Silly Season 2020

Definitely puts the Wallace facebook post in a new light. And for the record, I still think Dodge is the second manufacturer that NASCAR is expecting. After all NASCAR execs mention Dodge by name when talking new rides showing up.
 
Dodge and Honda to nascar 2021...will be announced later this year! I Guarentee it! My mom's friends uncle was at the race this year and he heard a guy mumble something about Dodge and Honda on the scanner.....for real though it would cool for teams like Ganassi,RPM,Front Row etc for a new manufacturer.

Meh no one cares about that **** anymore....we are so far from "stock cars" it's irrelevant...trust me if a manufacturer wants to spend their money in NASCAR... NASCAR will make sure they spend it in NASCAR!

I would hope they wouldnt bolt. Maybe they wont. I do have a hard time envisioning them in NASCAR, they always seem to be in F1, Indy Car and various other series.

You don't but you need it for optimal power and torque. The kind that the top professional drivers in the world deserve to showcase their talents. Which is what every single one of these drivers complain that this engine lacks.

I can go to Dodge right now and purchase a car that puts out more power than a cup car does currently. To me, that's ridiculous. I don't care about showroom "stock" nonsense.

where are you gonna run it? The top drivers are showcasing their talent, thats why the same ones keep winning. You dont need 900 hp to prove something.

By best drivers you mean the best teams with best engineers and best crew chiefs? Yes, that's correct.

There's no reason this series shouldn't be running an 800hp motor. Screw the new OEMs. If you wanna play, pay. The current 3 were doing it.

Why do they need ti run 210 - 220 in a stock car? The faster they go the harder it is to pass. I dont wanna see that

I'm not talking about speed. Bring softer tires and get the cars off the ground. That would take care of speed and it would make getting back to the gas an actual challenge - like it should be at the peak level of auto racing. The cars need to feel like powerful machines when you mash the right pedal, not indoor go karts with rev limitors.

If you want more throttle response thats gonna require more HP, which will inturn effect tire wear. So am I hearing you right , you want to go back to ride heights and Wednesday penaltys and all mess? If we raise them up you really are gonna here about aero push until you throw up. Heres where I agree with you, we need about 50-75 more HP on top of the 550 and run it at every track, even Talladega and Daytona but have a little different rule package aero wise for those 2 tracks. I will tell you , things are in the works, NASCAR is not sitting still, they are working to the future.
 
seems like they have plenty of tire wear. About half of the cars at Charlotte had flat sides. I don't think some are paying much attention.
I don't know what the peak of auto racing is. This looks like stock car racing to me. I know I am not struggling to stay awake watching the 1.5's this year.:p Some have their ideas I guess that aren't going to jive with what is going on.

Hot red faced Chris Buescher had a ball at Charlotte.
“I need to rewatch the replay to understand what happened,” Buescher said. “I got ran into probably three times. Got ran into the fence at on point when we were four wide. And nobody lifted. Honestly, it’s kind of what we expected all of these races to be like this year. I think it got hot enough, slick enough we finally had one of those nights tonight. It made for some wild racing. Made it frustrating at times trying to get by on the bottom. You had options, you were able to move around. What a great time.”
 
Honda would make sense as they’re very racing driven. We even have our own touring car that races in IMSA’s junior series at the Ohio plants.

With that being said, Honda was originally a motorcycle company and still has a major love for that aspect so big engines have never been their thing

I could actually see the new Acura coming out next year by their car in this series by 2021. I think it’d be awesome, such a forward thinking and competitive company to work for, they’d definitely become competitive
 
I think if a manufacturer wants to join, they should commit to all four of the highest levels (Cup, Xfin, Trucks, K&N/Arca). Honda can't do that since they don't make a truck, nor a V8.

That's why I still believe Dodge and Nissan are the best fits, as far as potential manufacturers are concerned. At least on paper they are. But we know it's all about the $$$ so I'm sure the landscape will quickly change if Honda wants to throw their hat in the ring.

I think by the time Honda or anyone else gets in they will have the Ilmore option, we all know its the main thing holding off a few new brands (engine production costs) Ilmore pretty much was a test run in the truck series, surprise. I think thats they way its gonna go.

Very true. Also, since the Truck Series now has little to no involvement from any Cup teams (KBM essentially a development program for TRD being the only exception) it doesn't really matter if a new manufacturer joins the Trucks or not.

They dont have too but I hope with the reduced costs they will, I think NASCAR will push for it, not mandatory but try to sway them for the good of the sport.
 
Change the rocker covers to a Honda logo and you now have a Honda V8 engine.
Who cares if they sell them in the show room. General Motors does not sell new vehicles with HMS engines and Ford does not use Roush/Yates engines in the vehicles.
BTW there are V6 engines available that would make Nascar V8's look silly.
There are also electric cars that have more go power than anything Nascar runs.
Some of you need to quit Nascar and take up drag racing for entertainment where the real power is showcased.

I don't know that's the main thing. I don't think it is the main thing. And I strongly hope - and believe - spec engines for cup will not be an option anytime soon, if ever.

I guess if they are willing to bastardize a Supra to fit the template of an Xfinity car, they can try to morph a Ridgeline into a truck if they really want to
