Nationwide Race Thread -Road America

He seems to be a genuine nice guy. I still feel that open wheel drivers have a very hard time getting used to man handeling a car around the track, because that's a huge no-no in open wheel. Slipping and sliding all day long has to freak them out a bit.

I agree, and I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that he said he won't go ever go back to open wheel cause of his family and he doesn't want to risk his safety anymore in open wheel. I don't blame him one bit for doing that.

I thought I was the only one who saw that in him. Lets see if PK gets more rides with Turner and watch how Allgaier races him.

Should be interesting. He just always seems like a little weasel to me. At least the Busch brothers are upfront about how they are lol

Early on, Danica impressed me with her patience. I guess it's easier to be patient when you have a guaranteed ride, but she hasn't used her popularity to gain an advantage on the track. I think her next step is to show a willingness to make a few mistakes while pushing it to find the very edge of what she can do. I can see her having a 4 to 8 win Cup career, but she needs to be a bit more demanding for racing room.

I don't want to drag this thread down to another Danica thread but did you mean 4 to 8 career nationwide wins? cause there is no way in hell she gets 4 to 8 Cup wins.

Hell, Jr has only 4 wins since 05, Gordon has 4 since 08. I'm sure there are plenty of other examples.

Will some woman get that many cup wins? Sure, probably at some point in my lifetime. Will it be Danica? Not a chance.

Shined your crystal ball up this morning huh.

Jeff Gordon was first in practice 1, 2, and 3 and is front row for the race. As I have stated many times on here a happy wife is a happy life, Ergo the banana split.

Not at all but tell me this, over the last few years in the Cup series who has come up here and done much of anything but get 1 win besides Brad K?

Let's take a look at some of our recent first time winners...

Current season - Logano(got his first career non rain out win in 5 seasons)

2011 - Trevor Bayne - plate race win and can't even get a ride in the Nationwide series
David Regan - plate race win(only career win in 7 seasons)
Regan Smith - 1 career win in 6 seasons
Paul Menard - 1 career win in 9 seasons
Marcos Ambrose - 1 career win in 5 seasons

2010 - David Reutimann - got 1st career non rain out win in 7 seasons - now out of a real ride
0 real first time wins though during this season

2009 - Brad K got his first win but his was the only one that weren't rain out wins (Logano and Reutimann)

2008 - 0 first time winners

So going by this trend, it sure as hell doesn't look good for anyone new, let alone Danica.

Yea but she is "tha" Big D. She can drive like hell at times and I think if she does'nt let the naysayers get to her she will win races and do just fine.

If Danica didn't earn some serious respect yesterday than she never will. She ran with some great road racers and had a top 5 until the moron took her out. I for one think all her fans should be damn proud.
Yep. This one race should negate her career up this point. She has been a flop in NASCAR(4 top tens, 22 laps led, only finished on the lead lap 13 times, and wrecked 7 times in 39 races despite being in the best equipment in the series) and was never more than mediocre in Indycar. At some point, people are going to realize that she is a driver who has gotten where she is based soley on marketability and not on talent/results, because if that were the case she would not be racing in Hendrick/JR equipment. If career were taken into account she would have never been given a shot at NASCAR at all. And its sickening that she gets a fully funded ride on a top team while other drivers who actually have talent and a chance to accomplish something in NASCAR have to scramble to find partially funded rides in even so-so equipment. Danica Patrick is everything that is wrong with NASCAR.

Holy Moly Spike how do you really feel, huh.

I couldn't agree more. I was starting to think I was the only one.

Well now, that should ruffle some feathers for the Fanica's. :D

I kind of agree with you and Spike and I imagine we'll be tarred and feathers as "haters" for our opinions.

But, I can't even begin to guess at the number of posts about Hornish not belonging in Nascar and his lack of ability while their career records clearly show Hornish to be a far better race car driver.

I guess the media hype and marketing machine works

Hornish is one of my major comparisons when I talk about Danica.

In Indycar Hornish was a 3 time champion, in 116 races he had 19 wins, including an Indy 500 win and 47 podiums. When you compare those stats to Danica it's not even fair cause he was so much better then her.

Hornish - 116 starts, 19 wins, 47 podiums
Danica - 115 starts, 1 win, 7 podiums.

Yet when he comes to nascar, he hasn't done anything. So I really don't get why people think she's going to start doing well all the time. The only real reason they can think that is that "she was always made for nascar and shes learning"

I'm not convinced and I'll be shocked if she proves me otherwise. Will she ever win? In Cup? Not a chance. In Nationwide? Probably not. Her best shot will always be at the plate races when anything and anyone actually has a chance to win.

Don't forget the boobs, which are easy to over look. :p

No fair having a Danica haters meeting while the race is on . All the real race fans are watching the race , and here are you guys hiding out in a chat room. What do you have three members ? Come on out and watch the race. Maybe Kurt will win .
