I believe he’s doing a dual program between IMSA and WEC. I think there’ll be one date conflict between IMSA LMP2 and the WEC calendars. Cadillac’s WEC lineups should be announced in the next week or two.Hard to believe Bourdais couldn't have done better:
Bourdais to partner Farano in Tower Motorsports LMP2
Sebastien Bourdais is set to join Tower Motorsports for the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Bourdais will partner 2022 LMP2 champion John Farano for the full season in the No. 8 ORECA…racer.com
Catching up on this one - it is definitely not too surprising given the series requirement for Hypercar teams to run two full season cars starting next year. That’s too big of a commitment for Lamborghini right now, especially given how much they need to tend to the development of the car. The Paul Ricard testing crash fundamentally altered the development curve of the car and it’s overweight in its current form. They would be well-served to spend a year developing the car before re-homologating it. There’s also a chance we see them add a second car to IMSA in lieu of the WEC program.
Bit of a shame the IMSA program won’t start up until 2027 but good to see Pipo’s new home announced, and that car looks pretty magnificent as well.
