SILLY SEASON 2018

This dismisses Dale Sr and his ability to race in the draft. Not to mention how dominate DEI was in the early 2000s on the plate tracks.

for sure, if you have a fast car and can stay up front is a good way to increase your chances for a win, knowing who to draft with, which lane is fastest are other ways to improve your chances. It really isn't rocket science, Jr like his dad have a reputation, and he draws good cars to go with him to the front if possible if he isn't already up front. Another recent phenomena are the team orders Yota's packing up to form a line.

Richard Petty Motorsports says no plans to merge in 2018 while moving into new location

Officials from Richard Petty Motorsports, whose shop went up for lease last week, said Tuesday they have no plans to merge with another team while seeking a new home.

RPM, which downsized to the No. 43 Ford with Aric Almirola this season, still is sorting out its driver, manufacturer and sponsor lineup for 2018, but the team will remain an independent entity next season, quelling speculation that it might consider moving under the umbrella of an existing Cup team.

The team is open to a partnership similar to its 2017 alliance with Roush Fenway Racing, which has supplied chassis and technical support after RPM struggled with building its own cars last year.

RPM still is looking for a new shop location next year after confirming last week an impending departure from its Mooresville, N.C., shop of nearly 80,000 square feet because it doesn’t need the room.

Almirola, who missed seven races with a fractured back, is in his sixth consecutive season of driving full time for the team.

Does this mean the team won't be switching to Chevrolet for 2018 followed immediately by a switch to Dodge?

Surprising.

It means they won't merge the company with RCR. They can still become an RCR satellite like Germain and remain an independent company. Also, Dodge appears to be returning for the 2020 season, likely with the introduction of the gen 7 vehicle.

I'm aware of the way in which these business to business arrangements work.

I'm also aware of the fact that it's September.

Indeed it is. Time is short to get this stuff sorted.

Concerning Marchionne, he's planned to be gone by 2019 for years. I'm still a bit skeptical it'll happen, but we shall see. I think it needs to, as the company needs someone who isn't begging for a merger/fire sale.

Still think some sort of partnership goes down. This sounds like an article that comes out just before a coach gets fired. Surprised it took this long for a denial to show up.

NO it means they don't have anything to report. They would probably like to have the same deal as the Wood Bros have instead of with RFR.

A lot to me, but I am old school and refute the argument they are just decals. And Aunty nope, not from Charlotte.

If your just buying a car to race and leasing an engine for it, what difference does the brand make?
quite a bit believe it or not. Stewie Haas had absolutely no track data that worked when they went to Ford. No aero tweaks that over the years helped the Chevy body. The Center of gravity was different because of the Ford engine and front suspension points were all different changing the way the car handled. They are not a IMSAish as some people think.

I realize that. Do you remember when Petty changed to Ford and Roush? Roush couldn't get the Fords to race at all. Petty cut off the front clips, put on the ford front clips to accept the lower engine and with in a few weeks he was out performing the Roush cars.
When SHR joined HMS, Tony was driving the used cars from JJ/Chad. After that I don't think his equipment matched RCR. JMO

And in regards to this recent post, Petty has never out performed Roush if you are recalling when Kenseth, Edwards or Martin were racing. And looking at the stats for SHR, they had Harvick driving for them from the first, hiring him away from RCR and they blew away Childress and continue to do so years later.

I think you better do a little research on your facts and timing. Otherwise send the wagon to pick me up.

would like to see where I am wrong, I like to learn more. If you get a chance, show me the figures.
Hass started in 2002 in partnership with HMS. In 2003 he had his own team.
Tony Stewart became 50% partner in 2009 in a deal put together by Hass and Hendrick
to get Tony away from Toyota. Tony drove the #14 car in 2009 and his team mate was his friend
Ryan Newman who moved over from Penske and drove the #39. Ryan got SHR their first win.
In 2011 Tony had a poor season but came alive in the chase and won SHR their first chmpionship
In 2014 The number 4 car was added with Harvick as the driver. That same off season Hass made a deal with Kurt to drive the #41
In 2013 They signed Patrick to SHR driving the #10

Bowyer replaced Tony in 2017 as the driver of the #14.

I was talking about Petty outperforming Roush and when was that happening. The above is a SHR history lesson. I thought what you were saying is that SHR's equipment was worse than RCR's in the second part.

I am not that good at searching so I can't refute your comment with facts other than when Harvick went to SHR.
Petty switch at the time when even the CC's were leaving RFR and that was because Roush was using faulty computer program for the shake down rig. Once Petty got the front clips working he was running better than RFR until Roush was forced to quit using his program.
I will stand by my memory until the divorce is final.

That could be. I remember when Penske switched to Ford, Roush wasn't any help with any technical info. Penske struggled a bit the first year compared to Roush, but by the second year it was all over. I think around that time Roush started complaining about his software. I don't know what the excuse he is using these days.

Can you find the year Petty went to Ford? That was the year when RFR hit rock bottom with their shakedown rig computer problems. RCR had the same problem and they spent a few million getting a new program but Roush refused.

2010 Petty went to Ford

in 2010 Petty's full time drivers were ranked Sadler 27th, and Menard 23. The Roushkateers Bif 6th, Edwards 4th, and Kenseth 5th.

What about kahne and allmendinger? Anyways Roush was still solid stuff back then.

ah at any rate is was fun to go back and remember when Biff and Kenseth were the experienced guys and Edward was the younger sprout and Jack was still a prick.

Still crazy to think he had Matt, Kurt, Greg, Mark, and Carl all on the same team at one point but managed to let them slip away.
