Sprint Cup Race - Darlington

A few years ago I took my wife and daughter to the Darlington race on our way to Myrtle beach bike week. We hit the All Star race on the way home. That was the best vacation I have ever had.

I Love Darlinton :D

After first Cup Practice:
Drivers with Darlington stripes: #48-Johnson, #33-Leicht, #38-Gilliland, #56-Truex, Jr, #43-Almirola, #10-Patrick.

I thought it was funny when Miss Thang's spotter said, "Welcome to the club!" after she grazed the wall in her CUP car! Well Done, TJ!

That would be amazing. I need to make that work at some point.

That comment opens things up to sooooo many possible retorts...

In a rare display of restraint (and in honor of the late TFO) I will refrain from expressing any! lol

Wow! I bet that's the first time you've passed on the opportunity to misuse a pole. ;)

What happened to the Boo Birds saying Tony would have to BUY Danica a spot in the Cup race?

So Ruetimann had to use a provisional but Danica easily qualified on time in her first ever non-RP start.

Not bad on Danica's part, but lets not get carried away by top equiptment starting 38th.

I know Danica's car and CC come over from SHR, but what about the pit crew? Does SHR take their development guys away from Regan Smith? I wonder if all this Danica stuff affects them.

I hope you aren't expecting Danica to finish well tonight? Top 30 is about as high as one should set the standard tonight.

No. In a cup car at Darlington, finishing 2 laps down would be a good night. It's in NW, after 30+ races, where I feel she needs to start showing she can be fast.

I think she has speed but just hasn't figure out the best ways to pass people yet. It's like she's afraid she will mess up.

Did you see her post race interview? She's afraid to push it. He spotter kept telling her to drive the corners harder and exit closer to the wall, but she just couldn't get herself to do it. Caution won out. She said as much herself.

I know JRM, pops in particular, is a fanatic about not bending the car up. He keeps his drivers real tight and they have to fight for adjustments. That's how Kelly Bires ended up quitting / fired. He couldn't get the car loosened up. Eury Jr isn't like that, but Danica hasn't accepted that she will bend up cars from time to time. How else can she find that edge she needs to drive on to be fast?

Damn, I'm ready!
I've had a nice 2-1/2 lb Tri-tip marinating all day, wood chips for the smoker are soaking, favorite beverages are at the ready.
Let's go racing!

YUM!

I'm going simple. I'm gonna grill some turkey burgers, seasoned with soy sauce and Montreal Steak Seasoning, add some bacon and avocado with Ranch Style beans and chips in the side.

I made some killer guac today too!

Let's go rassin!

I bet Danica hates all those interviews. I'd be like leave me alone already.

As the 'saviour' of nascar, she's under huge pressure. She handles it well. She's even yammering about nothing less often lately. Maybe she's getting run down a little.

Doesn't matter how many times...everytime I hear the National Anthem and see those fighter planes fly overhead it makes all my fur stand up.

Is Michael Waltrip wearing a hairy bathing cap??
His hair sure looks weird lately.

At this pace Danica will get lapped about 8-9 times, but she's doing a good job moving out of the leaders way.
