Ty Dillon has a new fan

There's a reason Austin is a champion in one and soon to be two series, and Ty is not. Austin is smart and knows how to keep himself composed. Meanwhile, I need two hands to count how many times Ty has gotten into a pissing match with Johnny Sauter alone this season.

Kevin did say "punk ass" but it was to reporters on his way out. It wasn't during the TV interview. Not every interview or comment is captured on video and audio.
In today's age if it's not recorded it didn't happen

LOL.. Harvick says he's sorry :( Boo hoo I got yelled at! :XXROFL:

You honestly think Harvick cares what Richard thinks? Richard could yell at Harvick until he is blue in the face. After 4 more races Harvick is gone.

Kevin more than likely apologized so he wouldn't further alienate his crew and himself moving forward while trying to win the championship this year.

I see your point and agree but I don't think that damage he did yesterday can be fixed.

“I don’t care what they throw at me,” Harvick told the Sporting News as he left the track Saturday. “That’s exactly the reason I’m leaving RCR is because you’ve got those punk-ass kids coming up.”

Childress was furious at Harvick, at one point cutting off a question on him by saying “(expletive) him” before gaining his composure and saying he was disappointed and would say what he wanted to Harvick’s face.

Kyle isnt a fighter or a bully, He is a racer and he races hard
Harvick is a bully and everyone knows it. Harv puts the bumper to anyone he wants and he did it all day yesterday. Glad to see him get it back

Lol. OK. If thats how you try to justify it, so be it.

Go 18! Time for some short track racin'!

You can drop the term bully here. These are grown men. However Kyle is a bigger jerk/a$$hole on and off the track than Harvick is. Stop drinking your drivers piss, you know it is true.

Nope I got to stick with the bully term. As for my choice of beverages I prefer Monster energy.

This is BS. Harvick apoligized? For what? Where is Ty's apology?

I wouldn't have. I would much like to get fired before I uttered a single word of resentment.

I always knew Austin Dillon was a douche but thought Ty was a decent kid. After seeing him go crying to his grandpa yesterday I guess they are both spoiled losers. Glad Harvick is leaving RCR, what a joke of a team.

What reason did Ty Dillon have to be in front of a camera this morning?

Credit to Harvick for apologizing. It read as fairly sincere to me. It's funny that his acolytes can't stand the idea and want him to keep going with the tough guy act (and it is an act). He wasn't apologizing for the incident itself, or even for ramming the #3 under caution (which Dillon did plenty of himself). He apologized for what he said after, and for throwing the only organization he's ever driven for under the bus.

I don't think his apology was sincere where he felt bad, sorry, or even respect for Richard. I think he apologized for his team.

Harvick spoke the truth Saturday on how he really felt. I don't think he feels any different today. I can't wait until he is in non RCR equipment to show us how he really feels about Richard.

Lots of bad blood here I think. Harvick knew he would be fired the second Austin and Ty said they were ready to move up. He just fled for the very first exit.

fired? probably not. put on the back burner? yes. However, Harvick is really RCR's only cash cow. I am sure Menard brings in some cash from his Daddy, but how much more than what it costs to field a car for his son? It will be interesting to see if Richard can properly fund his grand kids in Cup. If the Cheerios rumors are true with Austin next year then that is a start, but is that a full season, half season, 2 race deal for Austin?

I think when it is all said and done Richard will find out that he needed Kevin more than Kevin needed him.

yep, Harvick blew it. Should not have said that, RCR gave him a top ride.

Harvick's given him two Nationwide championships, a Daytona 500, a Brickyard 400, a World 600, an All Star Select victory, 22 Cup Series wins on every type of track in NASCAR and contended for a handful of championships. Only driver who's driven at Childress that's produced better results was Dale Earnhardt. Harvick stepped in to Earnhardt's car after his death and produced right out of the gate in spite of the pressure of mind blowing expectations. He carried Richard Childress Racing on his back and is probably the only reason that team survived in the aftermath of Dale Earnhardt's death. Who else was going to deliver results for Richard Childress Racing in the days, months and years after Dale Earnhardt's death? Mike Skinner? Jeff Green? Robby Gordon? :XXROFL:

Yep. I'd venture to say that Kevin Harvick's success in the 2001 season is probably the only reason Richard Childress Racing survived after Dale Earnhardt's death. Can you imagine what would've happened if that team had gone winless for two full seasons after Big E's death?

most of the posters didn't see the truck race anyway, all they saw was a short clip of the incident. Harvick followed Ty on and off for almost the whole race, and just like he said, Harvick had many opportunities to turn Ty throughout the race but he stayed off him. The first chance Ty had to turn him, that is what he did. It was a cheap rookie move, Ty needs to learn how to move a guy on a short track without wrecking him.

