The phenomenon of title contenders winning the final race.

So you think all things are black and white? No room for subjectivity? Interesting. Also, do you think they tech the entire car each week? Do you think they always tech it the same? Or do you think they mix it up so that teams are unsure of what's being looked at when they show up to track. I know the answer because I've walked cars through tech many times, so I'm curious what your answer is?
There are certain areas of the car that get teched every week and NASCAR doesnt give you a heads up on what they will look for at ANY given time and what do you mean "black and white", what areas? Tolerances are given and so are thousands in dollars and fines and suspensions. I've walked a car throught tech a thousand times, not watched it.

Agree to disagree with what I've bolded, respectfully.

But have you walked a final four car through at Homwstead as that is what is at issue.

No conspiracy...team orders rule in my opinion. We had JGR, SHR and Penske in the final four. If you rule out the teammates and alliance drivers who does that leave to run up front? Larson tried, but didn't make it for Ganassi, RCR is rarely a factor, neither is Roush. In fact the 6 finishing in 6th supports my theory. Hendrick...not a good year for them either. That simply leaves the final four to duke it out because everyone else is forbidden to race hard at Miami.

Well I'll respectfully disagree, NASCAR may issue bulletins on rule changes but doesnt not give you a complete guide step by step on what they will NOT be checking. Sorry but thats just the way it is.

Every since the new playoff format debuted in 2013, I've been intrigued by the fact that all of the sudden all of the title races have been won by final four drivers, and nearly ALL of the final four drivers have been well inside of the top ten late in the race. That trend certainly runs counter to the history of NASCAR, at least since the Latford points system was adapted in 1975. From 1975 to 2012 (38 years) a driver with a mathematical chance to claim the title has only won the final race of the year nine times (1981, 1988, 1989, 1992, 1993, 1995, 2005, 2008, 2011) and ONLY in 2011 did the race winner actually win the title (Tony Stewart). I'm about as far from a conspiracy guy as you can get, but does ANYBODY want to figure the odds of the final four guys finishing 1-4 on Sunday? It just seems REALLY odd to me that since 2012, drivers that are championship contenders suddenly run VASTLY better in the final race than in the four decades past. In fact, before 2013, it was quite common for drivers that were not even in the top five in points to win the season finale, sometimes not even in the top ten. Greg Biffle did it TWICE from outside the top ten. Jerry Nadeau got his ONLY Cup win in the finale of 2000. Morgan Sheppard, Bill Elliott's first win, the list goes on and on. I know that the need to outperform the other three in this format makes it crucial to run better in the final race, but does THAT ALONE explain what we are seeing? If it were this easy to just turn it on, why not EVERY week?
Now go back and get us the stats on the champion having to win the last race to be champion.
Another stat I would like to see is how often we have had 3 drivers win most of the races.
When you get all that, narrow it down to "how many wins have been controlled by
3 teams."
I believe this is the first of a kind, but I am not surprised that 3 cars dominated an entire season.

That is pretty close IMO. Teammates are going to let them go. Rival teams aren't going to get in the way of the other, they don't want the heat from the fanbase (sportsmanship) nor will the other drivers. So the race does play out differently, but that doesn't stop the racing behind them. Almirola ran hard all day, so did Larson, and Elliott and Kez, they were all fighting for final positions, but their spotters were telling them when the leaders were coming I bet.

I need to say again cause this is ridiculous but seriously, if NASCAR was really fixed there is no way they wouldn't have fixed it that Danica would have won several races and championships and Dale Jr would have won several championships and never had a long streak of not winning any races.

The problem with conspiracies is that if more than one person knows about it, the conspiracy will become public at some point in time.

I have a friend that is a top level in the state quality control inspector. They call him in to mediate inspection problems. He said if you ever let anybody get by, they have you in their pocket from then on. I find it almost impossible to believe Nascar's inspectors don't know the same information and even more unbelievable for inspectors to show the teams how to circumvent the rules.

They dont, show me proof they do.
these guys are given special treatment for the last race, Nascar looks the other way.

No because they want drama for the last race between the final 4, try harder next time.
Why would you ask that question, you know what the answer is right? You think NASCAR is knowingly allowing cars to cheat? Are you familiar with the tech process and how many people see that car? Even in stations that inspectors arent assigned they are trained to look for ANYTHING someone else might have missed?
Yes they are allowing them to cheat in the grey area for the final race.

don't feed the troll as they say.
Wonder if the trolls ever considererd IF NASCAR allowed the final 4 to fudge the rules that everyone on the team or that had an affiliation would know what to do too? smh

For the last 5 years just about every final 4 contender has been faster than the rest of the field, by a lot. If they aren't cheated up cars then it's a really odd coincidence.

uh duh, that is why they are in the final four ya think?

Jeff Gordon has told stories about how he would be beating the field so bad that he was told to dial it back a bit for the entertainment factor.

dial it back to save his equipment. ;) and keep prying eyes from looking it over too hard. They could do a lot way back then

The 42 was 3 to 4 tenths faster then all of them

Next year can all speculate what size plates/spacers the final four are running at Homestead.

It's gonna be fun.
