New rules for the All-Star race

Nothing wrong with the racing, its the people who are the problem.
Yea I really havent had a problem with the racing this year or last for that matter. I am always pretty much entertained when I watch. Sure some races might be snoozers but for me I'd say I am entertained 9/10 times I watch a race. I do have a problem with the tracks they go to and the points system but thats not relevant to how the actual racing product is. In fact I'd say since 2014 the racing has been pretty exciting.

Clarification, please. Exactly which people? The ones in the stands, on the sofas, in the team offices and shops, in Daytona, or somewhere else?
The ones who have unrealistic expectations and think they are gonna see side by side racing every week at every track, photo finishes, like we used to have back in the old days when racing was great................no wait

Well If I may... I will personally speak for myself in that I know all races dont end side by side, real life racing isnt a video game that much I know. I would say and I dont think I am out of turn here in saying this is that most fans miss the over sized personalities of the drivers and week by week storylines. Watching old races on You Tube, its almost like it was a soap opera. The drivers seem so sensitized and sterile now, I feel it adds to the apathy that fans feel. At least it does for me and maybe thats because I dont watch the Pre Race shows anymore ( still do for Indy and did for F1 before ESPN) but something is just missing. I could go on and on and on about the points system and maybe thats a huge piece. But stylistically speaking, the actual on track racing is so good right now IMO I feel fans are missing out if they arnt watching at least a bit of each race each week.

Larry Mac and I disagree about whether 4 decreasing shorter stages count as 'gimmicks', and that's completely overlooking the testing aspects of a unique car configuration.

I agree the racing is better, so why spoil it with more plates, makes absolutely zero sense.

The All Star race is going to be about survival. Trying to hang in there and get the million bucks.

It's still just entertainment --- no matter how big the payday.

it's all entertainment :idunno: Non points with a million dollars to win, winner take all. It's the All Star race. Have fun with it. It's like it is the end of the world with some..gees don't watch it if it is going to upset ya, Dance club or singer tryouts, watch something. :D

It would be interesting if there were only minimal rules. Like engine size, anything else is legal. You could see what they really can do with a car.

Its Like they have to buy the plate, and make the changes on the car. The only requirement for them is to tune in and watch with a cold beverage and have friends over and socialize, play draft kings or make up their own race pool. Good times to be had...........if you want to that is.

If it is anything like the Xfinity race they were blocking like crazy, doing sling shot passes, drafting and dirty dancing all over the place. I think some feuds will be settled and some will be created.

Things tested in this race have a history of being adopted into the regular season. Stages, for example. I don't see NASCAR testing a set-up just so they can run it once a year.

Exactly but some here are too blind to see that!
I'm not going to attribute traits ("too blind") to people I know only through a handful of Internet posts.

I will go as far as agreeing their opinions differ from ours. There have been other things tried at this race that haven't materialized - inversions, etc. But those were obvious gimmicks.
