Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

He'd be the first to win a championship in all 3 series which would be cool to see.

Suppose it'll be a side note or the media will feast on it for an entire season? And would that make him the greatest Nascar driver of all time or do the lower ranks not matter?

Huh? Greatest of all time? Nah. Now you're sounding like the media, which is already cranking up the series sweep hype. IMO, winning in 1 series, then moving up to the next will become much more frequent. The days of teams looking for the next Jeff Gordon and finding some kid to put straight in a cup car are over.

You're probably right. She had to work this morning so I'm just looking for someone to harass for a while :D

From Jayski's:
Sadler out at RCR? going to JGR in 2013?: Richard Childress, owner of RCR, tells Claire B Lang on the SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Pre-Race Show that Elliott Sadler has not re-signed with the company[for 2013], Sadler currently leads the Nationwide Series points. Rumors floating around have Sadler going to Joe Gibbs Racing to run full-time in the Nationwide Series and run a 4th JGR Sprint Cup Series car part-time in 2013.(9-2-2012)

New team to debut at Richmond. From jayski

Mark Green is entered in the #0 Blue Ox Toyota to be fielded by the SS Motorsports team. Not much is known about the team, but it is bases in Kannapolis, NC and per it's facebook page which has been active since early 2011: "We will be using a combination of knowledge and experience to build a current COT cup car using used parts and chassis. We currently own several COT chassis and most of the necessary parts to build a complete car. Our short term goal is a test planned for early this summer." The page shows some images of the car, which included Toyota's from JTG Daughtery Motorsports and Michael Waltrip Racing. No idea of further plans for the team are posted. Steve Leicht, currently driving the #33 Chevy, tested the car in May 2012 at Caraway Speedway. No crew chief is currently listed for the team.(9-4-2012)

So they pieced together a car from old wrecked cars? Another S&P entry.

David Gilliland crewman OK after lift gate accident.

A Front Row Motorsports crewman who fell off the lift gate while trying to load the David Gilliland car on the team hauler following the Sprint Cup race Sunday at Atlanta Motor Speedway was released from the hospital Monday.

Aaron Pierrat, gasman for the team, underwent X-rays for a possible broken back and broken hip, but those X-rays came back negative, according to a team statement.

Sprint Cup teams store their cars in the top section of their transporters. The back of the hauler folds back and is lowered to the ground, where the car is then rolled on to it and it then rises to the top of section of the transporter so the car can be loaded. Pierrat apparently fell during this process.
Pierrat is back home in North Carolina and will be evaluated again later this week.

From here.

Apparently, someone drained the recharge unit and spilled liquid on the gate and never cleaned it up, which caused Aaron to slip. He's also new to the crew.

Darian Grubb 4, Tony Stewart 3.

Tony knows that Addington is saving his best stuff for the chase, like he always does.

My prediction is Tony's going to fall like a rock from here on in. All the other teams are stepping it up, and that's when Addington shows his limitations.

Jim France has 10 am news conference tomorrow in Daytona. Presumably to announce Grand-AM and ALMS merger.

Yeah all 4 of those wins were entirely because of DG and Hamlin had nothing to do with it.

Wait, are you arguing that Denny is a better driver than Tony? That's the only way that works out. Denny is good, but he's no Tony Stewart.

Of course not. I'm just saying people are giving credit to DG for Denny winning 4 races this season. As if he's driving the car or something.

I'm just thinking it through. Grubb was well into the chase before Tony won 4, and in his first year with Hamlin, he's won 4 before the chase starts while Tony is falling back.

Time will tell, but Tony made a huge mistake getting Addington. First Kyle, then Kurt, Steve hasn't ever stepped it up in the chase.

Try not to take it to personal. It's just a score card. ;)

I'm a fan of Tony too. I sure would have liked to see those two teamed up a while longer especially with their success together. Whether or not you or anyone else would like to admit it, that was one strange deal last year.

Yes it was, and the hurt was plain to see on Dariens face at the dinner. I know Grubb took some time off for family issues. I would hate to think that was part of the reason, but I think Tony wanted Addington for a long time.
