Mayfield related.

Man who died in motorcycle crash was witness in NASCAR case

Eyewitness News learned the operator of a motorcycle who died in Caldwell County was a key witness in a prosecution case against former NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield.

If you're interested..... Link to story.
A lot of unanswered questions...They didn't say whether or not the law-abiding citizen on the bike and genuine witness for the prosecution was Jeremy's connection, nor did they say that Shana was the driver of the SUV...

I don't think that she was anything more than his girlfriend. He, (John Franklin), on the other hand. Well, here's a snippet from an article during Mayfield's arrest for the stolen property. You can click the test for the full article.

Four men – identified in a search warrant as John Franklin, Rusty Canipe, Damian (last name unknown) and Bruce (last name unknown) – accompanied Mayfield during late 2010 and early 2011 when they allegedly stole more than $100,000 worth of property.

Mistake or not. Tweet by Denny Hamlin after the conclusion of the Chicago race.....

@dennyhamlin This is 1 week of 10. We will win next week.

Setting himself up for disappointment or BOLD statement?

Personally, I think the guy is a headcase. I think that it a recipe for disaster should he fail to produce.

That's what he tweeted, and yes, he's a headcase. He goes from acting like a kicked puppy to superman. He's a great driver. Instead of being confident while understanding stuff happens to the best of them, he tries to push aside his inner Eeyore with crazy guarantees.

Ok, now that i've gotten out my inner Dr Phil.....

I've got him my yahoo pool but was leaning towards keeping him on the bench in favor of Johnson.

With that bold prediction if his, I may have to rethink my decision ;)

Greg Biffle said something interesting on race hub about the shifting rear end rule. He said the Penske cars were behind everyone on development, but it looked to him they got it worked out at Chicago.

I think all the rear end stuff is bigger than JJ is letting on. He passed Kez late at Michigan? and Indy with that car, but couldn't pass him last week while he had a 2 tire advantage. Very interesting...........

Both the #2 and #22 were very strong @ Chicago so I'd say they've caught up somewhere.

While everyone was focused on imagined cheating accusations, Kez got exactly what he wanted. NASCAR made Roger comfortable enough to use the feature during the chase.

Now, is this one of you assumptions?

Nope. It's based on Brad's comments about Penske not feeling comfortable using the feature for fear of fines. After NASCAR fixed the rules, Tim Cindrick commented that all Penske cars will now use the feature. It's even easier than 1 + 1 = 2. :D

BTW, the Penkse cars are 1 and 2 on the speed charts. It's early, but that's a nice start.

They might as well close up shop the way they keep screwing up the schedule.

They've been horrible for years. They used to show a lot of great racing like WOO and K&N. Now their programming is junk. I'm sure they'd keep the Nascar programming they have.

I am glad to see that Alex Bowman has landed a ride in the RAB Racing #99 Nationwide car this weekend in Kentucky. I think this kid could be the next rising star. But time will tell.

There's so much new talent coming up. It's fun to watch.

Yes, it is. And it is even more exciting when it is someone that you were around and watched them start at your local track and work their way up through the different classes. It seems like it was just yesterday that Alex was out here on the westcoast running on the dirt track at the Ventura Ca fairgrounds.:)

That has to be real cool. I hope you can be one of the first to buy one of his Cup hats.
