Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

NASCAR has eliminated the rule that NASCAR Cup teams must start the race on the tires they use in qualifying. The move is to eliminate any advantage teams that fail prequalifying inspection and don't make a qualifying lap would have entering the race.

I've been wondering if there wasn't an advantage there that made it worth it. Then I figured new tires weren't worth all that much if you started in the back. ???

There have been a number of the faster cars that started in the back and came to the front quickly this year. It sure will make that harder to do.

'Bout time. That was another ill-considered move, producing the tire-saving results that any crew chief could have predicted with a couple of minutes to figure out how to game it. Heck, half the armchair crew chiefs here had a handle on it pretty quickly.

Sticker tires for everyone after qualifying
to stop non qualifiers for having an advantage. Advantage = Goodyear!:D

it's about time. Any half-competent crew chief could figure out that at some tracks, having fewer laps on the tires was more than worth the poorer starting position. NASCAR didn't think this one through before they implemented it, as usual.

I'm sure they didnt think teams would sacrifice penalty's, pit road selection, and reduced practice times. However this goes against saving the teams money. My solution is much easier, No pre qualifying tech, everyone qualifies, Tech will be after qualifying. If you fail you will still be starting on your qualifying tires and starting in the back. You fail the following week, you start on your qualifying tires and have to do a pass through coming to the green. Next offense, you will do a stop and go coming to the green.

Sounds very sensible.

We normally don't agree on much but this is a great idea.

Another one of those things that wasn't illegal until someone decided to try it. Nice while it lasted.
Fans who have been camping out for days to see their driver and the sponsors will love that idea
What's the problem? Their driver still starts. Is it that much different from the ones who don't get through tech, don't get to attempt Q, and start at the back now? Get your $hi+ together and it won't be a problem. The majority of cars get through tech every week.
