Storage building

Turns out was 6.5 mile trip. That didn't happen. Was supposed to go look at an S10 that's being parted out. Like to have a functional rear diff for mine as it's been howling at the moon for 270K miles. Full of lube. Dealer had it apart under warranty, didn't get the set-up just right. I mean...still going after 270K so not THAT far off, just enough to have a coast whine. It's 3:08 gear, great for Kansas, would like to find a 3.42. Make towing trailer less traumatic for the trans.

I begged out on the dude. Need to pick-up nail guns from pawn shop & get truck inspected & registered. If spend 100 bucks on that rear end be tight by end of month. $100 for it less than 10 miles away is cheap. But nope. I'll wait.
 
Steering wheel on my S10 has cover degraded from sun and oil from skin. Has a 5 inch chunk missing at the top. One just popped up on Marketplace 15 miles away. They getting rare as all of them do it. Once replaced i'll buy a steering wheel cover and a dash/windshield reflector sun shade thingie. About 10 bucks.
 
Bought steering wheel for my truck. Only issue is they cut the horn wiring off. The little red wires that run into the white junction. Have to find a small enough wire stripper and some really small heat shrink to splice my wiring to it. Need to see if have any electrical solder too. Have the wheel on just can't finish it. Drivable tho.

Ordered solder. Since the wires are ground wires could just solder them to where others are attached to the wheel. It has plenty of slack. Hmmm? Issue will be getting it hot enough to stick since wheel will be a huge heatsink.
 
Couldn't wait. So...hackery. Worst case the horn sticks on. This wheel is the leather bound version. Feels great!🥰 Should have purchased the dash cover 25 years ago. Dash is completely ruined from the sun.

Just dawned on me, I'm an idiot. Could have swapped the "horn bars" over by removing two Torx bolts on each side. Jebus Christmas dude. If go to LKQ and find a vehicle with airbag off, I'll get them with the wiring attached. Put it back like it should be.

While I saw the bolts didn't even consider removing them. Figured they had good Loctite and quite possibly would ruin the threads coming out. I didn't really think too much about it. If had it to do over would have tried it on the old one. Whoops. I'll take the old one apart tomorrow too see how it goes.
 
Looking up it's skirt. Guy said the blade height adjuster was stiff. He's correct. Think it OD'd on blue pills. Or the arbor needs lubrication at the pivot point. Squirted liberally with couple versions of PB Blaster and it works. Meh. 75% better. Tempted to drill very small home in the casting so could get lube in it as nearly impossible to access. Can't leave it slimey with PB as will attract dust. She won't like dust in her mechanism. Need some white grease or spray wax?

Moved the Craftsman to the porch so could make some room. Good chance will sell the Craftsmen and keep this one. It has remote belt drive motor which is generally considered better. Wired for 220V. Can swap to 120/115/110 or whatever you want to call it. Stirred other stuff around and stacked the non-rolling benches.

Need to do something with those two cabinets. Really need to do something with the fried motor DeWalt saw that's taking up nearly 6 foot of space in the corner.

Ordered some Double D 40 special lube. Could have just driven maybe 6 mile round trip to get it but...nah. Amazon needs the work. Let me check and see if the order that was scheduled for yesterday is still scheduled for today.


Ahhhh! Says it's in the mailbox. Probably be there next time I go past. That's 100 yards away! Too far for me.
 
Woke up middle of the night and:



Guess lifted something around 25-30lbs yesterday annnnd, see above. Along with the broke back, fried pork chop & eggs last evening and apparently didn't get the chopper done enough. While trying to get my broken back realigned by wiggling around, lying on one side then the other twisted like a drill bit. etc, etc,realized something else was happening. Too the golden throne we go. Came out both ends. Not terribly violent out the pie hole with 3 or 4 heaves and we done.

^^^the body cavity evacuation thing has happened 3 times in last month. Not sure what's going on. Poor dish washing, too much paprika or what?

Sitting in recliner very gingerly trying to stretch the lower back so no longer an invalid.

Went out to the shed and checked the new/old saws blade height adjuster after it soaked in PB Blaster overnight. At least 75% improvement in cranking torque of dial. The arbor pivot pin for this function is a light press fit thru the casting, so while it can move easily enough, no slack. Would need to fully disassemble the mechanism to drill holes to allow lube in, drill and tap for a grease gun, or to press the shaft out and clean/polish the affected surfaces. While having a way to lube it seems like a no-brainer they don't do that in fear of it collecting dust. I suppose could drill & tap so could connect grease gun hose and run them thru the side of the box. Give it a squirt once every six months or so. I mean, the design makes it so it's nearly impossible to get grease or even a fluid to the pivot.
 
Walked to mailbox. Found that about 100' from my trailer 5G kicks in! In my trailer get one bar of 4G. Phone stuff be weird.

