Storage building

EDIT: Another time expired...

Actually can build half an X at old rear wall location. Run the upper part to rafters. Surely that will do something. Worst case put a wall of sorts in. With it covered with OSB/pegboard would add lateral stiffness.

Lord knows my lateral could use some stiffening.

Been struggling to cut straight lines on the siding. What a dumbass. Cutting from wrong side. Stuff is smooth as a rock pile on exterior. The cutouts in circular saw base no like that. Jumps and catches. Finally had an eclipse. Since couldn't access the smooth side, make the rough side smooth? Worked perfectly. Old corner trim for smoother surface with aluminum angle to guide.

Added couple small pieces of old roof OSB to a shelf. It made a difference. Guess just build about 18" wall on other side and cover it with OSB or plywood. Possibly just make shelves on that side too. That will definitely help the lateral strength.

Have to finalize the 2x6 "crane mount". Then hang the winch and see what happens. Realized can just run a 2x4 or better a 2x6 under lower chord, right against the top plate, to stabilize everything. Be a plate beside a plate just like lunch with the wife. Except she won't eat half of mine and take hers home. <I've never been married/they do that in the moovies>>

I'll add some diagonal braces at some point before I climb on the roof <right...like I'm gonna climb on the roof>

Spent most of the day actually working. Morning went really well. Did much better at doing one thing, then another thing, then another thang, then another thong...wait? What was I talking about? I'm horrible at scattering stuff everywhere because there isn't a where it should be, kinda. Mainly today if had something in my hand, felt was done with it, took it SOMEWHERE I thought it belonged. Not in the ever increasing pile. Started using plastic containers for old nails, spare screws, etc, etc, BAZINGA!

Hopefully wake up Saturday with money in the bank. If not, guess go job hunting. Local salvage yard has cleaned the place out, everything is gone, and is re-establishing/reformatting itself. Maybe they could use some old slow help? I'd be quite reasonable. Less than 5 minutes from home. Don't wanna do it but eating has become a habit.

What a day. This arsehole is a slave driver. Of course soon as got the gable rafter mostly in place the winch died. So to Hazzard Fright we'll go tomorrow. Appears the remote quit working. I could manufacture something but it's not very far so go trade it in. May just wait till Saturday and see if they suggest an upgrade. Will be actually using it lifting the OSB and shingles. Maybe ran a minute today. Lots of 5-10 second bursts setting the rafter. Maybe 20 minutes to get it 80% of the way then 4 hours doing last 20%. But it's up there. Did reveal the rafters beside it is fubar. Not sure how but it's inch short? Oh wait? I cut one too short? I'll sister boards to end. It'll be fine.

Did do the crane/2x6 deal. Turned into too much of an engineering project. Just hooked winch to it and drug it up thar! Little fussy getting it past the plate overhangs but finally got it. It's held in place by 4 six inch screws and couple clamps. It's fine. Really need to fix the one next to it first or second or who's on third?

Not sure how didn't type it but the second one back is an inch short. Remember when I cut off 7 inches instead of 6? Swear thought I fixed that but obviously didn't. Will be fairly easy fix.

Now time for B&G @ Hardee.

Hmmm? I did have that in the other post. Flat-rate reading allowed me to skip over it.
