I agree, stick a fork in him...he's done. Kasey needs another win, which I don't think he'll have a problem getting.
 
I have conceded that Jeff won't make the chase, he would definitely need at least two wins and have to get back in the top twenty in twelve races, I don't see it. I will have to root for five time to become six time, and KK and nah,nah,nah, still looking for Jeff to add to those 85 wins though

If I were a fan of his, I think I'd at least be holding out hope through race #25 and then see where he's at. He could win two in a heartbeat and those two could be race #25 & #26.

That's great, if the guys ahead of him with one win don't win another one before the Chase I'd say his chances are good too. I just think a couple of the guys ahead of him are gonna get another win so that means he'd have to win 2 and pass them in points. That's why I think he's gonna need 3 and I don't see that happening for him, especially if yesterday is any indication of the gambles they're willing to take to get them.

Sure, they could go on a tear and win 5 races but having low expectations is less painful. This year has included too much pain already.

I just watched my recording of NASCAR Now (insomnia sucks) and Ricky didn't say what you claim he did. He was very clear that Jeff could get in as a wild card by getting wins, much like Keselowski did last year.

The Wild Card race is the most interesting imo.


Edwards is pivotal. If he wins, or scraps his way back into a top 10 position in points , it will hurt the wild card hopes of a few.


Kahne, Logano, and Newman each have a win and are currently tied in points, as well as currently tied for the final wildcard spot.

Gordon as bad as his luck has been, could be in the hunt with a win, he only trails them by 10 points. So a win by him coupled with some consistency could still possibly work.



Note: Kyle Busch is in a better position because he has a 30 point cushion and currently the first wild card spot. But Edwards getting back in the top 10, plus another win by the Kahne, Logano, or Newman knocks him out.



These are 6 to watch imo.

He also just stated on Victory Lane that it's important to be the points leader now and going into Richmond. I'll be waiting for his interview if he loses that lead next week ;)
 
As is understandable, KyBu is upset about his finish yesterday but still stands a good chance to make the chase with one more win. The question is will he be able to keep himself and the Toyota engine together long enough to make a difference?
 
I think Carl wins Michigan and puts his name in the wild card hat. Two shorts tracks still, it's looking good for Kyle. Jeff is great at Atlanta though. It's gonna be great to watch.
 
Any comparison to Jeff this year and Kez last year isn't very valid. Kez was 11th in points, was running well, and only needed 1 win to keep that spot. Those are 3 things Gordon doesn't have.

Jeff's biggest problem is he ran like crap at a track he is pretty good at. His second biggest problem is the other 2 guys in the top 20 with a win, and it doesn't look like Harvick will drop out of the top 10, or Kasey will move into a top 10 spot. 3 guys for 1 spot, and Jeff and Allen showed they weren't up to the task at WGI. They were 'junk' all day, and then Jeff pressed too hard and messed up late, killing a decent points day.
