Kevin Harvick pit crew swap

Who's harder to replace? Kevin Harvick or the guy changing the tires?

Honestly, they're probably on equal footing. I bet a driver like Dillon, Larson, Chase Elliot would love to be able to drive for Stewart-Haas and learn from drivers like Tony Stewart, Kurt Busch and I think Mark Martin is working for that team as a coach. I mean let's not delude ourselves into thinking that Harvick is some irreplaceable golden boy. There's a reason NASCAR is a "right to work" company, because there's always someone willing to take over your ride. Whether it's be someone from Nationwide, Trucks, or K&N.

Now you're being a dunce. There are maybe 25 guys in the whole world with the skill to win right now in Sprint Cup. There are millions of guys who could be trained to be a good pit crew member.

Eh, not really. Most pit crew members are former athletes of college sports, very few of those guys ever consider an "over the wall" crew as a career once going pro doesn't pan out (and it usually doesn't.)

I wonder whose decision it was to swap the "over the wall" crew though. I mean bash your teammates on national television enough time, and suddenly your teammates don't want to work with you anymore. They're not going to sabotage you out on the field because that'd be their ass on the line, but they're not exactly going to be friendly with you in the garage either.

I dunno. Are football and baseball team sports?

So you should understand how important team dynamic is and how players being able to "mesh" with one another is an important factor. A team like the Carolina Panthers may go with a WR whose a second slower, but he meshes well with the QB and how the QB plays the game. The most common theory as to why Steve Smith was let go from the Panthers is that he no longer meshed with the team.

The same applies in NASCAR and Stock Car racing in general. A team has to mesh, they have to gel. How long do you think a team is going to mesh if one of the players keep dissing and bad mouthing the other team mates on national television?

Racing is 99.5% of the time a solo sport. The pit crew has about 60 seconds of work to do during a three hour race. They don't have to like the driver to change the tires.

Well okay then, I guess Crew Chiefs and spotters are not needed anymore, neither are the garage people. I bet NASCAR could save a lot of money by firing those people since 99.5% of the time, it's a solo sport. ;) :D

Lol At the haters in here. You're competing to win. It was past time for his crew to **** or get off the pot. There should be no tolerance for consistent subpar performance at that organization's level.
This & only this.

At the end of the day, one man (or Danica) plays the biggest role in where the car ends up on the leaderboard.

It still is before the chase...
if that what it takes for Kevin to win a championship, have at it. I have been waiting a long time for him to win one. IMO he should have one already with RCR. it can't always be the pit crews fault, some times the driver has to carry the team. it can't always be the crew carrying the driver.

Are you drinking tonight? Harvick is an elite driver. It's a whole lot harder to replace him than it is to replace a crew member.

Replacing the pure talent, yea, but replacing a body with another body, not so much. If a driver gets troublesome enough, he'll be fired.

IE Tim Richmond and maybe Jeremy Mayfield. Of course watching Mayfield performance in the KOMA Modifieds, he may just have sucked in NASCAR.

Have you watched Mayfield in the KOMA modifieds? They came to my local short track, and Mayfeild almost lapped the field. Then didn't take any tires for whatever reason and finished almost last. :idunno:

And i don't get his "J2 Mayfield" moniker now.

I actually saw the KOMA Modifieds when they were at Ace Speedway on Labor Day. He was doing alright until he had equipment problems but he couldn't beat the Modified regulars, the Myers brothers and Tim Brown.

But this is getting off topic, so if you'd like to discuss this further, I'm more than happy to on a new thread. :)

I don't follow your thinking. Anyone who has been watching KNOWS what the problem is on the 4 team, and it isn't Kevin.

Well no.

Look, all I'm saying is that Kevin is a talented driver, but that doesn't give you a blank check to treat your teammates like complete **** and throw them under the bus every time you have a bad night. It's even worse when he does it on national television. That's not being a good driver, it's not being a good representative of your team, and it's not being a good teammate. All you're doing when you do that is just showing that you're a prima donna little bitch.

I thought he's been rather patient about the whole thing.

Fall madness. I like it.

Well we couldn't do a March Madness which has two M's, because the Brian's Cup is a Fall event.

And Coincidentally we know M&Ms don't even work on a Nascar car in the Fall. They would be better off to sponsor the Kyle Busch truck in the Fall. At least he is able to do something like rough up Hornaday during the Fall season with the truck.

So I guess something like Brian's Freaky Fast Fall Festival could work.
( but the main thing folks needs to know is that M&Ms ain't worth a damn in the Fall) .

The ex Harvick crew should be happy to work on Stewart's car, they could be changing tires for the Winnie Azz that remarkly melts best in the Fall.

Yep that's right.
