Safety car will be ending with a little over 2 hours to go with the vast majority of the Hypercar class still on the lead lap. Should be an interesting finish.
Bahrain is a good track but the complete lack of atmosphere at these Middle Eastern events that bookend the season really sucks. Hopefully the series and teams find a way to pull together the funding for a ninth race at Silverstone in 2026, because a quarter of the calendar being taken up by Qatar and Bahrain is one of the few blemishes the championship currently has.
Lots of action in the only 2.5 hours I got to see. Seb Buemi in the #8 vaults Toyota to the Manufacturer championship by a mere six points over Porsche by way of a final hour pass for the race win over Matt Campbell in the #5. Penske Porsche’s #6 crew still take the Driver title despite finishing out of the points after the Toyota #7 retired from a fuel pump problem.
Seven different manufacturers finished in the top seven in the race today in Hypercar. LMGT3 saw its best action all season. Fitting way to end a very entertaining WEC season, and the field only gets bigger next year.
