NFL 2023-2024

Bizarre set of play calls on third and fourth down there by the Titans. Felt like a complete lack of situational awareness.

Not the day Tyreek was hoping for thus far, that's for sure. That was an enormous swing in a game that was about to be 14-7 instead.

Especially against a Chiefs team that has let a lot of teams hang around with them this season.

The only consistent this season has been that the Chiefs defense is the best it's been in the Reid / Mahomes era. Otherwise, it feels like both teams are highly inconsistent and either could be leading by a couple scores. The Chiefs came ready to avenge last week's embarrassment, it seems.

Chiefs defense is underrated every year IMO.

If the media can create the narrative that the Chiefs defense is somehow not very good, it allows them to further their narratives about Mahomes and Kelce.

Isiah Pacheco doesn’t get enough credit either.

It’s amazing how the narratives are the exact opposite from Brady. Back then, it was “Brady is overrated, the Patriots have Bellichick, a great defense, and great receivers.”

No, the 2023 Chiefs are fourth in defensive rank by yards allowed per game, and second in points allowed per game. They have not been in the top 10 in either during any other year of Mahomes' career.

This is the first and only season in which the defense has been the stronger unit.

Brady had a top OL his whole career, always had time to throw, never got hit, never even had to leave the pocket (which is good for him, since he's slow as molasses). it seemed like there was always someone open. The Patriots did such a great job of finding players that fit their scheme, and then when Brady went down in Week 1 of '08, Matt freakin Cassel (who had not started a game since high school) came in and led them to an 11-5 record. That just fueled the narrative that Brady was propped up by the "system", and yeah, I was one of those fans who called him overrated.

But seeing him go to Tampa Bay and immediately win the title when he's well into his 40s? Yeah, he proved that he's the man. One season with the Bucs completely changed my opinion of him. Not to mention New England's offense has been a dumpster fire ever since he left, which kind of proves Belichick was pretty much riding Brady's coattails.

And the Chiefs' defense will have to save the day again, as the Dolphins have turned the momentum around.

Idiotic penalty by Chris Jones giving the Dolphins another shot and really tempting fate.

The Chiefs' continued lack of ability / faith in a 3rd / 4th and short running game continues to be a major liability. There are at least a dozen teams in the league that can easily pick that up in that situation and finish the game. With the Chiefs, 3rd and 1 is a confounding mystery and time to get cute.
