Went to Loudon this morning and dropped off the camper at the track, same lot every year, but this time I'm 2 rows from the main walkway. That translates into a 3 minute stagger to and from the track. Heading back up on Wednesday, and Mrs. Miler will arrive Friday morning. Should have IT out of my system by then. Ahem...

Sponsors returning to #17 team in 2013: UPDATE: Roush Fenway Racing confirmed that 2011 Nationwide Series champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr., will pilot its historic #17 Ford Fusion next season in the Sprint Cup Series. One of the emerging talents in NASCAR, Stenhouse steps into a championship-caliber program in the # 17, with current team partners Best Buy, Fifth Third Bank and Zest each returning to the team as primary sponsors in 2013. "I can't think of a better fit for Ricky than the #17 team," added Jack Roush. "Ricky will have the luxury of being flanked by a championship-level team from the start. His drive, determination and commitment to winning will mesh very well with the demeanor of the #17 team. It will be our job to put him in the best equipment possible, as well as to guide him through the learning curves that are part of his rookie season. Best Buy, Fifth Third Bank and Zest each joined Roush Fenway's #17 team as primary partners in 2012. These three partners will return to the #17 again next year, with each increasing their commitment in 2013 for Stenhouse's entry into Sprint Cup competition. With their involvement, the majority of Stenhouse's races for 2013 are fully sponsored

This is a very positive spin on what sounds like a partially funded ride .

Positive spin? Guys like Tony and Newman are losing sponsorship, and a rookie nails down sponsorship for a bunch of races with time to fill the rest. That's a genuine big deal.

Is Roger REALLY considering AJ for Indycar?

Penske on @AJAllmendinger: We haven’t committed to Briscoe yet & we haven’t made a decision w/the sponsors. So he still could be an option.”

http://www.jayski.com/cupnews.htm

Penske willing to rehire Allmendinger: Roger Penske would consider re-hiring AJ Allmendinger, the suspended NASCAR driver who was at the IndyCar season finale as his guest. Allmendinger failed a NASCAR drug test in July and was released by Penske Racing when his backup "B" sample also tested positive. He's currently participating in NASCAR's "Road to Recovery" program, and Penske said Saturday he felt the driver has been too reclusive during the process. "I told AJ I wanted him to come to a race; I think he had been kind of undercover for quite a bit of the time, and I thought it would be good for him to get out and see people here, talk to some of the team owners," Penske said before the IndyCar finale at Auto Club Speedway. Penske said once Allmendinger's suspension is resolved with NASCAR, he's a viable option for owners in both NASCAR and IndyCar. Allmendinger spent three seasons in Champ Car, and won five races in 2006 before moving to NASCAR. "I think hopefully we'll get some answer from NASCAR as quickly as possible because the Chase has started now, hopefully they'll give him a clean bill of health and he can move on," Penske said. "This is a speed bump in his career, but he's certainly an option for people on the NASCAR side and the Indy side. He did a great job when you think about what he did in Champ Car." Asked if he'd hire Allmendinger again, Penske said: "He could be an option for us, for sure."(Associated Press/ESPN)(9-16-2012)

News to me but maybe not to you. I just heard it said on NASCAR Radio that Kyle Busch is running the remaining Nationwide races to close out the season. Kurt is out of the car. Interesting.

This is most likely just Kyle saying @#$% it I am out of the chase so I might as well race and less about him firing Kurt. We'll see.

Sounds to me that he may be moving toward a blow up with the Gibbs people .I think that they insisted that he restrict his efforts to the Cup program this year to make a better run at the championship. Don't think that Kyle liked that idea one bit . Since the Gibbs management has been proved wrong ,Kyle probably wants to rub it in their face a little. I think this has a lot more to do with Gibbs than with Kurt.

Maybe Kurt struck a deal with a Chevrolet team??? The truck he drove a couple weeks ago was rebodied to a Silverado and Kyle has made a couple refrences to Kurt being in a Chevy the last couple weeks.

A story I saw on this.

Kyle Busch replaces brother

Kyle Busch has added one Nationwide Series race to his 2012 schedule and may add a few more after missing the Chase in NASCAR's premier series.

Busch was a late addition to Saturday's Nationwide race at Chicagoland Speedway. He replaced his brother, Kurt Busch, who was scheduled to run most of the final eight races in the Kyle Busch Motorsports No. 54.

Kyle's website lists him as the driver for the rest of the Nationwide schedule with the exception of next weekend at Kentucky.

"We're playing it by ear, seeing what Kurt wants to do, what [sponsor] Monster Energy wants to do,'' the 2009 Nationwide Series champion said of the remainder of the season.

Busch said "it sucks'' not being in the Chase. He hopes adding more Nationwide races will help his KBM program that has won only one race -- Kurt at Richmond in the spring -- this season.

Rest of the story here.

What's the word I'm looking for.......oh yeah, bingo.

Kyle neds some glory, so he's running off to the lower series to get a little. I also wouldn't be surprised if he tries to nab Ryan Blaney in the off season.

Ohhh BURN!

@kylebusch tweet from after yesterday's race

Since TV didn't interview me I'll come on here to say thx to my sponsors n my team for an awesome car n solid stops all day!

Do you in some way get kickbacks every time you type the word Brad?
He gets bonus points any time he can use the name Keselowski in a sentence.

Seriously though, if your driver is up there, you better take a little time to brag about it. For some of us fans those times are few and far between. On the outside chance that my diver would ever walk away with the big trophy you can damn well bet I'll be working Jr. into ever thread. ;)

What a fine season it has been. I just wish the Mustache could have made it a little longer.

Elliott Sadler and Brian Vickers will drive full-time for JGR in the Nationwide Series in 2013. No. 18 and No. 20

per Pete Pistone

I guess JGR's NW program will finally have some class. ;)

Good move by both, because Gibbs has the potential for a 4th car on the Cup side. I'm happy Vickers changed his mind about returning to the NW series, where he won the championship in the only full season he ran. That was before the whole 'cup light' thing started, so it will be fun to watch.

You know , if you look at going into a meeting with a Fortune 500 company ,looking for millions in sponsorship, and you have the following line up. ...Hamlin , Kyle , Matt in cup and Vickers ,Sadler in Nationwide ; I think that you stack up very well against Hendrick . The A level drivers that these two companies have ...against the A level drivers that the others have , IMO sets them apart. Very impressive . I'm also thinkin that if Kyle were to walk , Gibbs would be just fine.

Vickers will bring some interest and excitement to the NNS. Sadler will get to prove what he can do in some of the best NNS gear.

Do you really expect that much difference in him? He's in P2 right now only 9 back. That Dillon boy is sitting P3. That's not bad @ all.

Well either Logano is in better equipment or an incredibly talented driver. I choose the former.

Vickers and Sadlers people apparently told Nate Ryan that there is no done deal, but there are talks with JGR.

Mayfield related.

Man who died in motorcycle crash was witness in NASCAR case

Eyewitness News learned the operator of a motorcycle who died in Caldwell County was a key witness in a prosecution case against former NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield.

If you're interested..... Link to story.

Wow, That's really sad.

They could make a movie about this whole thing. What's next, Jeremy enrolls in the road to recover program and wins a championship?
