I agree with you. Burton drives me nuts get rid of him first.
NBC still has better coverage of the race than FOX. From the ticker at the top to the helmet cam. It is such an improvement over fOX.
I think there are pros and cons to each. NBC seems to have better normal coverage, meaning they aren't zoomed in to 1 or 2 cars all the time or using only onboard cameras for 10 laps straight, but NBC misses a lot of on track action and never reports a lot of what goes on, i.e. the Bayne / Allmendinger fight. Fox seemed to do a better of job of at least talking about the bumping and back and forth between drivers while on track, as well as replaying most of those things. It seems like with NBC, that if the announcers don't catch the bumping, they just don't talk about it. I still don't know what happened at the end of the indy race to bring out the caution. I saw the 11 sideways but never saw how that happened. Maybe I just missed that one.
Also, NBC spends a lot of time on only certain cars, the 18, 78, 48, 42, 4, 22, 10, and that's about it. They completely ignore the other cars on the track unless they are actually leading the race. I had no idea the 5 was even close to the front of the pack until he was actually leading the race. Same with the 2 for that matter. How did those guys get there? I didn't see them in the top 10 all day and assumed they were way in the back.
And I think Fox has better announcers, I can't stand Rick Allen, and Jeff Burton and Steve Latarte are just BORING!!!! Not that ole DW is much better, but at least the guy is genuinely excited to watch the race. And the dicussion between him and Gordon doesn't annoy me.
Agree the helmet cam is a big hit for NBC. It was really cool seeing Kurt Busch's viewpoint trying to get through the wreck at indy.
I usually find Fox's coverage to be a little better but this year Fox was terrible. NBC is doing a much better job this year than they have in the past but they still have issues as mentioned above. Just my opinion of course.
