HEY--why wasn't that rule implemented back in 2005 when Gordon won at Martinsville after missing the chase entirely?
Because Gordon fell asleep right after the race and forgot to ask.

There should be an AJ Allmendinger rule. If you fall out of the first round, you should be advanced to the 2nd round so you can fall out of that one too.

This is still anyone's cup to win right now. Non chasers winning this round so far has really made it interesting.

I just don't see this as racing. Sure, all of these antics make for good TV, but it just doesn't do much for me in crowning a champion. I have NEVER been a fan of the chase. And I absolutely HATE that four drivers will go in to Homestead on equal footing. You may have a couple guys that won 4 or 5 this year, against a couple of guys with 1 or no wins. It is nonsense to me.

I can agree with that statement.
For me though, realizing that the Chase is here to stay, this is by far the most entertaining of the versions that they've come up with yet. That's one of the reason that I've been a fan for this sport for so long, I find it entertaining. Since 2004, I couldn't care less who won the Championship because all previous comparisons were lost. The Chase is here to stay. It may as well be as entertaining as it can be. What I'm watching has been pretty damn good.

What I find interesting is those who are saying the old way was better, because it rewarded consistency are the same people that are saying Denny Hamlin and Ryan Newman don't deserve to be in the top 4. So which way is it?
