Route 66 our way

I just went to get you a link to Browns Country store and 100-foot buffet in Benson AR. But I am sad to say, after 47 years in business they have permanently closed.😢

Went to Graceland this morning.... Not for 9am as I was told by team members but 10.15 so we had to leave at 2pm because I had a long drive ahead of me plus we needed to restock food and beverage supplies.
Left Memphis just after 2pm and drove from Tennessee to Arkansas on I-40 darn near all the way to Sallisaw, Oklahoma KOA where I am now. Been a long day.
Really enjoyed the Graceland tour.
I'll post some pics later.

A few of us used to stop there when traveling from one track to the next one on the NHRA tour. They had plenty of parking for the haulers. I read today that they decided to retire and sold the property to some investors and they are going to open it up to sell Mexican food.

If you are on 40 going west, then you will go through Amarillo TX. So you might want to stop off at the Big Texan Steak Ranch to eat. They serve breakfast also. That is another place a lot of the drivers of race car haulers stop and stay in their hotel on the way to the west coast. Maybe you will want to do the 72oz challenge. :D

Lol out as. We are staying at the Big Texan RV Park for 2 nights.
We know about the 72 oz challenge but don't think we are up to it. 🤣

Clutch, how long are you stateside? If you'll be in the I-40 corridor area of Texas/Colorado at the end of September/start of October, you might be able to catch Rocky Mountain Race Week traffic.

We did Rocky Mountain Race Week on the OLD section of Route66 between Tulsa and Oklahoma City the last 2 years. You wont be able to take an RV on it due to weight zoned bridges, but you can stop near and walk or bike it from NEW Route66.

Just a warning: Many roads in Arkansas and Oklahoma are...lets just say that some are un-deserving of being called interstates or highways.

Be sure to stop and look at the big transformers in Stillwater Oklahoma, about 20 miles north of old 66 west of Tulsa.
BumbleBee is at 5104 W 6th Ave, Stillwater, Oklahoma
Optimus Prime is at 2201 E 6th Ave, Stillwater, Oklahoma

If you want to check out some of the Street Outlaws TV filming spotts,
302 Sertco Rd, Okemah, OK 74859
3306 Profits Avenue, Seminole, OK 74868
8600 S I-35 Service Rd, Oklahoma City, OK 73149
Business I-40 (Route 66) West of El Reno, just west of the prison
201 E0720 Rd, Guthrie, OK 73044 (About a mile south of this location)

You'll also be passing near Tulsa Raceway Park, 3101 N Garnett Rd, Tulsa, OK 74116
Funny your talk about the roads. Yes I noticed. Missouri and Arkansas aren't good... Nor Illinois.... But coming into St Louis city and driving through it I'll remember forever

Heading up through Muskogee to Tulsa today to rejoin Route 66
You are a few months early to go watch the Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa. If you enjoy midgets on dirt, you would have loved to attend that race.

Today in Oklahoma city we went to the Botanical gardens, then the National memorial for the bombing and the National Cowboy museum.
Pics to come.
We are in Elk City, OK for the night

Route 66 wise not a very good day. I was on old 66 from Fort Reno to the Cherokee trading post.... Maybe half an hour of the bumpiest narrowest road in your highway system. Scary. I pulled my wing mirror in so it didn't hit other vehicles mirrors.

It got a lot worse from here.... With a kerb too.

I had a large bowl of chili at the cowboy museum and it was good but had no beans. I had heard Texas chili was like this
