WNBA

WOW. Well, the Fever mean business and are working exactly as you should when you have two All-Stars on cheap rookie contracts. If they weren’t in title contention already, they certainly are now.

Figuring out different rotations/lineups will be really interesting. They can solidly go 8 deep in the playoffs now if you include Dantas, and that’s all you need. Still could use a backup PG and C for regular season minutes.
I'm stunned to see this news. Indiana's tryna get this championship now, my boys. Let's get it! ^_^

Oh, and correction from an earlier post - Ty Harris will be on the Wings with DiJonai, not on the Mercury.

This is wild. This league is already gonna look so different next year, and the draft hasn't even happened yet.

Just saw in the WNBA app that Chicago picked up Rebecca Allen (who had just gotten traded to Connecticut) and Kia Nurse, which will give them some outside shooting that they desperately needed. They traded Lindsay Allen to Connecticut. Lindsay was a solid floor general for them last year, but now they have Sloot, so they're good in that regard.

Atlanta will be nasty next year, at least on paper. They're already had Jordin Canada, Allisha Gray, and Ryan Howard, and now they have Britney Griner and Brionna Jones in the post (Tina Charles signed with Connecticut).

Atlanta has Rhyne Howard too, LOL. Dang editing time limit got me again, as it frequently does.

Marina wants out.

I'm obviously not surprised and can't blame her. She finally found herself in a really good basketball situation, with an established championship contending team where she fit in perfectly, and it all got blown up after just one partial season there for her. I figured she would have gotten at least two solid years there. Poor boo-boo. :(

If Connecticut agrees to trade her, I wonder where she'll end up? With her versatility as a scorer and passer, I think she could fit in just about anywhere. Heck, I wouldn't have minded seeing her go to Indiana before they added Sophie, DB, and Sydney Colson, but she'd just be overkill there at this point. I think she would fit in pretty well in Phoenix playing off of A.T. again, but I'm not sure who they would trade to get her.

Regardless of where she ends up, I hope she finds success.

McDonald’s has an Angel Reese meal.

Unfortunately, every time the lady tried to give me my food, it kept bouncing off the top of the car door and onto the ground. ☹️

It finally made it in on the fourth try.

Myisha Hines-Allen is off to the Wings, dang it. That's a loss for Minnesota for sure. She was the previously missing piece for them throughout their near-championship run this past season.

Meanwhile, after a brief championship-winning stint in Vegas, Alysha Clark is going back to Seattle, where she has also won a couple of championships.

Not a huge surprise to me, but Nneka Ogwumike re-signed with Seattle.

That's another potential landing spot for Marina IMO, especially since one of their few consistent outside shooters, Sami Whitcomb, signed with Phoenix. Alysha Clark will certainly help them out in that regard, but she's a forward, and Seattle needs all the help they can get from deep. I'm just not sure what a Marina trade would look like on the other team's end no matter where she goes.

Heck, even if she somehow ends up staying in Connecticut for another season, it'll hardly be the end of the world IMO. She'll be a free agent next year like everybody else, just in time for that new CBA. I know she cares more about winning ASAP than where she fits in the rotation, but I feel like she would easily be a starter in Connecticut based purely on talent, and she'd at least have Tasha Cloud, the fine wine that is the OG Tina Charles, and her fellow ex-Sky buddy Lindsay Allen to play alongside. 🤷‍♂️

Indiana bought out Katie Lou Samuelson's contract. I suppose it was inevitable with both DB and Sophie joining the squad, but I'm still sad to see it. I've always had a soft spot for her and hope to see her thrive wherever she goes next.

I don't want to set expectations too high before this group in Indiana even plays a game together, but yeah, I agree with Lexie. From where I'm sitting, at least on paper, this is a superteam.

In 2026, with that new CBA coming and pretty much everybody becoming free agents, all bets are off. I think they've gotta try to get it done this year.

I don't follow much about the CBA (anything really) but I would expect the Fever to have more money to throw around than the other teams.

Indiana has had an awesome off-season with the players they have added and they for sure will be a contender. and NO ONE is a bigger fan of Caitlin than me.

However, it will be tough going.

On a related note, the A'ja Wilson "controversy" is a very bad look. She's been VERY outspoken about Caitlin Clark's presence, complained about her popularity and her being white, and then complained about her shoe not yet being released (when she agreed to the timeline) when a Caitlin Clark commercial was released.

She might be the greatest player in the world, but she's a horrible horrible horrible person and WNBA partners are actually VERY smart to promote Angel Reese over her.

The league will look very different this season. On paper, along with the usual suspects, NY, Minnesota, and Vegas, and new potential suspects Atlanta and Phoenix, Indy looks like one of the teams that should be in the title conversation.

On paper.

Fever continue to load up.

Good addition that gives them more depth down low. There wasn't much room for Breezy in Chicago with all the bigs they have. Hopefully she'll actually get some minutes in Indiana.

Man, Coach White can honestly do whatever she wants with the starting lineup considering the roster she's been given to work with. Plenty of talent there. I'm excited.

Unsurprisingly to me, Connecticut denied Marina's trade request. I actually get it - they just got her and understandably like her and what she brings to the table.

I can certainly understand her reflex reaction as a veteran to suddenly having the rug pulled out from underneath her again and being unexpectedly caught up in another rebuilding situation, or whatever Connecticut is doing with their roster right now. Unfortunately, that's the fickle nature of the business that is professional sports IMHO. What is true about a team today can be completely untrue tomorrow. It is what it is.

Hopefully this doesn't turn ugly and she just agrees to stick it out until she becomes a free agent like everyone else in 2026, or until a decent offer for her drops out of the clear blue sky and she gets moved.

Katie Lou Samuelson is going back to Seattle for (at least) a year.

Also, as per the following piece at the link below, Seattle's external bullying investigation concluded back in December without incident. (Noelle Quinn, their head coach, finally addressed it.) Jewell Loyd had filed the complaint which led to the investigation, and she has obviously been traded.
