Who will drive for Furniture Row next season?

I think there is more upside to Speed or Wise. I think they have a better chance of surprising the field once they get into good equipment.

I like David, but I think everyone already knows what kind of season he'd have in the #78. Would it really be any different than, at best, the #27 and, at worst, the #31? Good, but not great.

Maybe Blaney (in a couple seasons), or Wise and Speed, etc wouldn't do much better either - but I think there's a much better chance of catching lightning in a bottle than with Ragan.

if barney wants lightning......he better go long play w/ young blaney. another larson w/ his cool demeaner.
plus....free driver coach------dave.

all assumin he can get outa kez/etc contract ?

I think Blaney would be the way to go , given the list mentioned . As far as putting Larson in the car in for Montoya , I'd do it asap. If anyone thinks starting a rookie in a chase race is hard , think about starting him in the Daytona 500.

Good point, the kid gets caught up in the big one and before you know it the season is over after week one. Some guys can climb their way out of a big hole but I highly doubt a rookie could.

On another note, doesn't Ragan drive the same stuff as Wise? It just seems to me that Ragan has showed more and performed much better driving for the same team. If it was me, I'd go with Blaney or Ragan.

One race, even Daytona, doesn't make a season. Five of the Chase contenders finished 30th or worse @ Daytona. It probably would have been six had Tony Stewart not been hurt.

I think Larson will be fine either way.

I like Blaney going to the 78 more and more. it's a bit of a jump but if they can lock him up and he does well, he'd have a prime job waiting for him after.

This is true, but these are all Chase drivers and seasoned veterans not rookies trying to make their way in the sport. I think it would be foolish to have Larson debut at the 500. At the very least I'd try and get him in a race on each type of track in the Chase this year. Maybe Talladega, Phoenix and Homestead.

I can almost make a bold prediction on that one...ain't nobody out there that will do as well that will drive the 78. Not because I am a hysterical Kurt lover, I look around and don't see a driver who can out drive him that is loose and would go there..
Kurt has been blowing smoke about how good they are all year IMO. Yeah they are better, but when he is gone, I believe they drop to a top twenty team.
x2

The team owner needs to come up with a plan...If it's long term then go get a young gun...If it's short term go get a seasoned vet with a chip on his shoulder, that wants to prove a point...(Todd Bodine comes to mind).....NO sence in ruining the career of a young gun if the team is not in it long term.......

Truex would be at the top of my list if he is available. You'd have to think he is now that NAPA is bolting.

Truex was already on my list . He may not br a Kurt Busch , but he's better than Montoya and a whole lot easier to deal with.He would do really well there .Still , I think in two years time Blaney might be better.

Just a thought James Buescher has anybody talked about the possibility of him? Would be a perfect fit in my opinion. By the way, hey all I'm new here obviously.

Yeah they have. Welcome BTW. Most of the posts have been about Ryan Blaney, but Beuscher was mentioned. He drives like a pro IMO, don't see him making many stupid mistakes. I think he could drive well in any series.

Thank you! Yeah I have seen the Blaney posts, who I am huge fan of and being a Ford fan am really hoping Penske locks him up long term.

welcome fr. get ya ford verbal armour on....pretty tuff chevy crowd here. ha!

I don't know who is going to replace Kurt, but they are going to have to bring their A game if the want to measure up to what Kurt has done with that team this year.

He's going to be even quicker in SHR machinery imo, a lot quicker.

I agree and disagree at the same time....FRR has RCR resources which is weaker then Hendrick but the FRR team and guys only have to focus on one car which makes them stronger. I do think that Kurt will do good in the SHR car, but may not be that much better(atleast in 2014) considering the team would only naturally feel growing pains.

I don't see how Kurt will be alot quicker seeing how he's regularly in the top five. speed is not an issue at FRR. Manpower and pit crew are their issues. I think Kurt will do good at SHR but they'll have growing pains because adding a fourth team is too soon for that organization.

Can't give all the credit to his pit, speeding on pit row isn't helping anything either, you got to minimize mistakes you can control. he blew it last week, got lucky and drove it up there, but I think it was at sonoma he had two speeding penalties in one race, killed himself. I don't think you can have anymore of those, on top of his pit crews mistakes.

I'm not but for the most part, Kurt has overcome his own mistakes and the teams. You only can control what you can and if the team wants to keep moving forward, everyone has to get better. Esp when they wont have a driver like Kurt.

But again, speed has not been an issue. Thats one i'msure of.

I'd say no team has consistently had more speed than the 78. Every week Kurt's at the top of the charts even more so than Jimmie, Kenseth and others. Like you said they've hurt themselves elsewhere but the speed they've shown has been nothing short of remarkable.

Mikey has said Truex can leave if he wants. That opens up the possibility of him going to the #78.

Truex is going to be pissed when he finds that Mikey will be driving the 78, next year. Furniture Row is Team Redemption, and Mikey needs all the seat time he can get.

Hmm...honestly I think all the clear choice free agents have already been taken this season, belive it or not. That said there are still a few out of the box choices. People have mentioned Ryan Blaney and he could do good. Though he may need one more year of NW/Trucks. Another choice could be a driver from a small team, like Front Row Motorsports. A few drivers stick out to me in terms of that -- David Ragan, Landon Cassil, and Travis Kvapil. Ragan has the most proven sucsess, but Cassil has the most future, and Kvapil has the most experience. So it depends what they are going for. Of course this all changes if Truex is let go...

Bobby L wants to race next year....give him a one year contract

Give Bobby L a one year contract while they take time to figure for the future.

Jeff Burton

Jeb Burton

Those aren't the Burton that I want to hear in a post race interview . . .

I think they'll go young. FRR doesnt have to worry about pleasing sponsors whenthey are the sponsor
