Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

Atlanta slashing ticket prices. I'm shocked. Why, how can this happen?

AMS announces more affordable ticket pricing for 2020 NASCAR weekend

I am glad to see this. When I went in February I paid over $100 for a ticket on the front stretch and it was not a prime seat. Hopefully along with the new date, this will help get a few more fans to that track. Atlanta is one of my favorite tracks.

Another change for Nascar, this one being Sonoma, they are going to run the carousel (hairpin) the shaded portion on the right

Good read, raises a lot of questions

Ryan: Kyle Busch has been the best, but is his Cup sword the sharpest?
https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2019/0...-been-the-best-but-is-his-sword-the-sharpest/

Reading a bit more he provides this interesting tidbit.

"According to statistics provided by Smith on his Positive Regression podcast with Alan Cavanna, cars lining up on the outside retained positions 93% of the time while those on the inside kept their spots at a rate of only 9%."

I watched Blaney almost always start on the inside lane and drop a position or two. This is the kind of track where deciding at the "cone" which lane the driver starts in makes sense. Otherwise a team can actually be penalized by having a good pit stop or rewarded by having a bad stop.

Watching Barrett Jackson, and Rick Hendrick just bought Dale Earnhardt's #8 Goodwrench Nova he raced in the Busch Series in '86. Pretty cool. Sold for $190k

Not hating on NASCAR, but I found it funny that they keep doing these 4 wide salutes & the 5 wide salute they had a few races ago..

Guess they wanna be more like WoO because their racing is much better.

Pretty awesome race last night. I didn't mind Truex getting his first ST win and loved watching Kyle struggle once he got back to the top 5. Of course it was great seeing 2/3 of "Team Penske"
running up front. What's up with that Buescher running top 10 all day and gets a 22nd place finish?? That team seems to be on the verge of some good finishes.

JTG has Hendrick engines instead of RCR now. The 37 has been fairly competitive in a quite a few races.

I have noticed that, I just never thought the engine itself would make that much difference.
It sure hasn't helped the HMS car this season.

Looks like they were able to pull alongside each other without dirty air preventing it, but they need to work on sideforce.

Meanwhile Jimmie fell behind early and there weren't enough yellows to get the Lucky Dog or wavearound. But seriously, he has my respect. I've never done any more than a half marathon, and it wasn't in race conditions. He maintained a 7 minute pace for the full 26. At his age, that's impressive.

I might finish a marathon in 13 DAYS. LOL
Way to go, Jimmie.

I assume they aren't running 9a and the shorter turn 11.

Lots of changes to New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Sounds cool

New Hampshire Motor Speedway announces fan improvements

Not sure if this is the same as drink rails, when I went to Atlanta I was able to stand along a fence at the end of the frontstretch grandstand the entire race and really enjoyed that. Most any race I go to alone I prefer to stand. So I think the drink rails is a good change.

Sterling also has a daughter named Sutherlin
And, I kid you not, his daughter is married to a guy named Micheal House. They have a son, guess what they named him? Brick. I am serious as a heart attack. Micheal runs open wheel modifieds at Highland Rim, Nashville and occasionally Huntsville. He's very good I might add. I think the grandson that's running late models is 14 or so.
