A short track somewhere
This thread seriously aged well. Much better than the "Does Jeff Gordon even care anymore" and "Has Kevin Harvick (at age 43) lost a step" threads.

I’m in bed trying to fall asleep but now dying laughing trying not to wake up my wife lmao. You forgot to mention Rick is a Felon. You have any ammo left in that chamber for Jeffy or Chadly??
I'll find some.

I'm torn on Ross

On one hand, I love the fact he's racing hard every single lap, at every track, and all he wants is to take the checkered flag. That's what racing is all about. Drive your ass off and go get a victory.

On the other hand, I find him to be a grade A d-bag, and very punchable lol.

At the end of the day, he's one of the reasons I tune into NASCAR... to either see what he does, who he wrecks, and to cheer against him.

NASCAR should love Ross for that reason.

Bringing up the FACT he won the championship, and that’s what he be remembered for, which has nothing to do with fighting, is me crying? Make that make sense for me.

The context of the post you replied that to said chase will be remembered for poking harvick in the chest, Ross will be remembered for a right hook on gragson. Y U mad 4?

I’m not mad, I just was pointing out Chase would be remembered for his Championship. If Ross is remembered for a right hook, then well I guess that means at the end of his career, he never won a Championship. So I think as a fan, I rather my driver have a clip, photo, whatever, of a championship, than some fight.

Ross is pretty decent, but I'd pump the brakes on the Earnhardt comparisons. Dale is an all-time great, Ross has two career wins. Dale made it happen on the racetrack & his competitors respected him. Chastain is just a clown who wrecks everybody.
I don't think they all respected him, but he pulled some B.S. too lol. They didn't call him the intimidator for the heck of it. I do compare Ross's rough driving to Earnhardt, who else out there can come close?

Perhaps their driving styles are similar, but that's where the similarities end imo. Ross will never sniff Earnhardt's achievements. I think his ceiling is Greg Biffle.

It'll be interesting going forward. Just listened to NASCAR radio on Sirius on way home. Justin Marks was doing his weekly call in and I wanted to see if Moody covered for him. He actually didn't, and what surprised me was all the "Trackhouse won't back down Ross is awesome WOOOOOOO" bravado from last year or so was definitely gone. Methinks Mr. H has Marks' b***s in a vice right now because he sure was "yes sir, no sir, today's been tough, we'll be talking to him..." No bravado or swagger at all. Marks even acknowledged that their speed comes from RCR and HMS's support and that they can't risk losing that. Dave asked if Mr. H threatened to put a kink in the hose of info coming his way, and he said they weren't there "yet." Reading between the lines, I think Mr. H and Chevy brass have begun to read the riot act to him.

Any Earnhardt fan who isn’t backing Ross needs to hand in their fan card. A hard racing blue collar kid that takes no prisoners? Sign me the **** up.

Ross has made me a fan.
Earnhardt, even though I couldn't stand him, truly was a blue collar guy who was desperately racing to avoid a lifetime as a lint head working in the Canon Mills. Chastain is from a family with a mega melon farm that is a multi-million dollar enterprise. Please spare me the working class hero crap. Just admit you like a guy who unapologetically plows through people. It's ok, no one will think less of you!

Not surprised, hopefully Fail Earnhardt can figure out how to race around other vehicles because he is a fun driver but when you can't get through a race without nonsense something has to give

But yet Ross had to race ****boxes in order to get a chance because Daddy didn’t have enough money to buy him a decent race car. Ross earned his way to Cup by grinding and taking any ride he could get.

I hate to tell you this, but it takes money to even start a racing career. It ain’t like the old days. They might not have spent money to get him a decent ride once he came to NASCAR, but his family definitely spent a good amount of money on his way up. I agree he earned his ride. But his and Earnhardt’s story isn’t nowhere near the same.

No one said that they were exactly the same, but they’re both hard drivers who had to grind it out to reach the top. Ross is a lot less fortunate than the silver spoon guys (including your guy) but he’s right out there with him.

Ross isn’t as talented as Dale but he’s definitely cut from the same cloth.

Guess Chase is too since the only resume item you need is to clean someone out going for the win. Ask Dillon in trucks or Logano!

All of these guys race their asses off every single lap and all of them obviously take it very serious otherwise I doubt they'd be strapping their lives into a race car more than 3/4 of the year. You can do all of that without doing what this guy does.

I really don't see how he's being made out to be this billy badass either. Have you seen his post incident interviews? He never flat out owns anything in a "don't **** with me" kind of way the way people are acting. It more often comes off like he's missing a few brain cells.

You was saying how they are both these blue collar kids, which is what I’m disagreeing with. Ross wasn’t some poor kid. I wasn’t disputing anything else. Which is why I said he earned his ride.

This guy really got raced one whole time how he races everyone else each week and then he whines on the radio, wrecks himself the very next restart, and now his most ardent supporter wants him to start reining himself in. Comedy. The next Dale Sr. my ass.

He’s not the next Dale but there are similarities in their styles. Ross needs to own his racing style and stop putting on the “aw shucks” act. Ross is an aggressive driver, who moves you if you get in his way. He needs to own that.

But needs to refine his style and learn how to be surgical and not emotional. Dale didn’t get emotional when someone moved him. He got even by picking his spot and making his move. Dale got in your head and made you fear that retaliation. Ross doesn’t have that level of patience.

I think of Ross as a Dollar General Dale. Not as good, a little rough, but it’s the same idea. He has the killer instinct but he lacks that extra layer of intelligence and patience that made Dale into the Intimidator.

I am rooting for him because I see the Dale in him. I followed his story and how he went from the ****house to the penthouse. The dude worked his ass off.

Chase isn’t the only one. Larson, Logano, Hamlin, Ky Busch have all crashed their fair share on the way to wins. I guess everyone’s Earnhardt.
