The new upcoming NASCAR game is very promising

Folks, we're getting a masterpiece.

I hope you are right. I am going to lurk a while and see how it goes.

If it is great I will buy a console, plus a sim rig and go for it. I dont want to spend much more than a thousand bucks so I would probably build the frame myself to leave some money for a seat, wheel and brakes.

I just want to be sure before committing.

NASCAR 25 is being developed by the folks at iRacing. From the footage I've seen, looks like they nailed it.

Maybe we can start a Racing-Forums league or something.

It is probably fine. I want to learn more about what it can do and learn some of the questions for dummies stuff. I was hoping it would have a modified series or more short track stuff.

I also am not in a supper hurry. I am probably thinkimg a Christmas time or early 2026 time frame

I'm 50/50 on buying this game. It looks good, but I have high blood pressure, and racing games raise it just as much or more than fighting games do, purely from excitement/fun. If my BP came back down quickly after playing them, it wouldn't be an issue, but it usually takes a while, and usually too long IMO.

I've watched a few YouTube videos of various streamers' gameplay footage and will likely buy the game at some point. It indeed looks promising, but I'm like Greg and am in no rush. I'll wait for reviews and for the masses to get their hands on it, just to make sure there are no massive deal-breaking issues.

Worst case, I'll just play it like I play Street Fighter 6 and other high-octane games these days - in strict moderation.

Having now watched a bunch of YouTubers' gameplay videos, barring any major unforeseen issues between now and the early access release date, October 11th, I'm probably gonna preorder this game.

The most important thing to me with a racing game is the actual driving/racing. While I obviously haven't played this one yet, the most consistent positive thing I've heard so far from people who have actually played it is that they really, really like the driving physics. I've also heard that the AI cars are not brick walls that are completely unaware of the player's presence like in Ignition. I'm sold based off of those two things alone.

The only cons I've heard so far are regarding IMO small bells and whistles that are missing. There are supposedly no burnouts or caution replays, and you can't adjust the car mid-race.

So, apparently there's been a slight change - NASCAR 25 will be out in early access by Thursday night at midnight - so, a day earlier than expected.

I watched this full discussion with NASCAR 25 producer Matt Lewis. I'm legitimately excited to play this in a few days.

I watched a few YouTubers' videos that dropped yesterday, pre-ordered the game last night, and will start playing it after work today. Everyone I've seen on YouTube seems pretty happy with the game. Even the one YouTuber who I've seen trashing it pretty hard this whole time came out yesterday and said that Ty Majeski's gameplay video won him over, and he pre-ordered it. :lol2:

GOWEN, a NASCAR gaming YouTuber, was playing it last night and I believe had Matt Lewis in his chat. PSA: if you find the pack pulling away from you like crazy on race starts/restarts, reset your control(ler) settings in the game to the default settings.

If I'm wrong, please correct me, or I'll correct myself when I get home, but I believe there's a setting somewhere in there with the word "shot" in it - slingshot? I can't remember. GOWEN had lowered that setting to zero, which is why the AI were all Prime Kyle Busch on restarts.

Anyone who's even remotely interested in a NASCAR video game that isn't a full sim like iRacing should buy NASCAR 25. Don't even hesitate. Just buy it. I haven't even finished my first race yet as Blaney at Gateway, and I already love it.

I'm getting it in a few days for the PS5, hopefully the Gold Edition.

I've been playing on PS5, mainly in the Cup Series, with Expert level assists, the AI difficulty set to 97, and the control settings on whatever the default Normal settings are. The AI is still just blistering me on restarts like with a couple of the YouTubers I've watched. It's like the restarts in the recent World of Outlaws games on steroids. They completely check out, and then I start running them back down after half a lap or so.

Not sure if it's just a skill issue or an actual issue with the game, but assuming that it's a skill issue, if anyone has any tips or workarounds, I'm all ears. It's my only gripe with the game so far. They've apparently dropped a PS5 patch already, but the restarts weren't mentioned. I'll see what happens today.

I'm gonna play around with the settings some more and try out the lower series more today. I like the stability of the Trucks - I got Toni Breidinger a win at Phoenix last night after saying that I was just gonna check the Trucks out real quick before bed. It's been way too long since we console gamers had a good, playable, and fun NASCAR game. We've finally got one again. ^_^

...and just that quickly, I think I've found something on the restarts. It was mostly a skill/knowledge issue. I don't think the patch affected it.

I was under the impression that since you can't just fully mash the gas coming off of pit road with cold tires, you can't mash it on starts/restarts. Every track may be different, but at least at Kansas, you can just hold the gas pedal down fully on starts/restarts.

The AI is still a bit OP on starts/restarts, but as long as I try to stay in front of my line and pinch the opposite line a bit, I don't lose 5 or 6 spots like I was before. I actually have a fighting chance. I can live with that.
