Who will drive for Furniture Row next season?

The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning toward Brian Scott. He's an RCR driver, he's shown over the season that he's a really good driver (had a rough patch in the middle of the season though), he's contending for wins, and he's making his Cup debut at Charlotte.

It's a better option than Jeff Burton or Bobby Labonte. They won't do the Regan Smith thing again. A truck driver isn't ready. Hornish will likely be back in the 12 car next year in NW, since Penske's stated that Blaney's doing trucks again next season. Sadler is an awful option.

The only better current option is perhaps David Ragan.

So today's news pretty much assures us that Truex takes over this ride next year.
But I think NAPA and truex will hang together, because they're already a marketing couplet. Denver Mattress wants to be the only name on the car. I don't see it happening.

I hope i'm wrong, but i just don't see Napa in Nascar next year. Nascar just doesn't seem to have the large amount of good quality tv coverage that it used to have, and what they do have is spread out over so many different channels that you need a secretary to keep up with them from day to day. My neighbor is about 70 years old and he loves watching Race Hub, but he is so tired of it coming on in different time slots that he has stopped watching it.

I was in Lake Havasu Az this past weekend for the Lucas Oil drag boat races and I will be in Bakersfield Ca this weekend for the Hot Rod Reunion, and then I will be in Las Vegas the following weekend for the Nhra National event and then I fly to Chicago and drive back out to Pomona Ca for the Nhra World Finals, and then drive back to Chicago and fly back home to Orange Ca just in time to watch the last Nascar race of the season. I have a laptop with a Verizon air card so I can communicate from just about anywhere.;)

I caught a little of the boat races on TV. Saw the flats mostly. Oh, OK your in and out...and around..and up in the air. Got it ..I think:)

I love it when v-drive flatbottom boats come up in conversation on this forum. :)

As far as Truex, can't see him doing anything that Kurt hasn't in this car next year...

Except maybe win :p

I don't think Truex can give Furniture Row the results that Kurt did.

Depends on what FRR is running under the hood. They still havent decided on a manufacturer

yeah they did, they announced they are sticking with Chevrolet and it's staying with the Alliance with RCR

Sounds like Truex Jr to FRR is a done deal, per Jayski. Maybe Allenbaba can confirm?

I like it, I think Truex is an underrated driver. He has only recently become relevant again because the MWR cars finally became competitive. He was driving some junk cars for a few years. I think he's got a lot of solid years still ahead of him including some more wins.

I'd love to see Truex go to FRR and kick some MWR ass next year.

While the smart thing to do would be wait until Allenbaba issues an opinion , I will throw out thre names that might be interested . Ambrose , Almirola and Truex .

Wow , you have to go all the way back to page 2 to find this prediction. Didn't get much traction.

Me too, specifically I'd like to see him turn Mikey at the 500 next year or whatever race he's planning on running. I've always rooted for Truex, and I hope he can take another step with the 78 team and get them some wins. How cool would that be?

Heh, I'd love to see Truex take it to Mikey in Bristol. If he's going to get some revenge on his soon to be former MWR teammates, the best place to do it would be at Bristol, there he can make it look like a "racing deal".

Huh , did I miss something ? Is there something that he needs to get 'revenge' for with his teammates ? The article also says that he tried very hard to find a way to remain at MWR but they couldn't put it together .

Haha no, I just think it'd be cool to see him rattle Mikey's cage. Not that I'm advocating intentional wrecks or anything, but I'm assuming Mikey will be running a few races and if anyone deserved to get "tapped" it's him. Truex would surely triple his fan base in one swift move.

Well if MWR hadn't tried to manipulate the Richmond Race, Truex probably would've gotten into The Chase. It's because of Vickers and Bowyer as well as the MWR team that Truex not only got trounced out of The Chase by NASCAR but also lost his sponsor NAPA.

LOL. Y'all are silly. You know Truex would never do anything like that even if it was justified. He's about as clean of a racer as they come.

Anyway, I just read the report on Jayski and assuming that the news is true, I'm happy for him. He's not gonna set the world on fire but he's usually fairly consistent. No, I don't think he'll do better at FRR than Kurt has done, but then again, who would?

Truex to the #78 and NAPA sitting out '14 to have time to find the right fit for a team in '15.

He is an East Coaster and if he indeed goes to the 78 I'll be buying a 78 hat for next years' season.

Truex deal isn't "done" done...still dotting I's and crossing T's...but it was "done" enough to give the story to Lee.

Can it still fall apart? I doubt it will, but when you consider what a wild ride this has been so far, it wouldn't surprise me. Kurt will likely resign a multi-year deal...then boom, SHR offer comes literally out of nowhere. Ok, Newman was always the backup...boom, Chevy tells RCR to bring him in, literally out of nowhere. Ok...I guess we go with a rookie or JPM...ok, decision made for JPM...oh wait, boom, Penske ride, literally out of nowhere. Ok, rookie it is...now to figure out which one...boom, NAPA pulls out. Truex available, out of nowhere. And here we are.

One thing's for sure: in life, and especially in sports...nothing's ever certain.

I don't think you guys ended up too bad, all things considered.

Tell Martin we say hi. :)

For sure. No one was going to replace Kurt...it would have always been a step down...so I agree, this is a better step down than I had imagined when Kurt's SHR offer first came in. I like Martin a lot, too.

I don't think Martin will bonzai four wide into turn one on the bottom and pray he's going to get to turn two . He's not that kind of driver . But he'll get the 78 in the chase next year and I'm not at all sure how many Stewart Haas make it .
