Ford Resurgence

This^

I think the new inspection has had the biggest impact. I’m sure there are many other nuances that the 4 is doing on top of it but it’s not an advantage for Ford as much as removing whatever Gibbs was doing last year. The Chevys are just a wild card now with a new body. Ford will probably have same issue next year.

So Kez was right last year and Martin is wrong. The new inspection took away the Gibbs “unfair” advantage and made them all legal now. Lol.

All legal except for the guys with the window issue. This will never end. It isn't about if the cars are legal, it's whether or not they get caught. It amazes me that NASCAR doesn't understand that they are completely screwed. They will never get ahead of this. Scott Miller et al. talking about ramping up the penalties will only make matters worse. You have attendance and viewership problems, and you are going to hammer down on fan favorites? I don't think so. Anybody with a brain in NASCAR would help the inspectors to understand that perhaps letting some stuff go would be a good thing. Nobody would ever know. Nobody, and we would stop talking about this. The great teams will do all things better--even pushing the limits. **** almighty, we have spent millions on the OSS, we inspect the **** out of everything, we take the cars back to R&D even after the race, and **** is still going on. What the hell about this picture suggests that it will ever change? It won't. If I am a crew chief, I know that I will get fired if I don't try **** and lose, or I will get fired if I try ****. I know what I would do. Absolutely the most ****** stupid thing I have ever seen. NASCAR needs to get a grip, and let these teams go.

I agree it will never end. But what is pissing off NASCAR this time is its an infraction that we as fans CAN see and will point out every chance. But it’s always been a NASCAR vs teams scenario and I actually love it! It’s incredible what they used to do. Someone should write a book with all the stories of cheating since NASCAR began, I’d read it cover to cover. What Smokey and Gary did in their days is astounding.

And again, I think it’s a big issue with NASCAR because it is so obvious, fans can see this issue.

The only way they "fix" the issue is to make them run a spec body. Treat it just like engine size and tire tampering. Although only team I've seen actually penalized for an engine infraction was poor ol Carl Long. Petty won #198 with a 383 stroker motor...

Yep Nascar has shut down the funky fans, dents to the quarter panels, bending out the skirts, splitters, radiators and duct work under the cars from last year. :D But some try to do the rear end skew thing and gamble that the inspectors miss it. I guess some get by because some teams continue to try it. Same with the window. They will fix the window and the teams will try to find something else. It's racing, some of us like the cat and mouse.

If the bodies aren't the same, one will always have an advantage. Aside from that, the teams change. Hendrick couldn't dominate forever. I'm guessing employees from successful teams get poached by other teams and knowledge gets transferred. Some teams learn how to do things better (for example, everyone had to learn how to do pit stops differently). I've heard it is hard to hide some innovations because of the open garage at the tracks.

a lot of difference in the drivers also. Something that can't be measured, but pretty obvious when cup drivers go down into the lower series and race.

From what I've heard, it isn't so much that the fords have found something new but rather they've found a way to get back what they had at the beginning of 2017. Remember fords won 5 of the first 10 at the start of last season. Everybody says the Fords took a hit when the 22 got busted for rear skew after Richmond, but that apparently wasn't it.

Apparently the Fords (especially Penske) were playing with the rear fender wells and their fit with the tire to seal the back end down. NASCAR cracked down on this after Kentucky of last year and that more than anything hurt them at the big tracks. It seems like the 4 was able to figure out how to get that back near the end of last year and make a title contention. Rear downforce is the key to speed ever since 2016.

This year has been the best since 1992. If you look at the top 10 in points 7 of them are Fords. This goes beyond the 4 car. They have the most stage wins they have the most laps led they have the most in almost every catergory. This year has been great :)

Tell the fans it's photoshopped. They will buy it. Many already do.

Are you kidding me? Let some stuff go? How about bring your car to the track by the rule book? NASCAR is doing exactly what they should have been doing earlier, time to bring the pain.

I agree with you, but when the cat and mouse becomes a bigger deal than the racing, you have an issue IMO.

Hell yes, let some stuff go! They aren't able to catch it anyway. My God, look at what this freakin' sport has become. This is completely stupid. Do you really think Miller's threats will change anything?
some are making a bigger deal out of it than others. #drama. Compared to last year this year is tame.
IMO this crap is discussed more in NASCAR than any other big time racing series. Do you think you will hear anything about inspections at the Indy 500? This is a problem. I mean, I have been Mr. Sunshine with this sanctioning body forever, and I am flat out done with this. It's like a bunch of 8 year olds running the series like a game of tag at recess.

