Showdown and All-Star race thread

Kurt's positive attitude seems manufactured, but it's good to see him have some success.

Good race...but it would have been even better if Kurt could have pulled it off. He handled his post race interview really well.

compared to ol sourface Kyle, Kurt did a great job with the press, didn't throw his crew under the bus. Driver that surprised me besides Johnson starting on the front row was Logano. They hardly called his number all night

How did Jimmie win? Nascar fracked up the avg. finish tally.. even with a great pit stop, he wouldn't have jumped 10 cars if he came in 11 like he should have. I'm not hating on JJ (even though I don't like him) but Nascar doesn't know simple math..

I thought the racing was pretty good tonight, except for the last segment. That ten lap shootout almost always ends up sounding more exciting than it actually ends up being. I thought Kasey would have put up more of a fight against JJ than he did, and then they all just got so strung out, single file. Yawn.

Despite the lackluster ending, I think this race was better overall than last year's, with the segment winners all dropping to the back like it was a restrictor plate race. I know they were doing what they felt they had to do, but it certainly wasn't fun to watch.

I was still confused, I thought the position average was starting position for the sprint. oh well.

He finished 15th, 5th, 3rd and 3rd...He lined up just where he was supposed to. Fox screwed up their math somehow.

You know what would have made this race more interesting is if instead of the average finish determining where they enter the pits, how about it determine where they start the last segment.

agree ! big $$ hms pit crew won this ! not tha driver !

Um yes they do. Fox got it wrong. Jimmie's finishes were 15,5,3,3 for an average of 6.5. That put him 4th.

that gave him an overall of 6.5 instead of the medias 13th..and then with the smoking pit he got the front row. yeah that makes better sense

after 4 segments.....they should line up accordin ta avrg finish a' 1st 4 .

screw last pit stop !

Here is a killer idea...how about we line up where ever the heck we are running just like any other race? Lol

I remember a few years back they let them work on their cars the last pit, i like that way, use the average to line them up, but give them about ten minutes to fix up the cars

Making everyone pit with 10 to go sucks. Just make them do at least 1 green flag pit somewhere in the night. If they have an option to pit before the last segment the top 4-6 would probably stay out and rest would get tires. Just think if good tires from back were driving up through the field with 10 to go it would be more interesting.

apparently Danica ran in the Preakness earlier today but, like the All-Star race, she spent most of her time wiping up the rear . . .

if they are going to have the tire mandatory pit< I think they need 20 or 25 laps for the million.

Didn't watch it, doesn't sound like I missed a whole helluva lot.
it wasn't a good nite for the yota's, kyle was a threat until the last couple of segments. Every body is pissed because Kurt bush almost won the thing, we were all pulling for him..well a bunch of us were anyway:)

I guess no matter how they tweak the rules, JJ will still come out on top. The dude's just that good.

Kurt definitely had a chance but he got screwed by his last pit stop, whereas the 48 had a blazing 11 second 4-tire change. Would've loved to have heard Kurt's radio after that one lol.

The audio might surface somewhere :) Congrats to your driver on the win.

I wonder if Johnson's win tonight will count towards The Chase.

It wont, unfortunately :( Hopefully his success tonight will transfer to the 600 next week. Maybe we'll see some more sub-12 second pit stops and less gas man dragging this year
