NFL 2013

Pretty sad that ESPN has been talking more about Tony Romo's "clutch performance" this morning than about Peyton Manning breaking the record for TD passes in a season. Dallas beat a 3-11 team by one point. I'm not sure why ESPN and Fox are so hell bent on insisting that we should root for this guy.

Peyton breaking the record was the highlight of my day. The Browns game was pretty hideous, but at least it helps them in the draft next year.

I just saw that Von Miller tore an ACL and is done for the season. I love Peyton and would love to see him get at least one more ring. The biggest obstacle to that happening this year has always been their defense. Losing Von Miller makes it even tougher.

I'm pretty sure Jerry is behind the promotion

Just saw where Romo's done for the year due to his back. Guess he won't have a chance to choke it away this year.

Yeah, I was surprised too. I didn't think there was anything wrong with his back.

Think him and Garrett got together on this one. They were gonna get smoked at home this weekend by Philly. The good news is this will be the excuse and they'll keep the personal together for at least another year. Another year of Cowboys bad fortunes is a good Christmas present:D

Worst part is that if Dallas loses to Philly, we'll have to endure an entire off season of Cowboys fans saying how they would have won had Romo played. Makes me almost want Dallas to win now. Almost.

I can live with the "would have" talk. What I can't stand would be the "we made it" talk.Especially if My Steelers don't make it.

Steelers could still get in, but they're a long shot. They need to beat Cleveland (should be able to do that), and hope for the Dolphins, Ravens, and Chargers to lose. Ravens are playing the Bengals ( they could very well lose that one) and the Dolphins are playing the Jets (they probably won't lose that one, but could). It's that Chiefs-Chargers game you should be worried about. KC is locked into the #5 seed, so they're probably gonna pull a lot of their starters.

The last regular game of the season kinda sucks. The top teams usually don't play the starters. It's kinda like pre season.

I have not read of anyone claiming Romo is the best in any context.
As a life long Cowboy fan (going back to 70-71) I know he is not another Staubach or Aikman. He is more comparable to Danny White.
They should not win Sunday and even if the bizzare occurs and they do, it probably would be more harmful then good. There defense sucks, and Monte Kiffin (sp?) should go, Garrett probably needs to go as well, at this point house keeping probably is better than a temporary win (no chance of a SB win with the worst defense in the NFL).

Romo's role was going to be secondary to me next week anyway, Philly has played well enough recently to blow them away, and I expected as much prior to todays announcment that Romo was done for the season..

That being said the total hate for him is a hard thing for me to understand. I have heard Gruden gush over him and some blowback is expected. But that seems more like his problem, not Romos.

They going to play this drama out all week.
The Dallas Cowboys season just took an interesting turn.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport is reporting that quarterback Tony Romo suffered a herniated disk and is believed to need surgery to repair the injury at some point, per a source who has spoken with the player.

Coach Jason Garrett told reporters Monday that Romo spent Monday receiving treatment on the injury and the team will address the injury on a day-by-day basis.

"He was able to play through it, and play very well at the end of that ball game," Garrett said Monday. "We evaluated it last night after the game and again this morning. ... There's going to be a series of different things we do for his treatment over the next few days and see how he responds to it."

Romo's status for Sunday is unknown. Garrett said that the team has yet to make a determination.

"Like with any player, the day after a game, you want to see what the injury is, and we've done that with Tony," Garrett said. "We want to get him involved in treatment as quickly as we can and we've started that process."

I don't get the animosity toward him either. Sure, he has blown a couple of games, but what QB hasn't? He doesn't whine and cry like Brady after he gets hit or make excuses when he looses. Last year, he had to deal with WR's not knowing the playbook....everytime they came out of the huddle, he was telling them where to lineup. That's a problem with coaching and discipline...something the Cowboys don't have.

While Jerry Jones is there, much like Synder with the Redskins, they will continue to be mediocre at best. He will never get a coach that he doesn't have complete control over and he will always been in he war room during the draft. He needs to sit in his box and watch the game and count his money.

Get a good coach with some balls and see how much the team improves.

I can see the MNF telecast on ESPN now.....

Tony Romo has injured his back, but he might be able to play Sunday, he's day to day, what a gutsy performance playing while he was injured yesterday, he has the most 4th quarter comebacks of any active QB.....by the way, the 49ers lead the Falcons 17-3 with 3:48 to play in the first half....Romo is a warrior and a true champion, if the Cowboys don't it'll because of Tony's absence, Romo has a great record in November.....

I believe the MNF crew would marry Romo if they could.

Looking for a 49er win tonight.
I'm a huge Tony Gonzalez fan so I'm a little split there.
Go Niners...Go Tony Gonzalez. :beerbang:
If they don't win they should be shipped off to Gitmo Bay immediately.

Now Dallas will be forced to give Murray 20+ carries and the Cowboys will make the playoffs. What a shame.

As long as the Eagles don't do our usual and let backup quarterbacks beat us.

I would thik a healthy Orton would be better than a hurt Romo. But what do I know.Either way I think they lose.

I kind of hope he plays and plays well. I don't think it will make much difference though. I like the Cowboys, but they have one of the worst defenses I've ever seen and I've been watching football for nearly 40 years. I think the way the Eagles looked against Chicago was really impressive. The again, the Eagles looked horrible the week before in getting stomped by a bad Minnesota team.

It looks like Aaron Rodgers is going to start for GB on Sunday. The Bears and Lions blew their opportunity to wrap up the North big-time.

All kidding aside about Romo, the guy actually is having a great year statistically: 31 TD's, 10 INT's, and a 96.8 QB rating. I know that Dallas' defense is atrocious as well. Having said that however, the guy still gets WAAAAYYYYY too much love from ESPN and Fox.
