Hunting for new manufacturers

If you just want to make it look like their are more manufacturers just have GM badge some of their cars as Buicks and Cadillacs ford change some to Lincolns and have Toyota throw out a Lexus team. Boom you've gone from only 3 to 7 without really doing anything.
 
Well, Fiat demonstrated that all manufacturers are just a new CEO away from leaving the sport. What does NASCAR have to offer a manufacturer to entice them into making the financial commitment? Where's the ROI?
Essentially every auto manufacturer and every motorcycle manufacturer is involved in motorsports. They all believe there is ROI. There are few - very few - who do it just "because they can." Perhaps you'd feel the ROI was better to triple the number of TV ads for Mid Summer Sales Events?

Ford has just changed top management, and they have reiterated that Ford Performance remains a foundational cornerstone of the company.

Toyota entered Nascar to become more integrated in the fabric of American culture... to counter their Japanese-ness so to speak. That strategy toward achieving that goal makes perfect sense to me, but how to compute the ROI?
 
That is the current Ford pickup downunder. Very popular because it is good. But quite pricey for us.

When I was skyping with one of my cousins in Sidney he was telling me about the prices of F-150's down under. He just bought a house for 3 million that he will tear down. I will need to rob a bank before my next visit.

Without knowing the dollar figure manufacturers allocate toward Nascar it is impossible to figure anything and when you couple that with not knowing what each manufacturer's is trying to derive from associating with Nascar it makes the water even murkier. We know that being involved with Nascar is important to Toyota but others like Honda, Hyundai/Kia, Nissan and VW don't seem to see any importance at all.

Probably not, its a luxury brand, and the SS /Fusion are not luxury cars, but they race the Lexus nameplate in other series, Gazoo Racing ran the Lexus RC in the 24 Hours of the Ring, they ran the Lexus SC in the Super Gt Series , and currently in the Super GT series they are running the Lexus LC500 in the GT500 and the Lexus RCF GT3 in the GT300.

Oh absolutely, but I think NASCAR is a different feel for Toyota.
 
I agree as some of the smaller trucks today like they are about 20% smaller than the full size models.
I think 20% is very close , its very close to making it pointless on buying one, out side of the of them being a tad cheaper than the fullsize.
 
I don't see what badge engineering would do for NASCAR...they need entirely different companies to come in and invest big.

Ideally you would have the current 3 and another 2-3 as you would end up with 30+ well backed cars, IMO.

They're all in motorsports, but only three are in NASCAR. It looks to me like most of them think there's more ROI somewhere else.
 
Yeah, not crazy about this particular color, but the new Ranger looks pretty good IMO.

Very good point, and it has always pained me. Toyota will never be as American as Chevy and Ford. Please don't try. Be what you are.

Exactly.. .why would you invest in a steadily declining sport.
 
depends on what the free market will support. It's a sliding scale..all about the figures. toyota and Chevy spend in the 7 times as much as the average sponsor does, Ford around 3 times more but they have stepped up their spending recently. rise or fall I would guess they would continueAutomobile manufacturers are 10.1 times more likely to sponsor NASCAR than the average of all sponsors.

Nascar still has its share of xenophobes, jingoists and racists but they will continue to decrease over the course of time.

Yep, this right here, they just want to be a part of America, and I respect everything they have been doing here.

UberMedia’s Business Intelligence Study revealed that mobile device owners in attendance at a race where a Toyota Camry won were also more likely to be observed at a Toyota dealership in the 30 days after the race. UberMedia saw a 25.2% change when we compared that to the race attendees who visited a Toyota dealership in the 30 days before a race.

When compared to the percent change Ford (3.6%) and Chevrolet (2.5%) saw, it looks like Toyota is winning more than just races.

Question is, would any prospective OEM be willing to put in the work that Toyota has to reach that kind of exposure and growth.
 
Not now the wouldn't, they would be crazy to with ratings dropping, sponsors, and fans leaving, it would be a very poor business move. I think if Nascar was still thriving you would see Dodge back in a heartbeat.
True. Toyota came into the sport in 2004 when things were still kinda booming. Very different situation today.
 
As much as I would like to see Dodge back in I can see why they wouldn't make the jump yet. Wait until Nascar settles and then reconsider. Would kind of keep a group working on what would be needed to get back in so there wouldn't be a long lead. I would think that finding an established team to change over would be a major hurdle.
