Just for fun these two pictures show the difference between and engine and engine compartment of a 1,000,000 dollar team car and a 20,000,000 dollar team car. See if you can figure out which is which.

Nice pics. You're absolutely right about the build quality of the cars ... one of my favorite things.

It looks like you had a great time and that's what it's all about. You took some great pictures thanks for posting them.

Thank you! Great, great pics! :headbang:

Glad you guys like them, glad to post and share them. I had a blast last Thursday and Friday in the Garage and pits, met a lot of good race fans and teams. :D I was the most impressed with the details on the cars and driver compartments. I have sat in a number of race cars and driven some, but, these seats are like cocoons. The way they protect the legs and knees was very interesting. Hats off to them for driver safety.

How happy was the crew with that engine bay shot?
I've taken several hundred pictures of every step in the garage, inspection stations, pits, race shops and have never even got a sideways glance. Apparently they could care less.

That's interesting. I was at Michigan a couple of years ago, and the inspectors were doing some last second checks of something in the engine bay, and crews/security were going nuts over some fans trying to take pics. Also talked to a photog from LAT, and she told me that they get really antsy anytime she wants a bay shot. Must be your charm. :D

Probably. Everybody loves me.

You guessed wrong, I asked them first and they said OK, nice bunch of guys.
Yep. Same experience I've had for many many years. Maybe some people just hang around and pester the crews too much. :D

I'm not much of a shopper, but I ventured out to the merch trailers about 90 minutes before the Cup race began to buy a Wood Bros. tee shirt. There were customers lined up at the Ford and Chevrolet trailers. Same for the Penske and Gibbs trailers. There was a 88 Dale Junior trailer, and not a single customer was present. I was very surprised to see that. It was just one observation at one moment, but it was prime shopping time and it surprised me.

I didn't count hats or tee shirts in the crowd, but I saw a lot of Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski, Chase Elliott, Tony Stewart, and some Dale Jr. And others too, but less common than those I listed. Not a scientific poll.

Stopped at a porta john that was right behind a Jr hauler and there was a mountain of empty boxes out back. Only other pile if boxes I seen was Chase Elliitts and it was probably a third the size of Jrs. I wasn't going around looking for empty boxes but those are tbe two I noticed. Of course I bought some Kyle Busch merchandise.

Pretty cool, Monster is putting in a lot of time and money with their pre-race shows and promotions. Much more than Sprint did. Monster girls aren't bad either :p

The at the track Monster experience is certainly different and much better in our opinion than previous sponsors. A lot more upbeat and unique than the others were.

Heaven forbid, the pictures show young people there having a good time.:p No disrespect and nothing but respect for the older crowd who for years have supported the sport and continue to so

Newbie here... headed to our very first practice at the Brickyard... it'll be our very first time seeing the cars on track... but that doesn't mean we don't know how to have fun... We went to Mark Martin's Fan Appreciation Days this spring... Tony Stewart and Bill Elliott were his "guests" along with his longtime friend and partner Larry Shaw... if you have not ever been, I welcome you to my state (Arkansas) to visit it! The school was eventually signed by all and copies were made to turn in to the school - and yes, it was excused. :D

Great pictures....... thanks. I have been a Mark Martin fan since the 80's...... also grew up not too far from Batesville. I don't live there now but still have fond memories of the area. Great to see Larry Shaw was there. He and Julian (Mark's dad) put in a lot of work, money and hours into Mark's early years.

A few observations about attending New Hampshire International Speedway yesterday.
1) Arrived for the 3 o'clock start just after 11. Traffic was an easy roll into the track and I was only delayed for a minute or two.
2) Free parking with shuttle to stands.
3) Relately small midway.
4) Cheapest cup ticket was $35, which was cheaper than Saturday"s ticket.
5) Only track I recall where race style shirts were the minority.
6) Many fans came in late, left early and walked around talking, seemingly oblivious to the race. Stands probably about 30% full.
7) Racing was mostly single file, patient passing, no high groove close to wall and not many drivers "loose" wheeling it through corners. At least Larson made the finish interesting.
8) Multiple VL interviews was redundant.
9) Waited about an hour and a half, took tram back to truck.
10) Waited another hour and pretty much drove out non stop.
Overall it was OK. I don't think I would go out of my way or travel specifically to attend a race here.

Here are a few from Pocono 2. Tried to take more but have a new phone and I'm terrible with it. Good time at the track yesterday. A rare cloudless Pocono sky and not too hot.