How you feel deep down and what you say on national television are two different things. There are times I, and I assume we all, don't tell my boss, clients, or even friends exactly how I feel. He was apologizing for how inappropriate his comments were, and I think he's enough of an adult professional at 37 years old to realize that after he cools down. That was the way in which I meant that it was sincere. I think there's still a distant, begrudging 'respect' on both sides between Harvick and Childress.

When Childress is on Ty's radio saying "All take, no give" and " If he messes with you, turn his ass upside down", I think there was something deeper going on than just Ty being impatient.

like I said Ty needs to learn how to turn someone without wrecking him. I heard the radio transmission, but like anything else around here, it is twisted. Didn't hear the messes with you part and turn his ass upside down? Sorry calling B.S. on that one.

Dillon bros.
Menard
Scott
Gaughan

RCR = Rich Child Racing

The only one in that organization next year who won't be pay-for-play is Newman. It's obvious with Harvick bringing Bud and Jimmy John's over to SHR that the sponsors were dedicated to him, not RCR. They could be in trouble in a few years.

Yeah, I have to say, Harvick is one of my least favorite drivers in the field, but I think he's just about always been better than his equipment at RCR. That doesn't make his actions or comments after the wreck on Saturday any more acceptable.

I can't say I've found a clip, but it has been widely reported by Dustin Long, MRN, and the NASCAR press.

I watched the race and I heard the live transmission did you? Be a good idea when you drag a quote from me to make sure you have your story right and not be embellishing what you think was said unless you have proof, instead of hearsay. Just because you don't like Harvick is no reason to make stuff up, Harvick has never needed any help. Can't wait for he and Kurt to get with Tony. It's real simple Gmone, you don't give them respect, you pay the price, He gave Ty respect the whole race, and Ty chickenspitted him. You don't agree with that, jus fine with me.

Wow, I was honest about my opinions on the matter, and didn't "make stuff up". I watched the race live on FS1, which had some in-car audio but not a lot. I trust that Dustin Long has been around the garage long enough not to tweet outright lies with quotation marks around them. I don't get what has your knickers in such a bunch over that particular quote from a reputable source that nobody else has disputed.

The gopher likes to start pissfests with people over petty stuff. Welcome to Racing-Forums, you've now become a regular.

Thanks for the welcome. I can handle a good pissing match, but prefer it when there's an actual reason to be lashing out at each other.

No doubt That Harvick has given everything you stated. Those are not and were not my intent. I think Kevin should not have said that after the race, even he said he should not have. My reasoning was Childress regardless of their state now or later did give Kevin his big break in a top ride. Does Kevin owe RC, you bet!! Does RC owe Kevin now You bet!!!

So I agree Andy, with all that you posted !

yeah welcome, we don't agree on everything, all in good fun. But a hearsay can't find it tweet from a newbe Nascar reporter and pulling my quote into it is plenty of reason. In case you haven't figured it out yet, I like Harvick, you don't. I didn't see a thing wrong with what he did, should have done what he did to Kyle and had him running for his crew and Paw Paw to protect him, just like Kyle did.

2014 will be such fun !!! Harvick wont make it thru the season without some major fallout brought on by this fued with the Dillons. He will find a way to screw himself out of a championship run and with any luck lose a few teeth too. Somebody is gonna get him :)

Yeah you have been watching that with the 18 for years, getting beat by the 29 this year, and the last 4 years straight should be your sign.

Seasons not over yet .............. my money is on Kyle

It would be all in good fun if we were just trading barbs over who we like and who we don't. That's fine. I didn't respond to your initial post to impugn it. I was trying to start a conversation about there being other influences (Pop Pop) driving Ty Dillon's behavior. Somehow your like of Kevin Harvick (all well and good) caused you to go on a mini-rampage defending Richard Childress against charges that he said something against Kevin Harvick.

For posterity's sake and to establish who is just making stuff up and hurling blind, ignorant accusations, here is the original tweet: https://twitter.com/dustinlong/status/394180814348353536. Dustin Long has been covering NASCAR week in and week out since at least 1999, not a newb. If you paid attention, you'd know that. Here is Jim Utter reporting the same quote in his story: https://twitter.com/dustinlong/status/394180814348353536. Dave Moody also: http://motorsports-soapbox.blogspot...eserved-better.html?showComment=1382975264905. Roger Holtsclaw: http://www.speedwaymedia.com/?p=70385. Now that you're tasked with calling all of them liars and conspirators in this zany plot, I look forward to your upcoming thoughts on how the moon landing was fake because you weren't there, Paul really was dead, etc.

At least there is an ignore feature here, always comes in handy.

And this is why cup drivers should stay in there series and not drop down. Championship points mean very much to some of these smaller teams .

Haven't had time to catch up on all of the posts in this thread but all I can say is that it's not smart to burn bridges in NASCAR. Harvick's done that.