I don't see it that way at all.

You think coming down on cheating is hurting the sport? Its the cheating, not the inspectors that hurts. You want to know what really will kill the sport? Word getting out that NASCAR " let someone go" over this infraction but someone else got pinged for another infraction and fined and lost points. This would be spun by the media and the fans as NASCAR showing favoritism to a driver, a sponsor or a Manufacturer! Its crazy talk.

I think the inspection system is a work in progress. It looks to me it is designed for the composite bodies that have sensors buried in the panels like they have in the Xfinity cars. They aren't having a problem in that series that I have heard of and they aren't taking the cars back and tearing them down after every race.

It's already going on man. Raise your hand if you think they would cucumber Chase's first win? They would be idiots if they did. Raise your hand if you already think NASCAR favors Toyota. You were on the board last summer, right? Raise your hand if you heard the rumbling when Junior won the Daytona July race after Senior died. Come on man!

Whats going on? Fans dreaming up conspiracy theories or NASCAR is letting certain people cheat?

I knew this day was coming when Nascar handed out a common splitter, common radiator and oil cooler radiator, and changed up the skirting. I didn't know who it was going to affect the most, but they all had the same changes. The seven figure pit guns are gone. Looks like it helped the Fords the most and the Chevy's the least. Going to be interesting at the All Star race, I think Larson is going to put on a show.

I lived about 13 miles outside of Mooresville NC for five years. Never found anyone that had anything good to say about Nascar. Said it was fixed. Believed the old rumor about teams "getting the call". Just absolute hate for the series. Not One Fan. Five years. It's sad what people will believe.

That's strange. Completely different experience for me. One of my best friends lives in Huntersville. Last time I was there I wore one of my Gordon shirts and lost count of how many folks noticed and wanted to talk racing. Hell, just between the Harris Teeter and Lancasters BBQ there must have been a half dozen fans who talked to me and none of them had anything too negative to say.

I have a hat that has Nascar Racing on it. Same thing, not as popular here in the middle of the country, but still I get into conversations. Never had anybody say it was rigged. That's a new one on me.

I hear you. Just zing this one back at them, do you think a Billion Dollar company would let certain teams cheat knowing the human element involved where just one of the thousands of employees could bring the empire down by spilling the beans? Its just stupid.

Yes....and I am good with the latter....although I wouldn't call it outright cheating....maybe widening the tolerances.

Welp, wasn't going to help the ones who didn't need it. Spec makes good business sense, might improve the "racin'," but will destroy the series. Inspections will stop when NASCAR issues the cars, and so will I.

What does that even mean? A tolerance is already built in to the rule. If you give them more tolerance they will go over that and expect more tolerance. NASCAR isnt allowing anyone to cheat and looking the other way. No one.

Of course they would. If NASCAR wanted Chase to win so badly they wouldn't keep throwing phantom debris cautions every time he's leading.

The phony debris cautions have been replaced with end of stage cautions.
The phony debris cautions had two purposes, the important one being commercial time, that is what supports the racing. The second was to bunch the field which the stage cautions also accomplish. With 10 to go debris cautions, they are trying for the big finish.

Yep...do not know how anyone else feels, but do not care for the stage deal. Seems to WWF to me, makes a faux scenario.

Miss the NASCAR of old...the one that took race long strategy and tactics....five hundred miles of real racing. Miss the part that made NASCAR different than other forms of racing also...if you have to rebuild the car in the pits...so be it.

Remember when a blown engine did not necessarily mean you were out of the race...

What do we get with all of this bull****? I mean, do people sit there on a Sunday after a race, and bask in the satisfaction that all of the cars were legal? Really? So, then you would need to convince me that the ONLY time Kevy ran is flexy window was when he got busted? Come on man. They aren't catching everything, and nor can they. What the hell are we doing? This is like kindergarten where everything has to have a consequence. Everything doesn't need a consequence. This obsession with parity and fair play is ruining this sport. Really badly.

Chase is good for NASCAR. The way this series is being run right now, they just might.

How is that? Other than being a driver, what makes him more special than any other? Hype?
What makes anything or anybody more special than any other? Opinion. It's that simple. We each have one.

So what would you do if you were king? Lets hear the solutions and dont forget the owners are asking you to help with costs so you letting stuff go is gonna costs them millions. Lets hear it.
