....but they are mysteriously absent when this occurs. This might even be more fun. They don't want to come too far out of the basement because a Toyota won, but it wasn't Kyle so they just kind of peek out from time to time. Pop them in the nose, and they go back to the basement.

What I don't understand is the dislike for Toyota and a team owner like Joe Gibbs. Toyota is a good citizen and employs a lot of Americans and Joe Gibbs has never done anything dastardly or untoward that I know if. For goodness sake Rick Hendrick is a pardoned felon and Gene Haas is a convicted felon and nobody seems to mind them.

As a rabid Philadelphia Eagles fan I am predisposed to dislike anything associated with the Washington Redskins including Joe Gibbs but there is no reason to dislike him.
 
Last I checked, I am free to form my own opinion of others. On the dislike of Toyota, if I say why, school teacher would delete my post.

Oooooh...I can find you quite a few. The organization has a very bad reputation throughout the corporate ranks of the garage. Their actions have been extremely hypocritical at times. They are just as ruthless and cutthroat as any other team in that garage, I would even say they rank at or near the top. You don't get to be as great as they are without stepping on necks. Don't get me wrong, I personally have no beef with Coach or JGR, and never have. But to your post, many do. And with cause.

the last post about the preacher's cut throat treatment about Matt and screwing with another teams crewman got deleted and I for one got an admonishing by the teacher for stating facts. Now he talks the same way about Suarez, what a wonderful guy and team mate blah blah blah. Impossible for me to believe a word that comes out of Gibb's mouth. Personally I think Carl had a belly full of dealing with it after he left Roush and that is why he left the preacher in the lurch, pretty unusual for that to happen if you are going to quit and you are happy where you are IMO.
Another thing, Hendrick might have been pardoned, Haas might have a felony charge, but the way they conduct business I have witnessed, doesn't leave me with a bad taste in my mouth compared to the preacher. ..in before this thread gets deleted.

It is OK to dislike Toyota and JGR for any reason you wish but the question is do you hold others to the same standard? Rick Hendrick gave this year's Brickyard 400 winner the boot with a year left on his contract. Is that cutthroat? As soon as Danica could not bring home the bacon she was shown the door. Is that cutthroat?

Why does JGR have to operate any differently than anyone else?

Matt was told in a press conference by Gibbs that he just loved Matt loved his family and wanted him to race here for as long as he wants. Three months later, Jones is announced to take his seat.

Rick Hendrick is paying Kasey Kahne in 2018 and most likely helped him find the ride with LFR. How is that kicking him to the curb? Danica's performance could no longer attract sponsor dollars,her contract was up so the team made a change. Matt had long time sponsors and still had winning potential. Was told he was wanted by Jibbs for as long as he wanted to drive That is whats cutthroat!!

Yeah and based on the best available info Joe had at the time I see no reason why he didn't mean what he said. Probably what happened was after Joe made his statement Toyota made the call for the switch.

if you could hazard a guess as to what motivation Joe had in saying what he said to Matt knowing he would have to reneg I would like to hear it. It is a fair question that deserves an answer.

I think Joey Kryptonite worked pretty well, bounced him out of the pits pretty quickly. I don't think Kyle will be any worse for wear afterwards, a little scar might help..give him kinda a macho rat face look. :biggrin:

My post was in reference to Coach the man. I think that many around here define a Christian man as a pushover. As you noted, this is not the case. Coach was a damn football coach. Expectations of Coach are not reasonable and consistent with much of the bashing that comes when a man chooses to publicly express his faith. Truthfully, I wouldn't expect anything less that what you posted. Additionally, I am pretty sure that when he was coaching the Redskins, Cowboy brass probably didn't love him a whole bunch. IMO comes with the territory particularly when competition enters the equation.

When you do your time or are pardoned for your actions, one of the paths you can take is to do better afterwards. On the other hand you can stand up there and bald face lie. All would be good if Gibbs had the humility to get back up there and tell everyone he made a mistake and are sorry. The preacher continued to throw kitty litter over it. Congrats to Toyota for finally buying some good teams after MWR and Red Bull flopped and on getting a tapered spacer after winning just two races in 2014 and the new Toyota nose this year.

Toyota was smart to affiliate with JGR as it has been a partnership that has resulted in a lot of wins and overall good performance. Getting the 78 team to switch from Chevy was genius as that team by itself mopped the floor with Ford and GM this year.