Haven't eaten anything yet. Really not hungry. Hmmmm? Maybe some quickie mashed tators?

Stirred some stuff around, put the stand back on the newest/old saw that I lubricated everystuff, finally cleaned out a couple large totes, put them in the loft. Pulled 7092 nails out the 2x4's from the pallet and put them up in the loftish area. Put stand on the $20 saw bought hoping to use the motor in the OG Delta that turned into a fireworks display. No bueano. So it's all back together. It's a cheap plastic jobsite saw. Never cut anything with it yet. Maybe should put blade on and try it. Found the box of 4" casters bought last month...in plain sight...under the bench on it's shelf. Need to flip that bench over and trim probably 2 inches off legs. It's 36 1/2" tall. Little taller than optimal for my 5'8" compact build. Really need to finalize the table saw i'm keeping & build all the benches same height. Appears will be the Delta 34-444 just got. Need to tap into the 220 for that saw.
 
Flipped it over. Used chain hoist. Blade adjuster works perfectly fine now. Little liberation did it good. Wait? Lubrication. Need to remove all the lumber from lofts and add a few diagonal braces to roof so don't pull it down on my head. Then put the boards along/next to the walls. Orange wire is the 220 circuit. Think will get a metal box for the 220 outlet so can better ground it. Had a video explaining this but it doesn't show up for some reason. Whatever.

30% is on a dump truck. Rest will be gone by this evening. I took the water line shut-off valve which was broken off to the shed, gently hacksawed thru the plastic pipe to save the fittings and put it back together so park owner could turn water back on for that end of the park. Temporary fix. They hoping to buy a new trailer to put back in. State/County bureaucracy. Only thing that was painless was the insurance. Had pay-out 5 days after making claim. But the fire was just month ago, so?
 
Downgraded Internet Plan from One Gig to 500mbps. Was getting 750-800 with One Gig so not much difference. Cut bill by 50 bucks. That was the point. It had kept creeping up and was $130 month for Internet only. Supposedly around 85 now.

More weirdness. Downgraded Internet from One Gig to 500mbps. About 40 bucks cheaper. Checked at solid 500+. Next door neighbors quit couple days later. His router died. While outside talking to him and the Spectrum guy mentioned I'd downgraded. Would you look at it? Just look at it!😂 It's back to the One Gig speed. No idea what happened.

Stopped at Eye Doc on way by to check price/availability of lined bifocals. Want cheap. The Zenni suck. Turns out, as It says on SS website, you get FREE basic lens after Cattlerack strategery. No free additions but you CAN pay for them. Eye doc never mentioned that at all. Cheapest progressive lens 500ish dollhairs, good ones, 800+ dollhairs.

Different salesperson this visit prints off several page description of my coverage NOT at my request. Says multiple times FREE! FREE! FREEE!!!! Cost 90 dollhairs to add anti-glare, which you kinda need after cattlerack strategery, to drive at night especially if raining. Done deal.

Will have completely new fully assembled and finely tuned glasses in about 2 weeks. Hopefully then can throw all the Zenni crap away.

Not at all impressed with the new glasses. Not nearly enough "bifocal" correction. Think will attempt to schedule an appointment with Raleigh Ophthalmology to see when we can fix my left eye. It's getting really bad.

 
One of our neighbors recently had a double wide manufactured home placed on a small lot within our community. It was quite a spectacle to watch and while there were a lot of senior citizens overseeing the project it was fruitless as their assistance was not required. Fortunately, the people directly involved knew what they were doing and had the two sections placed side by side with no damage to surrounding areas, structures or landscaping.
When finished with preliminaries, both sections were no more than six inches apart. The following morning another crew came in and sealed them together, anchored them in numerous locations with strapping to the ground and hooked sewer and electrical plus installed a/c/heat unit. Within days the carport, porch and other exterior appendages were completed, the underside enclosed and all left was interior electrical inspection.

While those in attendance were more than willing to assist with direction to the crew, they managed to get it done and done correctly. One more unit is scheduled to arrive and this time there will be a plethora of help to direct the operation as it is "in season" and all the snow birds are here, each one filled with a vast warehouse of knowledge of things they know nothing about and are more than willing to offer as direction.

Soon as they got it 3/4 the way in I left for Hardee's. Don't think they finished all the piers today. Will see tomorrow. They aren't expecting to get in the trailer before next week. 16x76 I think.
 
Guess did get all the piers set last night. Was raining pretty hard this morning so no further progress. Think mover is supposed to essentially finish the install. Plumbing, electrical, underpinning, etc. Owner will have steps/porches built themselves to save some money. Hispanic family. They can always get stuff done. If they haven't been deported. I like the height. Makes working underneath much easier. Most seem to be mabe 18 inches off ground. Kinda tight for a fat guy.
