WNBA

In case no one has noticed, the NY liberty also finished the season with the best Conference winning percentage of >800 (32 W - 8 L.
They were a great team for sure. Best team all regular season, minus for a brief lull at the end when the top seed was effectively sewn up already.

Still extremely disappointing how they won it.

Just saw this salty video of The Call since I can't seem to find an official video of it, which is bizarre. If this was 15-20 years ago, I would probably have sounded exactly like this guy with the conspiracy insinuation. :XXROFL:

Looked like Stewie traveled to me, but man, these particular shooting/blocking foul calls are the definition of insanity and create debates/ambiguity by nature. The announcers always tell me what the rules are supposed to be, that the defender has to have their feet set with their arms straight up, and the offensive player can't initiate contact.

That's all well and good, but I've seen similar looking incidents get called both ways or not called at all. Just seems like it frequently comes down to a judgment call on the refs' part, like there's no clear line that is ever crossed and consistently gets enforced across the board. It's just however they feel like calling it at that moment. I hate that this foul call seems to be the main thing that folks are talking about, but with games and a series that were this close, it was pretty much inevitable.

Honestly, it's whatever. I ain't mad.

WOW, is White going to leave the Sun and join either the Fever or Sky as coach? She is considered one of the top coaches in the WNBA.

Caitlin Clark’s Fever, Angel Reese’s Sky Finalists for Coveted WNBA Head Coach

Yes, Coach White is definitely one of the best. I love her, obviously. She has a prior connection with both Chicago and Indiana. I think that given her defensive style, she's a better natural fit for Chicago, but that organization is just such a dumpster fire right now.

She may very well end up staying in Connecticut. To my knowledge, DeWanna Bonner is going to play again next season, which surely means that A.T. isn't going anywhere. That's their main two key pieces right there. I'll say this, though...if Coach White goes to Indiana, there's a good chance that I'll be following them next season.

Mike and Eric Thibault, the father and son Mystics' GM and coach, are both out. Okay then. Eric's a good coach, so that's a little surprising.

So, yeah, I have no idea who I'll be following next season. Definitely gonna have to see what these rosters are looking like by then.

An old, but good, story about my girl Lexie.

Then again, it was a surprise to hear her name called that early. On Monday afternoon, Hull was awaiting the draft in Palo Alto, California, with her parents, Lacie and most of her Stanford teammates. Expecting a longer wait, Hull and her guests got a pleasant surprise.

“We heard Stanford guard, and everyone started screaming,” Hull said. “My jaw dropped. I was in shock. It was the best moment ever.”

I sure am glad the Fever drafted her, and even more glad she worked her way into the starting rotation and balled out.

Wow, I thought she would at least make it one more season.
The 10 mile view looks like a rough way to award a coach for a turn around season.
Up close, there may of been other issues. Oh well, good luck Coach Sides.

When you get a new general manager, a coaching change is imminent.

I'll betcha that White goes to Indiana. Everything is shaping up for things to go that direction. There will also be some pretty good free agents that will now be looking to join Indiana when/if White signs with them.
That's what I'm expecting and hoping for at this point, too.

I don't know what the typical turnover rate is for W coaches, but it feels like there have been a lot of coaches fired/released so far. Latricia Trammell is gone from Dallas, and I just heard that Tanisha Wright is done with Atlanta. Both teams were ravaged by the injury bug all season long. Atlanta bounced back and made the playoffs, and they drew the eventual champions in the first round. SMH.

It appears to me that Bluder may be a one year replacement and that the Fever will pursue White for the long term or maybe I am interpreting the article wrong. Natasha Howard is a good addition.

I read this earlier and it's gotta be written by AI.

The headline is extremely misleading clickbait that fooled me, too. I read it as if Bluder and Howard had signed with Indiana. Definitely not. It's merely speculation/wishful thinking on the writer's part.

Seven coaching changes and counting I think. Connecticut made it official:

A little bit spicy from Sides. She isn’t technically wrong, but they also added Boston and Clark in the time she’s been there.

If there is anything to commend her for, it’s that she allowed Hull to work herself into the starting lineup and gradually phased out Wallace, NLS, and KLS. Dantas became a decent contributor off of the bench in the second half as well. Hopefully she lands on her feet somewhere.

If Lexie brings you closer to the entrance of the Church of Caitlin, go for it.

Take a second to think carefully about The Balance, which we have both worked so hard for years to achieve and maintain, and what you're asking for. The fact that we both like Taylor Swift is dangerous enough. If I joined The Church, with you in it, we'd likely be looking at an extinction-level event.

This article seems genuine. I see where my girl Jenny Boucek is also a candidate for the Fever job.

Interesting stuff regarding Coach White's decision to leave Connecticut, from an ESPN piece:

"We parted on good terms because some of [White's] decision-making process was not just about basketball," Connecticut Sun president Jen Rizzotti told ESPN, adding she assumes White will speak on her decision at a later time.

...

White did not confirm what may be next for her, but did say it was a "professional and personal decision" to leave the Sun and thanked Connecticut for what the organization did for her.

"It's not an easy decision to leave Connecticut, but I think the best one for my family and my career," White told ESPN. "It's meant a lot to me -- I'm so grateful to Jen and the organization. It's a top-notch organization. For me to be able to return to coaching -- which I didn't know if it would be possible -- with such a great team and coaching staff, it's meant a lot to me.

"So this has not been easy. But certainly, at the end of the day, it's tough for me being away from my family. So from a professional standpoint and a personal standpoint, I feel like it's the best decision."

I've heard reports here and there that she's been dealing with a family emergency, or at least was as of a couple weeks ago, according to this AP article from then. I hope everything's okay. 🥺

Today's clickbait article that appeared on my Windows start page was how Stephanie White signed with the Chicago Sky, how Chicago also signed Kelsey Mitchell, and something about Angel Reese as MVP. Of course, it was all a "wish list" from a writer who is obviously a member of Reese's Pieces.

I see why you would think that in a vacuum. I saw that piece pop up and didn't read it. The headline is a blatant copy/paste of the headline of muggle's piece about Stephanie White and Natasha Howard "signing" with the Fever, and that being Caitlin Clark's "dream scenario" or whatever. AI or not, it's extremely lazy clickbait that isn't worth any analysis. (Not knocking you at all, muggle, strictly that piece.)

I can't remember the source but it was actually a credible site.

Irish Star is one of the sites the pieces are on. And I'm sorry, it was Lisa Bluder, not Stephanie White, who was in the Clark headline. Same writer of both pieces, Dan Burnham. I don't wanna trash the guy, but come on, dude. What is this? 👎

I could've sworn when I read it on MSN, it was attributed to Sports Illustrated or some Chicago news/sports station or something.

Jenny Boucek would be a good candidate somewhere if she wants to leave the NBA's Indiana Pacers.
