Just wondering who you guys think will take it? and what you think about the possibility of a winless champion? I think there was a thread somewhere I could have put this in but I couldn't find it.

I think Dillon takes it by a bigger gap than he has right now.. I also think that if he goes winless that would actually be quite an accomplishment. Although it does directly relate to the fact that Cup regulars have won most of the NNS races this season. I wouldn't mind seeing a chase like end of season, but instead of separating the top 10 or 12 from the rest of the field, for the final 10 races they should just make drivers only be able to enter races in the series in which they are eligible for driver points. Although I doubt that will ever happen due the fact that the sponsors run the sport.

Dillon might not be winning races but he's finishing top 5-10 just about every week. Sam needs a little luck this week even though he's just a handful of points back.

Thats the thing though.. without the cup guys he would probably have 4 or more wins this season. Im pretty sure he's finished right behind them quite a few times.

For this?.. I haven't been there for a bit.. I just found this article and figured I'd share. This was easier than looking through threads to see what topics they evolved into lol
Check it out, there are some pretty good posts on there.

This will be the first step in taking the Cuppers off this series.

Without them ruining the races this would be a non-issue.
I never saw much of a problem with it.. at least not that they should have made big changes for until this started happening. It's most likely going to be Joey or Kyle that wins this race... and I think Dillon will win the championship. For this to be the first time it will ever happen in any NASCAR series is going to be a big deal to a lot of people.

I hope so. It'd be nice to some limitations on them and maybe it'll lead to different tracks. The Champion should be the best in the series, not the best non regular Cup driver.

The cuppers aint leaving Reck, not while im runnin the show anyway

Joey Logano will be champ :partytime
I dont doubt he'll take Penske to the owners championship... as far as Im concerned there will be two 2 man races going on around 39 other cars. And I bet they'll both be good. Wouldn't be surprised to see Joey, Kyle, Dillon and Hornish all finish in the top 4.

I posted this in the other thread where we were talking about this.

Some of you are bitching about Austin Dillon shouldn't win the NNS championship without a win. Here are a couple of facts, Sam Hornish only won one race and it was at Las Vegas.
In 3 races Austin Dillon came in behind cup drivers and no NNS drivers. He should or could have won the races if there were NNS drivers only in the races.
Texas, 1st- Kybu, 2nd- Brad K, 3rd- Austin Dillon.
Bristol, 1st- Kybu, 2nd- Brad K, 3rd- Austin Dillon
Charlotte, 1st- Kybu, 2nd- Austin Dillon.

Who knows what would have happened without the cup drivers being in the Nationwide races but it would have been fun to find out.

I'll say it again, I hope Dillon wins the title with no victories and NASCAR makes some significant changes because it seems like many fans are upset with the Penske/Gibbs prick-waving contest.

I think there were only four races this year that weren't won by JGR or Penske.

You dont trust in my stats Johali? :(

Sam would be living large right now if it wasn't for the cuppers.

I will be enjoying watching Kyle Busch win at least 15 Nationwides next year. Put that in your pipe and smoke it haters :puffin:

Yep, I am a Sam fan, but I truly think he has had a better season except for 2 races. Other than that he has out performed Dillion.

Agreed.

It will be a sad weekend if Hornish doesn't pull it off.

I have no idea what else he could have done.

Nice start Sam....

Mike Helton just said no changes will be made.
Maybe not this year, but if we have 3 or 4 straight years of winless NNS champions, they may be forced to re-visit the issue.

I've mentioned in the past the idea of putting a 60-race cap on the number if races a driver can enter across the three major series' in one season, and I still think it would be a good idea. It doesn't take the Cup guys completely out of NNS and NCWTS, but would limit the amount of times they could run in the lower series'. That way, maybe an NNS regular could actually win every now and then.

Makes no difference to me if the champion has a win or not. The driver that earns the most points during the year should be the champion IMO. Unfortunately NASCAR listened the last time the vocal few cried about this we ended up with the Chase. I only hope NASCAR isn't listening to this, this time. Who knows what they'd come up with?

They can always put a restrictor plate on all the Cupper's N-Wide cars.
