Awesome news for the Pats continued success into the 2018 season.....

Al Riveron resigned with the Patriots for another one year deal.

Alberto Riveron, head of NFL officiating, to return in '18

Alberto Riveron, the NFL's senior vice president of officiating, will return for the 2018 season, an NFL spokesman confirmed to NFL.com on Tuesday.

The spokesman said Riveron, who is wrapping up his first season as the head of the league officiating, has the support of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Riveron took over after the NFL's former head of officiating, Dean Blandino, left for Fox Sports last year.

Riveron has helped oversee the league's transition to a centralized review system to assist referees making calls on replay. Riveron, a former on-field NFL official, has final say on all calls that are reviewed on replayed from the league's command center in New York.

His first season in the new role hasn't been without its share of questionable calls and continued confusion over the catch rule.

Man, the only Super Bowl matchup that would be any worse has to be Patriots-Cowboys. America's taking a big L in this one.

I wasn't too excited about this Super Bowl matchup at first, but now I'm getting pretty amped up for it. Hopefully the next week and a half goes by pretty quick.
I think if Philly can start strong it will be a good game, but if the falter in the 1st quarter, end up giving up 10 or more points, this game will be over at half time. Eagles have to keep this game close for at least 3 quarters to have any chance of winning.

The sad part is, a Patriots/Cowboys Super Bowl would probably shatter records. And the Jacksonville/Minnesota Super Bowl most fans wanted would've been a ratings disaster.

Win or lose, the Patriots will tie a record in Super Bowl LII. If they win, they'll tie the Steelers for most Super Bowl wins with 6. If they lose, they'll tie the Broncos for most Super Bowl losses with 5.
