Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

Play off, or is it “playoff,” points playing into a championship.

Ahhhhh…. A real champion of real racing.

A great stat of affairs.

How does one acquire playoff points? I thought I knew.... but I don't.

Stage #1 winner = 1 bonus point
Stage #2 winner = 1 bonus point
Stage #3 winner = 5 bonus points (exception Charlotte - Coke 600)

The sum of those points are carried throughout the Chase, err, playoffs.

HMS GM Doug Duchardt leaving...

http://nascar.nbcsports.com/2017/06/06/general-manager-doug-duchardt-leaving-hendrick-motorsports/

General manager Doug Duchardt will leave Hendrick Motorsports at the end of the month, the team announced Tuesday.
In a release, Duchardt, who has been with the team for more than 12 years, said he “felt this is the right time in my life to pursue other goals. It was a difficult decision to make, but I feel this is the right time in my life to pursue other goals.”

Not sure this is even close to being as big of a deal as it is in other sports, but Duchardt was a very visible figure at HMS and has been there for some time, so it's news to HMS fans nonetheless.

Wow. That's pretty big. I'm curious about who they might have in mind to replace him

It looked as if that garbage truck was doing a qualifying run albeit backwards.

Doug Duchardt to the 5

Only sport in the world where the product (racing) was so bad the driver's wanted a car that's harder to drive. And I agree.
