Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

I'll be heading to MIS on Sunday only which means I'll be skipping the truck race for the first time in many years. I know I must be getting spoiled when I am actually becoming bored with MIS. I've been there on probably 30-35 different occasions over the years which has caused my enthusiasm to wane. Maybe I'm not as die-hard a fan as some of you but I think I've put in more than my fair share of time, money and effort towards supporting NASCAR this year and years past. But still, I feel kind of guilty for not going on Saturday.

And Brian loves you for it.:D

According to Jayski.....

Jamie Mac signed his extension in May.

Also RPM is in negotiations with Fo*d and Fo*d has not signed yet. With Dodge out that'd leave To**ta and Chevrolet as the only options. I'd hate to see that Petty 43 on a To**ta.

What Petty and Murstein said was interesting. It's seems like Penske coming in marginalized RPM, something we all knew would happen. So they go to Dodge, maybe just to get a better deal out of Ford, and Dodge screws up the plan. Now RPM is in an even worse negotiating position with Ford.

Ford wants to grow their camp, so I'm confident they will sign Petty, but probably for the bare minimum.

Another random nascar thought. When I look at how unreliable Toyota has been over the last 2 seasons, how could a guy like Kenseth even consider going there?

It's still slightly possible Home Depot grabbed Matt and took their cash elsewhere.

Joey Logano appears to be the leading candidate to replace AJ Allmendinger at Penske Racing next year, but team owner Roger Penske says he has made no decision yet. Penske has had a couple of weeks to talk to candidates for the ride, but said Sunday he has made no decision. Logano has driven the last four years for Joe Gibbs Racing but the organization has not been able to put sponsorship together to keep him in a Cup car for 2013. Gibbs is expected to announce soon that it has hired Matt Kenseth to replace Logano in the #20 car for next season. Team officials have said they would like to keep Logano but fielding a full-time Cup car for him would depend on finding sponsorship to start a fourth team.
Ryan Newman and Brian Vickers also have been mentioned as possible candidates for the ride, but Newman has said he is focused on staying with Stewart-Haas Racing and the team is working on sponsorship for next season.(Sporting News)(8-14-2012)

That's a good point. Keneseth may end up wishing that Allmendinger tested positive a few months sooner than he did;)

Money money money MONEY:D

I would be surprised if Matt is at the point in his career.

Hey you stole that from a song. :D

I believe the 4 moneys make it OK.

My thinking was that Penske or someone else adds another team with Home Depot as sponsor. Someone had said maybe Tony was reuniting with Home Depot, but that seems impossible.

Matt to JGR just doesn't make sense to me. Even MWR seems more likely.

Hopefully youre right, Matt with Home Depot goes to Penske or someone else with a ford (oh excuse me GP F++D) or Chevy.

I'm not really predicting anything, just that Matt seems like a smart guy.

To continue this fantastic FORD fantasy, what if Brad wins for Dodge this year, and Matt wins a second for Penske next year? Jack would surely scratch his eye out in frustration.

From a performance stand point, heading to JGR from RFR doesn't make too much sense. IMO, Kenseth would make a nice fit with Penske. It also wouldn't surprise me if Penske added another team for Hornish.

Smart or not smart I still think Kenseth's going to JGR. I don't think there's a chance he ends up at Penske. We all new about Kenseth leaving Roush before the Allmendinger deal went down. It was said then that Kenseth already had his ride lined up. I'm going Kenseth @ JGR and Logano @ Penske.

I believe that to be the most likely scenario and I do think there's a chance he's off to Penske - although remote at best.

As for Allmendinger, he was under 1 year contract and may have been on his way out the door anyway...who knows?

Matt and Home Depot at JGR seems the most likely. Then again, MWR has been aggressive in picking up sponsors and drivers. They have that 55 team all ready to go as a 3rd fulltime ride with Home Depot on the hood.

My dream is Logano to the #22 and Matt with Home Depot to a 3rd Penske team. It probably was Penske that bumpped Matt loose in the first place by courting Stenhouse. If Matt knows Penske made Ricky an offer that forced Jack to counter, he would know there is a ride available there. I could see Penske doing a sweet truck rental deal for Home Depots stores like he did to get Pennzoil.

May of last year.

Matt is 40 + ,he needs to set himself up with a good paycheck for the next five years .Roush was dinking around with iffy sponsorship packages and bigger paychecks going to Biffle and Edwards. It only seems reasonable for Matt to take the big contract with Gibbs along with a big personal services contract with Home Depot . He'll put Katie and the kids out to work making commercials and in five years time, he can crew chief for his son.
