Xfinity RACE thread --- Kansas

I'm pretty sure if Jimmie Johnson had to win in those to move up, he would have.

Guy's a seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion.

Maybe, maybe not. It still shows you don’t need to win in ALL of those to move up. I agree maybe to win in some things sure. But not everything.

Name one driver who's raced for Kyle Busch that hasn't won in a development series before racing for him?

The multi-time F1 winner doesn't count.

Lessard doesn't impress me so far and there's the rumor of him running full time. Neither does Herbst who has run a good number of races.

Lessard has won some late model races and won in his Canadian Tire Series debut. He also had a top 3-4 run going his debut at Bristol before Ross Chastain cleaned him out. I actually think he has more potential then Burton and Gilliland, he’s raw but I think he deserves a full time ride to prove himself. Herbst I agree on but he brings the $$$$. Imo he’s the most mediocre driver Toyota has employed thus far. But even he has at least won once in arca lol. Eckes and Chandler Smith are the two guys that I think have a very bright future for TRD. Eckes won the arca champ while missing a race and has won the snowball derby, along with a couple poles and solid runs in his few truck starts. Chandler Smith has been dominant in arca thus far, but we’ll have to wait and see what he does next year in trucks. Overall I think a Lessard/Eckes full time lineup is much better then Burton/Gilliland, and you’ll have Kyle Busch and Chandler Smith splitting the 51 with Deegan. Disappointed my boy Biff never got another race after his win but maybe they will have some open races next season.

Like it makes a ****. Gilliland won two titles and Young Burton won one. My view is that the equipment/teams are so lopsided, until they get to the trucks or higher ya can't see if they have any talent or not for most of em.

I disagree. Some people, like Steven Wallace, are great in Late Models and not good in NASCAR for whatever reason. And then there are a lot of drivers who aren't good at all that get into K&N and ARCA and become Superman.

A lot of drivers actually move up to K&N and ARCA when they can't cut it in Late Models. There's actually a reason Toyota puts A LOT of emphasis on its Late Model program.

Steven Wallace great? what a joke, he's won 2 races in that bush league series out of 25 races.

This seems to be a fairly common thing, guys wrecking off Ross Chastain's bumper.

Yet Kyle Busch and Joey Logano are dirty and terrible and Chastain is the sport's savior according to the fans.

Ross hasn't been gifted a top tier ride to the Cup Series like those 2. I personally am neutral on Logano.

I also don't think a lot of people respect how good the competition is in Late Models.

If you can go to a Late Model Stock race and outrun Josh Berry, or outrun Bubba Pollard in a Super Late Model, I don't care how much money you have, you can drive.

the question is why would ya want to.

This about covers it.

not really, the topic has drifted around to late models which Andy thinks is a ramp to the big time and a real judge of racing talent because he has seen a few races and that makes him an expert on all things racing.

Congratulations.

This is the stupidest thing I've heard all day.

I never thought I would see Brandon Jones in the winner's column. I will say, he's not my favorite by any means, but he did everything he needed to do at the right moment. He earned that win. I've seen a lot of people in denial over the fact that he is now a winner in the Xfinity Series. Can't quite believe it myself, but I'm happy for him.

I'm not overly surprised Brandon finally won a race. He's actually had moments in some of the races I've watched that show he's been fairly quick.

The confrontation after the race and his driving style shows me why Reddick is a perfect fit at RCR.
