2017 R-F Race Ratings

Mar tins ville! Mar tins ville! Mar tins ville! Gooooo Martinsville!

Great work. I'm sure it sucks to sort though all those posts to come up with that number. Thanks for the hard work keeping us informed.
It takes some filtering, but it's not too bad. I toss the highest, lowest, and any overly convoluted or otherwise ambiguous ratings. Excel is my friend. :D

Yeah, but back when you started doing these updates, you used to look more like this.....

Time is taking its toll on you. Stay well.

I don't keep the non-points events as a part of the rankings, but for those that are curious, the average rating for the Open was 7.67, and for the All-Star Race it was a....3.86.

If a vote wasn't split between the Open and the ASR in the Rate the Race thread, I applied the rating to the All-Star Race. There was also one duplicate vote I threw out.

I don't usually post the rate the ASR either but this year it just seemed the thing to do. Lots of controversy surrounding it.

WOW! A 3.86 is getting into Brickyard 400 territory.

Ironically, the Coca-Cola 600 had an average rating of 6.00.

1. Bristol (4/24): 9.27
2. Martinsville (4/2): 8.94
3. Richmond (4/30): 8.66
4. Kansas (5/13): 8.31
5. Las Vegas (3/12): 8.08

10. Texas (4/9): 6.80
11. Atlanta (3/5): 6.55
12. Charlotte (5/28): 6.00

Spring Dover will not repeat as R-F Race of the Year. I have a feeling this one would have been much higher if not for the finish.

1. Bristol (4/24): 9.27
2. Martinsville (4/2): 8.94
3. Richmond (4/30): 8.66
4. Kansas (5/13): 8.31
5. Las Vegas (3/12): 8.08
6. Phoenix (3/19): 8.03
7. Talladega (5/7): 7.62
8. Dover (6/4): 7.61
9. Fontana (3/26): 7.59
10. Daytona (2/26): 7.46
11. Texas (4/9): 6.80
12. Atlanta (3/5): 6.55
13. Charlotte (5/28): 6.00

The two race ratings most impacted by the finishes were Las Vegas and Dover.

Dover was a damn good race that was downgraded by a poor finish.

LV was boring as sin. But the Kyle/Joey pit road fireworks propped it up to a top 5 ranking.

Don't forget Brad blowing up with two to go. The ending was damn good for that one absolutely

I would be surprised if the Brickyard was not the least ranked race this year but if Chase or Junior won it could overtake Bristol for the lead.

I think I gave Sonoma a 7 as it was a decent race but, IMO, not as good as some I have seen there.

You can also highlight all the cells and it gives you the average at the bottom right.
... and counts and sums.
It's amazing how many people don't really know how easy excel is to use...people at my job think I'm a wizard for computing averages and the like instantly lol
It's amazing how many people expect to be able to use a tool they've never seen before without any instruction.

I am surprised KY scored as high as it did as there seemed to be a lot of 4's and under.

Inexplicably there were three 10's believe it or not, although only two counted toward the average as I always drop the highest and the lowest.
Do you drop the ones like: "10 because my driver won"?
