential dollar signs, but alienated all of the smaller sponsors they had.

It's a lesson of slow money beats taking a risk, at times. BMS took a risk and fell on their face.

Problem is he wouldn't of had to take the big money from LGB if the other sponsors had provided enough funding, but that was happening because some announcer couldn't tell the difference between LGB and FJB. Honestly I think he was down to taking that or not racing. Then nascar approves it and he takes the dive with the sponsor. Now nascar retracts and he's further behind than where he started.

NASCAR warned them last year not to take on a deal concerning the issue, because the sanctioning body wanting to distance themselves from the issue.

BMS tried to be slick, sent the e-mails to the wrong individual that approves the paint schemes. Not the sponsor on the car itself, I think NASCAR got caught up somewhere on the totem pole and the message was not clear. Yes, they did the drop the ball there and that is something that should be addressed in the future.

They sent the e-mail during the season break, everyone was off and no one is really checking in-depth on things like that. It's a reset for all the respected workers and because of that the team thought it was going to slide on through.

At the end of the day, reviews go all the way up the chain. If anyone at those levels see something wrong, it can be revoked. That's what happened, some a step above said no.

Please, stop blaming the announcer. This is why front stretch interviews need to be killed off. This would not have happened id they just stuck to VL interviews only again.

Yeah, don't place the blame where it belongs: on the knuckle-dragging booger-eaters doing the chanting.
Well I've heard plenty of people say bad things about the previous president as well but I didn't judge their intelligence (or lack there of based on that)

Back to the topic. There was zero association between Brandon and that chant until she created it. Accident? Yes. But at the end of the day accident or not she took what should have been the best day of his career and put his racing future in question.

.

Going to have to disagree here. Yes they said they would not approve a deal concerning this issues. However they didn't bar him from asking for approval. Asking for permission and not believing you'll get it isn't doing anything wrong. Just in this case nascar dropped the ball and made an approval they shouldn't have (in their opinion) and then retracted on it.

There would have been no association if they hadn't been chanting in the first place. An ill-advised snap judgement reaction to a boorish behavior doesn't excuse the original transgression. By your standard, if I flinch and knock over a lamp avoiding a punch, it's my fault and not the guy who swung at me.

I don't judge their intelligence on their opinion of a politician. I judge it on the words they chose to express it, the circumstances of someone else's moment, and their hiding in the anonymity of a crowd.

NASCAR approved the paint scheme. That's not the same thing as approving the sponsor. They're separate approvals, granted by different departments.

That's funny because the first line states the sponsor is approved. If you get those words in an email from someone at nascar what are you supposed to do? Like the sponsor or not, nascar just flat screwed up on this one.

You go to a meeting talking NASCAR executives concerning this in November of last year and they said not take on a deal like this.

BMS still took on the deal.

There is nothing wrong with asking, however when the team has been requested previously not to do something and still do it... What happens when you go against your sitting VP and President concerning a matter like this? They were fairly warned.

I even said NASCAR messed up somewhere in the chain, someone didn't get the message about what "LGB" means. On the surface level, its harmless. Yet, someone is checking after everyone. It was caught before it was given a full approval.

It can be kicked back at any level because the person that approves sponsors has somebody that checks behind them. NASCAR said they wanted to go apoliticial and that's what they want. It's the reason why it was denied, I agree there is work to do on behalf of NASCAR. Yet, why try pulling the rug from under the sanctioning body?

That's my issue with it all.

But at the end of the day the lamp is still broken and her comments created an association that was detrimental to his career.

I sympathize Brandon when it comes to the LGB fiasco, but he's digging his own grave with the LGBCoin sponsorship. BMS just need to come clean and apologize for trying to pull a fast one on NASCAR, it didn't work, and now they need to find a way out from behind the 8 ball.

It's like Matt D people were cool with you until you shot yourself in the foot

Its a cute way to say "holder" Buying low price crypto coins and being a "hodler" and not selling so the price increases.
Ah, thank you. Sounds like it can also also be a minor tool to persuade people to buy in near the peak so they can be cool-sounding 'HODLers', just before early buyers sell out from under them. Nothing like a membership card to get and keep some people in the flock.

Look above the first line, where it says, "Subject: Re: Brandonbilt Motorsports Paint Scheme Submission - Daytona" (Emphasis is mine).

I actually bought Doge Coin when the hype was going through the roof from the pimping by Elon Musk, I threw 400 bucks at it and sold it for $9,000. I wasnt a good hodler lol

Looks like he is gonna get paid anyway. This is how you do it, you play by the rules and go offsite where you cant be controlled. Now its on him and not NASCAR

They took their confederate flags away from them at Talladega where Brandon won the race, what else could they do lol. It wouldn't have mattered who won the race, a small group had it planned. So in it's own twisted fate way, a realitively unkown driver gets thrust into the spotlight thru no effort on his own.
The best thing about it is that Nascar has decided that no political sponsors are needed in the series, take it elsewhere.

They will allow political sponsors, just not one that says F the President. The Trump for Pres car, BLM, are as political as it gets
