Right...damn $$$All things being equal ... who in their right mind would choose to go with Aric Almirola over an available Matt Kenseth?
Somebody who wants a pretty decent driver with guaranteed sponsorship. All things being equal ... who in their right mind would choose to go with Aric Almirola over an available Matt Kenseth?
Almirola is an upgrade over Danica. They need consistent drivers as Harvick is likely to retire in a a few years.Aaaaand Almirola is out at RPM, as expected. Why SHR would think he's an upgrade over even Danica is beyond me, but hey this "sport" is all about $$$ not merit these days.
If he could get some sponsers to help keep the 77 running, it won't be his last season. Kahne will end up at LFR most likely in a 2nd car.Well things have hit fast and furious today. Since Aric is getting the 10, I think this will be the Matt Kenseth Retirement Tour except I think hes going to pull a Tim Duncan and you wont know hes retiring until the day of. Interested to see where Kasey Kahne is going to end up now.
Maybe the better question is, why would Smithfield tie themselves to a mediocre talent like Aric Almirola?

Matt will get the 10 over Aric. Something turned SF head at the last minute. If Aric were a slam dunk in the 10 it would have been announced today in my opinion.

that's your opinion. He has been doing a really good job with mediocre cars. I'm pretty sure the first couple of three races he runs in SHR equipment next year a different song will be sung.
so they are sponsoring an all Ford team?Well SF has been has been lets say upset with the lack of improvement for a couple of years. They also wanted RPM out of Ford.

They wanted RPM to be higher slotted at Chevy, but Ford threatened court action prior to the season.
You don't see the pure logic?still looking for anything to validate this, so yeah worthy at this point
I ran out of tinfoilYou don't see the pure logic?
Surprising.
Nothing like a brutally honest statementWow, things going downhill in a hurry...
Bob Pockrass:
"Smithfield Foods CEO Kenneth M. Sullivan disputed the Richard Petty Motorsports claim they had a handshake agreement. Sullivan: "RPM's claims of a ‘handshake deal' to extend our sponsorship are unequivocally and patently false. Smithfield's numerous discussions with RPM over the past several months focused exclusively around one issue: RPM's inability to deliver on the track and the organization's repeated failure to present a plan to address its lack of competiveness."
