The 2018 Winter Olympics

Holy ****. The wind up on the mountains is insane. Are they ever going to get Alpine in??

Took a lot of nerve to complete the run like Shaun did. Kudos to him for winning the gold.

Amazing! He wanted to win the last qual run yesterday so he could be the last one to run in the finals.I've never seen an athlete who steps up more under pressure than Shawn White. Epic stuff!

Russian hockey team stunned by the Slovakia team just now. Awesome. The favorite taken down a notch.

double elimination i assume? or something like that?

in other words, i assume they aren't out?...(damnit)

And that last run proved it. Definitely from a different planet than the rest of the competitors.
That was awesome again last night.

We've got a local sports radio host here that also has a national show on the weekends, CBS Radio. He's been trashing the Olympics since early last week, well before they started. I don't get it. The Olympics is a great event IMO. I've been able to meet and watch a few past competitors that are in track and field compete over the years. Those people dedicated their lives to be able to represent the USA. It's an awesome accomplishment to make the team and even more so to bring home a medal.

Here's a name to remember..... Jordan Geist. I'd look for him to represent the USA in Shot Put as early as 2020. He is just nineteen years old. A freshman at the University of Arizona. Was the #1 High School Shot Put contenders in the country last season. Only the 4th in the history of the sport to throw over 70ft in both High School and the NCAA. He currently sits 4th in the world with a throw that he made a couple weeks ago in Washington State. By world, I mean everyone in the world. He also sits almost 5ft ahead of the #2 in NCAA. Inches in shot put are huge, feet are phenomenal. We've been able to follow much of his throwing career as we attended many of the meets that he competed in. Nobody works harder than this kid. Nobody but all those other that are representing us or on the path to do so. What these athletes are able to accomplish, not many of us are able to appreciate to its fullest. Hearing/reading people degrade the Olympics or the individual sports is a defining moment as to the idiocy and lack of knowledge of the person making that kind of comment. These athletes are something to be proud of especially knowing the work that is put into these short weeks we are watching.

I don't always watch curling, but when I do, I prefer Women's Team Curling, :D

I don't understand a word that this Swedish Women's Team is shouting but I like it.

Last night watching half pipe was fun. The Japanese dude and Shaun White trading amazing runs, with USA coming out on top. But I wonder how that one guy is that wiped out so hard.

Watching this replay of the USA Slovenia hockey game Jesus this is terrible NHL needs to stop ****** around and let them play next Olympics

Finally some Alpine skiing.:D Go Shiffrin!

I think Lara Gut is racing as well:wub: even though she's a Super G and Downhill specialists.

Watching the skiing with wife when Bode Miller blamed the skiers marriage on her decline.I'm thinking, did he actually say what I heard.I feel sorry for him as I'm sure he will catch it on social media.

He's already catching **** for it. He was trying to be funny but obviously it didn't come off that way. Bode was an incredible ski racer, however he sucks at commentary IMO.

The last few Olympics the buzz around this event was awesome. I literally haven' heard ANYONE talk about the mens hockey so far. Not at work, not on the street, no restaurants/bars advertising "come here to watch the game". No one cares where I live.......and I live in Canada. 4 years ago bars in my town opened at 7am for "breakfast and beer" for the Canada games

I love curling. The strategies and everything are just fascinating. That said, the CNBC in-studio guy is such a nerd.

Women's Super G tonight.:D

Pulling for Vonn, but I'd like to see Lara Gut or Tina Weirather win as well.

Holy ****!!! Ester Ledecka ended up winning the Super G. She's been fast and in the top 15-20 most of the year, but no one saw this coming.I love women's Alpine Skiing speed events. Big thumbs down to the morons at NBC who decided to quit showing the Super G before all the women had finished so they could show friggin figure skating.

Super-G: snowboarder Ledecka wins shock gold on borrowed skis with Vonn sixth

  • Czech athlete had never finished on podium in an alpine event
  • NBC already announced Anna Veith as winner before Ledecka’s run
Ester Ledecka, the world champion snowboarder from the Czech Republic, delivered one of the biggest upsets in Winter Olympics history on Friday afternoon, coming out of nowhere to win the women’s super-G by the slimmest of margins as Lindsey Vonn failed to deliver an expected medal in her opening race of the Pyeongchang Games.

Ledecka, the parallel giant slalom world champion in snowboarding who is the first ever athlete to compete in both skiing and snowboarding at the Olympics, finished with a winning time of 1min 21.12sec to pip Austria’s Anna Veith by one-hundredth of a second. Tina Weirather of Liechtenstein, who finished 0.11sec off the pace, won the bronze.

Veith, the defending Olympic champion in the super-G, was in gold position after the top 20 racers had completed their runs a successful defence of her Sochi title all but assured – indeed, NBC had already named her as winner before Ledecka’s run and later had to apologize.
