Vacation stories/pictures thread

I saw a couple of Manatees swimming and people were making a huge deal about seeing them. The pics I got were not great but the video was OK. I came across quite a few dolphins that I believe were feeding.

Some pics of when I was on the province of Ontario a few weeks ago. I was standing on Canadian soil and took a picture of this building near Youngstown NY and the second pic is of the international bridge at Lewiston NY

A friend up there is building this weird off roader out of parts he has lying around. Yamaha motorcycle motor chain driven to that rear wheel.
Crazy.

Took a little weekend trip to North Carolina over the weekend. Was going to go to the race tonight, but then I found out Kyle was having a fan club get together at KBM on Friday, so I decided to do that and tour some shops instead. We went to KBM, DEI, then to Lancaster BBQ for some lunch before heading to JGR, SHR, then the Dale Earnhardt memorial statue.

Kybu looks like a little kid up next to you. :D

I was driving down a back road and stopped in my tracks when I saw this 1947 General Motors Greyhound "Silver Side" Bus. It was in use in the state of New York and went to Texas when it retired and sat and sat. Some people in my area purchased it and are painstakingly turning it into a an RV with a period correct interior and as few exterior modifications as possible.

Rangitoto Island yesterday. This Island sits right in the middle of our harbour. It was only created 800 years ago by a volcanic eruption which must have just kindof oozed out as it looks the same from any angle. You catch a ferry over and hike to the top for a great view of the city.

I liked the way the clouds and sky looked in these pictures I took as it was eerie for about 100 miles.

Visited the U.S.S. Cairo --- a Civil War ironclad that was raised from Yazoo River in 1964 --- 102 years after it sank. Absolutely fascinating. Learned that one of the men that found it was my tour guide back in the early 80s when I did a tour of the Eastern battlefields. After he found the Cairo, he became the chief historian for the National Park Service.

Got to Arlington for ceremony. Honor guard, flags(U.S. and Navy), band, caisson, Naval officer(with sword on horseback)-- all in Navy whites. I joined my brother and other family members walking behind the caisson to the site. The Navy hymn, 21 gun salute, and the folding of the flag --- all very moving.
The weather was bright and sunny, but not a breath of a breeze and humidity thick enough to cut with a knife.
