How many cars can and do race on dirt, road races, short tracks, mile and a half's, super speedways and a coliseum?
I was literally asking a question. I’m all for an ice racing exhibition NASCAR Thunder style

Too gimmicky?..
So was I, seems you are having a problem with a transmission.I was literally asking a question. I’m all for an ice racing exhibition NASCAR Thunder style

I thought they did pretty well this year. I don't think they are going to completely re-design the car for only one race though. They didn't years ago.I wasn’t disagreeing with you I think the Cup Series should be on dirt, I’m not sure the dirt package is the best.
There was ice racing in NASCAR Thunder?? I played the hell out of those games growing up and never saw that. Sounds fun as hell.I was literally asking a question. I’m all for an ice racing exhibition NASCAR Thunder style

You could literally give free tickets away to everyone for the Bristol spring race.... concrete, dirt, asphalt, ice, fill it with water and run boats... whatever.... you still would not fill the place. The Summer night race at Bristol is still THE ticket in NASCAR. Has been for 50 years, still is today. The track can't support 2 races if you're looking at attendance.
Yeah, and I really don't get it.
Yeah, and I really don't get it. Bristol is one of the most popular tracks in NASCAR. You'd think they could have THREE races a year there and have good turnouts for all of them.
What if both races were run at night? Move the spring race to May, and keep the other date in August. I would be curious to see how it works out.
I think the night race became too popular/hyped (and frankly, deservingly so) and any other event you attend at Bristol is a "watered-down" version.
And as others have said, the track is pretty remote, not enough hotels, etc.
I always stayed in Asheville. It's about 75 minutes down I-26, a bit twisty around the state line. The hotel rates were reasonable and plenty of decent places to eat.THANK YOU! Honestly people don’t understand, you can’t “casually” attend Bristol. It’s pretty remote in East TN, far from any big cities with almost no lodging. Awesome place but you absolutely have to camp

What if? They are both run at night this year.
The problem is that they essentially took a date from Bristol for this race. That's how people see it anyway.I dont know of the how and why Bristol was covered with dirt, at this point I dont care either. The racing was good on Sunday, I admit that. If it takes the dirt to keep two dates, then fine. I think it'd be a huge mistake to take a date from Bristol, it'd be really demoralizing for me personally as a fan if that happened.
When did they take out the back stretch stands? Wasn't that after 08?According to what Richard Childress said in his interview, the Talladega crowd was the largest since 08 when Jr. won.

I have no idea, I don't pay attention to that stuff. That was what Childress said. I posted it in the Busch to RCR threadWhen did they take out the back stretch stands? Wasn't that after 08?
The track has a capacity of 80,000 in the grandstands not counting the infield camping. No way. There are empty seats in that photo in the upper section and they’ve taken out the backstretch and some of the frontstretch since then.

Several times in recent years the TV announcers said a race was a sellout when a lot of empty seats were visible in the grandstands. No way. There are empty seats in that photo in the upper section and they’ve taken out the backstretch and some of the frontstretch since then.
Of course you haven't listened to the interview I posted in the Busch to RCR thread. Richard said he was told that.In 2008 it was at or just below it's max capacity of 140k or so.
Richard talking through his ass, imo
And several times others have said the event can be sold out and some don't show up after they bought tickets. There isn't a law that says you have to attend or else last time I lookedSeveral times in recent years the TV announcers said a race was a sellout when a lot of empty seats were visible in the grandstands.
It all comes down to what they define as a sell out. Most people would think that means no more tickets are available. Some venues consider it as low as 80% of available tickets sold.Several times in recent years the TV announcers said a race was a sellout when a lot of empty seats were visible in the grandstands.
A return to the oval probably gets a bump in attendance year 1. You might have 100k show up. However, I fear that if the race sucks the place will go back to being empty.More than 60k each day might change the calculus a bit w/r/t going back to the oval or not. Saturday was up +25% from last year. Of course, it’s not the only factor at play.
Did they give the raw numbers? Going from 2 sellouts to 3 is a 50% increase.Just announced at the the "State of Nascar Address":
Sellouts up 50% over 2022.
No. Its one of those take it for what its worth.Did they give the raw numbers? Going from 2 sellouts to 3 is a 50% increase.

I noticed a lot of elbow room in some of those announced sellouts.
The direction is better than what it was a few years ago. Brian F.
almost augered this sanction a mile deep imo.
