SILLY SEASON 2018

He has back to back wins three overall on the year and second in points overall. Sargeant is super talented. I do agree on Briscoe being more ready for X than Cindric, but Cindric has the connections lol

You're right has been a while since I looked he's been strong lately.

Terriult or whatever his name is has already been up in the trucks, Sargeant? good luck It's a bigger jump than people think I believe. So many flounder when they move up. I would snipe young Truex if I was Kez and could get away with it, he is over driving his ride. Doing a heck of a job with a tiny team.

There's an idea

I get what your saying and yea thats a great relationship to have but listen. In an interview guys talk about loyalty and past success but this is racing and you make it by being great week after week. Not because of something you did 5 years ago.
Go back and look at the history of Roger Penske and all his drivers. I can't think of a single driver he fired or let go just because he could get a better driver. Mind you some drivers were stupid enough to quit and two drivers forced him to put another driver in because the sponsor wouldn't put up with their doping in one case and the other was Kurt being ignorant.

Whether the 77 team runs next year is very much up in the air. Barney Visser has made that clear. Allenbaba told us that Visser and Toyota have no compelling strategic desire to operate the 77 team with Matt Kenseth, a driver in the twilight of his career. And Allenbaba has proven many times to have great insight into things involving Visser and Toyota, as well as numerous others in Nascar. So I believe him when he says that. It does surprise me, however, for one reason... I think Toyota will need a Cup car for Christopher Bell soon, perhaps by 2019. It seems inefficient and costly to start up the 77 this year, then shut it down for next year, and then start up again after one more year. That scenario just doesn't seem logical to me, FWIW.
From what I understand the 77 was a JGR car in every sense. However to not lose Jones,
Toyota supported the car to run under FRR and made it worth while for them.

I think Blaney should stay at WBR, they are a good fit for each other, his cars come from Penske anyways, I see no reason for him to switch.

I think that the "21" car becomes the "12" so to speak. I think that whole team would just move over to the 12.

I've never had a problem with race announcers until this year. There usually is one who is a bit annoying. Allen has always been so, Moody, Jackie Stewart, Bobby Unser, Scott Goodyear, whatever, there were a couple others to fade the heat in the booth, no big deal. But there is no relief in the NBC booth for me this year. Man I hope Jr at least gets one of them their walking papers in the future.

Hope not anytime soon, like watching him race.
He is SHR's headline driver so I hope he has long time still in him. Would rather him be the veteran of the team over Kurt or Clint, even though I like both.

Jayski either has a major scoop or they have stepped squarely in a cow patty. RCR released a statement confirming the departure of driver Menard and sponsor Menards, which concluded with this sentence...

"We will be announcing our plans for a third Cup team and our overall 2018 team lineup at a later date."

Most reporters are taking this to mean that it remains unknown whether RCR will shutter the 27 team, or sign a new driver (maybe Ty Dillon) and new sponsor to carry on with three teams. But Jayski published the exact same RCR statement under this headline...

"Childress plans three teams in 2018"

If Jayski's headline is right, it is a scoop, but I'm guessing it is sloppy headline writing by some editor there.

Rick Allen is the only good thing about NBC in my opinion. He has a natural voice for broadcasting and I'd like to see just him and Dale Jr. in the booth.

Harvick eventually replacing Waltrip at Fox is OK but I hope it's not anytime soon. David Regan is actually the best driver I've heard call a race this year and I think he'd be great for either.

I'm calling it now, Germain shuts down and RCR absorbs GEICO as it's "New" big sponsor to replace Menards with Ty in the 13 car.

Brian Wilson gets another shot at full time crew chief job. He was promoted into the CC job for the Discount Tire 22 last year, but the team stumbled badly, and he was replaced in late summer. #NeverGiveUp

That is a good possibility, Geico sponsored Mears forever, and despite Ty not being very good, he is doing better than Mears did.

I agree with you. Burton drives me nuts get rid of him first.

NBC still has better coverage of the race than FOX. From the ticker at the top to the helmet cam. It is such an improvement over fOX.

Highlights of Ford's Dave Pericak on SiriusXM...

It has been quite a week... Long-term deal with Brad K and Paul W; added a new car for Blaney; locked in stability and experience in the 21; and it's only Wednesday!

Impossible to overstate the importance of retaining BK in the Penske 2 and in the Ford family. There was never serious doubt on this outcome.

Blaney's deal has been the goal for a long time. The Wood Bros. interim step was a matter of identifying a win/win opportunity.

Confident that Menard can step up his results in Wood Bros. great equipment. His (Ford's) commitment to Wood Bros. is clear. Repeated the story of Henry Ford funding his company by winning a race in 1901.

Pleased with Chase Briscoe's progress, and will do more young driver development. He did decline to anoint Chase as the next Jimmie Johnson, thankfully.

Its his first season, I didn't expect much. Just I was expecting more than what he's giving, I'd say on average finish around the 15 to 20 positions.

I was expecting Pop Pop to give him everything and the kitchen sink.

I'm pretty sure he has a decent car in cup and also in Xfinity. He can't even run in the top 5 in Xfinity. He has one top 5 in 18 races, he's a top 10 driver in Xfinity. Average finish 12th.
He's running a lot of Xfinity races and he isn't setting the world on fire there either and he has a decent car. Came in 10th at Indianapolis, beat by two other teammates Menard and rookie Hemric

I'm sold on Hemric, if Newman does not resign. I'm putting him in the 31 car, he needs to win a race or two though before.

I think there are pros and cons to each. NBC seems to have better normal coverage, meaning they aren't zoomed in to 1 or 2 cars all the time or using only onboard cameras for 10 laps straight, but NBC misses a lot of on track action and never reports a lot of what goes on, i.e. the Bayne / Allmendinger fight. Fox seemed to do a better of job of at least talking about the bumping and back and forth between drivers while on track, as well as replaying most of those things. It seems like with NBC, that if the announcers don't catch the bumping, they just don't talk about it. I still don't know what happened at the end of the indy race to bring out the caution. I saw the 11 sideways but never saw how that happened. Maybe I just missed that one.

Also, NBC spends a lot of time on only certain cars, the 18, 78, 48, 42, 4, 22, 10, and that's about it. They completely ignore the other cars on the track unless they are actually leading the race. I had no idea the 5 was even close to the front of the pack until he was actually leading the race. Same with the 2 for that matter. How did those guys get there? I didn't see them in the top 10 all day and assumed they were way in the back.

And I think Fox has better announcers, I can't stand Rick Allen, and Jeff Burton and Steve Latarte are just BORING!!!! Not that ole DW is much better, but at least the guy is genuinely excited to watch the race. And the dicussion between him and Gordon doesn't annoy me.

Agree the helmet cam is a big hit for NBC. It was really cool seeing Kurt Busch's viewpoint trying to get through the wreck at indy.

I usually find Fox's coverage to be a little better but this year Fox was terrible. NBC is doing a much better job this year than they have in the past but they still have issues as mentioned above. Just my opinion of course.

Well it seems like Ty Dillon and Geico are going to move to RCR next year

I am still thinking Kenseth is going to drive the #5 next year, Byron needs one more season in Xfinity

Kahne replaces Danica in the #10, SHR seems to be very high on Kahne so it is the most logical fit.

Ryan Reed to the #16 or 99 for Roush next year and Christopher Bell does a Ryan Blaney and skips Xfinity and drives the #77
